  1. Glad to see Ylonen, Simoneau, Barron and Harvey-Pinard in the Rocket top 10 Would love to see Slafkovsky and Harris join the club to provide a boost in talent
  2. I hate seeing the HAbs loose. But the whole point for firing MB and TT to rebuild, and option those two never had, is to.... well, rebuild. If we end-up with another bubble team, I will be qissed.
  3. it is looking more and more like that; but for the price paid, it should yield a good return
  4. If it is the wrists (I heard it was both) again, he may be closing on retirement Pitlick at his peak brings more to the team than injured Drouin when playing
  5. thanks, I listened on the radio and the description was not good. It was more or less like , good bass down the middle, shot goes wide, .. and other platitudes instead of a real play by play with players names , position on the ice when play happens I miss Dan Robertson and good old Dick Irving who where so detailed in their description I may have to switch to French play by play
  6. good point, Habs need to bring Monahan’s value up. I hope they get him better wingers or put him in wing with a better chance to score
  7. He is not on TSN anymore, he has a web podcast now
  8. apathy would be a worse response I said I would suggest a few tweaks to loose more often. I do not think I am proposing anything that is impossible As for the cheerleader comment, I dislike people being called scum, garbage, and any other adjectives that were used at the time. For arguments sake, I took the opposite view and defend it to bring some balance to the forum Who hasn’t done that at some point when sharing drinks with a friend? Ate you having a bad day, @huzer?
  9. For trades, I would start shopping Monahan more aggressively and see how much I may get for Edmundson. I would trade them as early as December to "win-now" teams struggling to make the playoffs. Also, I would showcase the pending UFAs 1. Move Dach to center a line with Monahan on LW and Hoffman on RW 2. Move Dadonov to the first line 3. Keep Slafkovsky on the 4th line and play Pezzetta with him and Evans 4. Send Harris to Laval Caufield-Suzuki-Dadonov Monahan-Dach-Hoffman Anderson-Dvorak-Gallagher Pezzetta-Evans-Slafkovsky Matheson-Edmundson Guhle-Savard Xhekaj-Wideman You take one reliable D out of the backend, you put Dach on a role where he will score less, you keep Anderson on a checking line where he will score less. This will make them perform less well, but develop Dach at center and Slafkovsky at the NHL level in a limited role
  10. didn;t Drouin block a shot awkwardly last game? like with his arm?
  11. when I saw that Yamamoto missed a few games last week (?) after being boarded or hit in a borderline/dirty way, I thought that he may be targeted more easily than Caufield. just a thought.
  12. they need more elite talent, or they will be condemned to bubble-team status again. Allen will be gone, and a G tandem of Montembeault-Primeau doesn't inspire confidence to backstop a cup contending team. Why stop short, when there are no expectations to win this year? especially since it would only take a couple of tweaks to tank
  13. Ok, here is a trade proposal that I believe helps the Habs during the transition to the new core during the rebuild: To Edmonton: Armia ($3.4M until 2024), Norlinder and one of the depth Ds in Laval (Leskinen or Schueneman) To Montreal: Yamamoto ($3.1M until 2024) & Raphaël Lavoie EDM gets a depth winger with size, streaky scoring and great defensive/PK skills. EDM also gets a good D prospect that should thrive when he graduates to the NHL with them. They also get another D fir injury call ups and some depth for the playoffs MTL gets rid of a bit of cap salary, gets a smallish NHL F that they can trade later or play on a third line. They get a good F prospect in Lavoie to fill some of the roster spots when the aging CH wingers leave during the rebuild. A replacement to Hoffman/Drouin/Pitlick/etc.
  14. they will hit the 20 game mark against CHI. Three 4-point games against teams in the Bedard sweepstakes (as far as I can tell) We will probably have a better idea after the CHI game on how real a playoff participation may be. I hope the Habs loose more than half the games in the coming week... but they have been playing too well for that to happen
  15. I do not know why the Habs would not tank, give the low probability they win the cup?! I say that it is time for a first trade at the 20-25 game mark to shake the winning streak off and go back to .500 hockey
  16. Drouin will either be traded or leave as an UFA, this is his last season as a a Hab. I am hoping Armia nets an interesting return like Lehkonen who was a 4th liner for most of his career in MTL I have an ida of a trade for Armia, I'll post it on the trade thread Drouin is soft as Hoffman but without the shot. Can distribute the puck like Wideman but cannot defend in any capacity. He cannot engage physically like Lehkonen did with the Habs. Of late, reminds me of Poehling without the faceoff %
  17. Armia and Drouin are not playing well. If they are genuinely injured, that may explain it. It is hurting any trade value they may still have
  18. thanks! I was going to bring that up too. ============ Watched on the PVR (trying to spend more time with my wife and kids). I like how the team is playing, it is definitely true that playing without pressure is helping most of the players. Some players are still lost: Armia? Dadonov? Anderson? On Drouin: it seems to me that since his wrist injuries he has lost his NHL-level shot. Playing him on the PP to quarterack from the blue line may be a way MSL is trying to re-launch him. He is making some defensive plays, but is still lacks any physicality. He will be dealt at the deadline, and for that reason I will praise any positives until I see what the Habs can get for him.
  19. My thought this morning: maybe Bergevin and Timmins didn’t leave a team in shambles maybe it was the Stanley cup final “hangover” and the catastrophic injuries
  20. agreed, but I hope they finish as low in the standings as possible MOSTLY because it raises the quality of 2nd round and 3rd round picks: to me that is a huge advantage from tanking, i.e. the increased probability of quality picks through out the draft on a deep year
  21. Seems like CBJ has consolidated its stranglehold on the Bedard sweepstakes
  22. although I have an issue with any person being referred to as garbage, I agree that the salary structure has too many contracts that do not meet expectations. They come from a team built to win in the playoffs, where some players were meant to get you in and others meant to get you through. The Habs are on a completely different context, rebuilding to win a cup in the next window. That makes anyone 26 and older an asset to ripen and trade: Drouin, Anderson, Dvorak, Dadonov, Hoffman, Gallagher, Evans, Armia, Edmundson, Matheson, Savard, Wideman, Allen are all veterans that should be traded at some point for the best return.
  23. watched on PVR, and I have to say how happily surprised I am on their win. Good to see Hoffman and Dach score, great to see Gallagher show the kids that we should all care and put in the best effort. the 3 or 4 posts saved Montembeault and clinched the win. Karma will Karma at some point I was happy for Pezzetta
