  1. no you are not on my list. Actually I was wrong, there are only 4 people on my list, and as far as i can tell 3 guys don't post here anymore.... just this new guy Lafrous Kaboom Habs 30/31 I like most people here. Just this guy has rubbed me the wrong way since joining... Its not disagreeing that gets someone on my list... we can all disagree. Its the being downright rude to people in his responses. I have no time for that. We are here to talk hockey and have some fun.
  2. Last thing we need is a four game winning streak at this point.
  3. Chicago has two 10 million dollar players plus big money in Crawford, Hossa, Seabrook, Keith, and others. They also have like 10 players at around $1 million to 1.5 million cap hits. Thats the way to build a team. Pay for the top level elite talent. And fill in your third and fourth lines and bottom D pairs with vets who get squeezed and end up signing cheap ala Fleischmann. Its the 3.5 million for Eller and DD, the 4.1 million for Emelin. Those are the deals that kill you in this cap. Pay for elite talents, not the middle of your roster.
  4. To me Alex Nylander is part of the best 7 in this draft... and those 7 are a tier ahead of #8. He is a better choice than the Q players.
  5. Yes, Price is the best goalie in the game. But make no mistake, its not just missing elite goaltending. Its missing any form of goaltening whatsoever. Since December 1st... nearly 3 months... our save percentage as a team is dead last in the NHL... and not by small margins. Its ABSOLUTE DEAD LAST by a considerable amount, something like 010 - 020 points If we had just average NHL goaltending... just AVERAGE.... 916 instead of 900. We stop enough goals to put us in the playoffs. On top of that the goalscoring goes up. When we are down 1-0, 2-0 cause goalies don't make early saves, other teams get the chance to sit back and defend and that reduces our offence as well. Thirdly the fact we can't trust our goalies means we sit back more, try to defend better and take away some offensive opportunities. Anyone who has played hockey knows that teams play differently when they don't trust the goalies.
  6. You say that the coaches in the "interchangeable group" aren't interchangeable, but might actually be different cause they have different styles. Ok, I buy that. But if you say that, you can't also bury Marc Crawford cause other teams passed him over. You have to admit that Crawford's style may not have been a fit for these other teams rosters, but could be a fit for ours. If different styles are needed for different roster compositions... then the fact crawford wasn't seen as a fit by other NHL teams shouldn't be used against him. Also just cause other teams passed him over doesn't make him a bad coach. NHL GMs are not infallible and have made mistakes. We also have to consider the last time the Habs hired him, he was the subject of a pending lawsuit (Steve Moore)... thats all been settled now and there is no longer uncertainty and a looming media circus/trial hanging over his head. Thats something that could have caused the Habs and other teams to pass on him, but is no longer part of the equation.
  7. Guys remember Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson both won Superbowls. Dan Marino didn't. Who is the best quarterback of the three..... The same holds true for goalies and stanley cup wins.
  8. Your star forward could just as easily get hurt as your star goalie. If I'm gonna pay 12 million for the absolute best goalie in the game... I'm fine with it, cause my goalie is on the ice for 60 minutes. My best forward around 20 at best
  9. Impressive... you made my ignore list in under 10 posts... considering that I rarely use the thing (you are only the 5th person ever I have added)... the fact that you made it so quickly is really impressive.
  10. He would get that back... the issue is finding a team that can take his contract next year is tough
  11. But larry brooks said its all coaching. It couldnt be something the players or goalies are doing wrong.
  12. Asinine drivel would be if i said that quick deserves to be in a beer league. I didnt say that. Its just the over the top hyperbole that i find to be crap.
  13. Bingo. Hes a very good goalie but hes not in the class of price, rinne, lundqvist, holtby who are proving to be elite. He has 2 cups.... sure but look at his team. That doesnt move him from very good to elite top 5 guy. He has a conn smythe. Great he played well in 2010. Cant take that from him. But we also cant take away cam wards conn smythe and ward is hot garbage now. Quick is an above average goalie but not elite
  14. Guy bouchers style is attacking? What part of a 1-4 is attacking?
  15. Talbot came in and gave the rangers 925 goaltending. Our goalies have been below 900 Yeah i guess the difference is coaching. Vigneault must have told talbot to stop the puck. Therrien obviously forgot to tell his guys that.
  16. It is drivel when you say an nhl coach who has been as successful and won as many games as therrien doesnt know anything about hockey and should work as a bouncer instead. Thats garbage. The guy deserves at least a little credit.
  17. Oh please, this is some of the worst drivel I've ever seen at this site. The guy might not be getting results now, but to deny what he's done over the previous three seasons is idiotic. Therrien is a decent enough coach, just one whose act has wore thin in 4 years (As most interchangeable coaches do).
  18. Quick is overrated if you are placing him in that echelon. He is a very good goalie, but he's not with Price and Lundqvist.
  19. Yes I think he'd get the same reception. I also think the "faux pas" is being overrated here... the French media was just looking for an excuse. They would have found one, whether it was at the first presser, or the 2nd, or the 3rd or whatever.
  20. He's not as bad as people claim... he's a third liner. As a third liner with term remaining on his deal... $3.5 million is extremely expensive. This summer we are gonna see with a flat cap that the stars like Stamkos, Ladd, Yandle, etc... they will get paid, but there will be a ton of 3rd and fourth liners on the market and they'll be getting 1 and 2 year deals at about a million per. When there is a cap crunch, itst that middle class of player who is gonna see their contracts squeezed. Players of similar value to desharnais who are ufas will be 1/3rd the price.
  21. Win 1 and Lose 3 is still a fine tanking recipe.
  22. The interim coach doesn't have to go 15-5 though, that was just an example. All he needs is one of those rookies or plugs to get hot, the team to look decent, and we'll never hear the end of it. Could happen in a small sample size. All of the sudden you get a Martin Gerber and Boyd Devereaux come up with a couple huge games as they play their hearts out to get new contracts and then what.
