  1. Last year he had 1 goal and 2 assists in 12 games. I'm failing to see that as "stepping up" or having two good rounds. Perhaps you are misremembering.
  2. Save percentage is what it is..... everyone has bad games and everyone has good games. You don't get to cherry pick games and say, "these games skew my save percentage, we aren't gonna count them".
  3. Brian Bickell rises to the occassion every post season... is that why he had 0 goals on a cup winning hawks team last year. Justin Williams ppg in the regular season and playoffs is pretty much equal. ----------------------- Jonathan Quick had a great playoff in 2012, no doubt about it. In 2014, he had a rather pedestrian playoff, with a mere 911 save percentage, but won the cup cause LA was that damn good as a team. Lets forget about these narratives about "clutch", "stepping up in the playoffs" and all that. They are myths... media narratives... thats it.
  4. Quick .907 .918 .928 .902 .915 .918 .920 Rinne .917 .911 .930 .922 .910 .902 (injury year) .923 .905 Rinne has gone over 920 for a full season 3 times in his career as a starter. Quick has only done it once (and is at 920 exactly for this year in an attempt to do it twice). Price on the other hand has done it 4 times in his career (including 2 seasons over 930) Holtby has done it twice in the last 3 years, and at .924 this year looks like he'll be doing it 3 out of his 4 years as a starter. He's already elite. Tuukka Rask should also be considered there too, with 3 seasons as a starter, and one as a backup over 920.
  5. Torres has been loaned to San Jose's AHL team. All the leafs are doing here is picking up his contract and cap hit to make the deal work.
  6. There are so many others... Nashville game, Los Angeles game, Detroit game, are three more from December that come to mind. Exactly look at the Philly game. thats happened so often for this team.
  7. What team is getting lots of 6-3 wins? I'm still of the mindset from the other thread. Pay Subban, Price, Stamkos (or other elite C) big bucks - $30 million + Get some other talent around them ala Max, Petry, 2nd line centre. Fill out your first lines on guys with ELCs, and other ways to find cheaper complimentary talent (Gallagher's contract is a great example) Fill out the bottom 6 and bottom pairing D on the cheap. (1-1.5 million each) Cheap backup (under 1 million) Thats the formula..... Elite goalie, elite C, elite D, and fill in the rest. By the time price is ready to be paid, we can clear the contracts that are really killing us and replace them cheaper... the Eller, Desharnais, Emelin deals. Even Plek will be gone (and hopefully replaced by chucky, but if not you find a way).] Chicago has been playing tight with the cap for a while. They can dump some good players in Sharp, Ladd, Byfuglien, Saad, etc... they make those hard choices and bounce back cause they have their core (in their case Toews, Kane, Seabrook, Keith, Crawford) locked up.
  8. Same time period, yes. I don't know enough about what is going on medically to say it was that hit and not something else... but the timing is right, and its very plausible.
  9. He was very good when the team was very good in October/November. His dip in play has coincided with him being out of the lineup and listed as day-to-day on a number of occasions since mid december. I think thats no coincidence, and he has some sort of nagging injury.
  10. no you are not on my list. Actually I was wrong, there are only 4 people on my list, and as far as i can tell 3 guys don't post here anymore.... just this new guy Lafrous Kaboom Habs 30/31 I like most people here. Just this guy has rubbed me the wrong way since joining... Its not disagreeing that gets someone on my list... we can all disagree. Its the being downright rude to people in his responses. I have no time for that. We are here to talk hockey and have some fun.
  11. Last thing we need is a four game winning streak at this point.
  12. Chicago has two 10 million dollar players plus big money in Crawford, Hossa, Seabrook, Keith, and others. They also have like 10 players at around $1 million to 1.5 million cap hits. Thats the way to build a team. Pay for the top level elite talent. And fill in your third and fourth lines and bottom D pairs with vets who get squeezed and end up signing cheap ala Fleischmann. Its the 3.5 million for Eller and DD, the 4.1 million for Emelin. Those are the deals that kill you in this cap. Pay for elite talents, not the middle of your roster.
  13. To me Alex Nylander is part of the best 7 in this draft... and those 7 are a tier ahead of #8. He is a better choice than the Q players.
  14. Yes, Price is the best goalie in the game. But make no mistake, its not just missing elite goaltending. Its missing any form of goaltening whatsoever. Since December 1st... nearly 3 months... our save percentage as a team is dead last in the NHL... and not by small margins. Its ABSOLUTE DEAD LAST by a considerable amount, something like 010 - 020 points If we had just average NHL goaltending... just AVERAGE.... 916 instead of 900. We stop enough goals to put us in the playoffs. On top of that the goalscoring goes up. When we are down 1-0, 2-0 cause goalies don't make early saves, other teams get the chance to sit back and defend and that reduces our offence as well. Thirdly the fact we can't trust our goalies means we sit back more, try to defend better and take away some offensive opportunities. Anyone who has played hockey knows that teams play differently when they don't trust the goalies.
  15. You say that the coaches in the "interchangeable group" aren't interchangeable, but might actually be different cause they have different styles. Ok, I buy that. But if you say that, you can't also bury Marc Crawford cause other teams passed him over. You have to admit that Crawford's style may not have been a fit for these other teams rosters, but could be a fit for ours. If different styles are needed for different roster compositions... then the fact crawford wasn't seen as a fit by other NHL teams shouldn't be used against him. Also just cause other teams passed him over doesn't make him a bad coach. NHL GMs are not infallible and have made mistakes. We also have to consider the last time the Habs hired him, he was the subject of a pending lawsuit (Steve Moore)... thats all been settled now and there is no longer uncertainty and a looming media circus/trial hanging over his head. Thats something that could have caused the Habs and other teams to pass on him, but is no longer part of the equation.
  16. Guys remember Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson both won Superbowls. Dan Marino didn't. Who is the best quarterback of the three..... The same holds true for goalies and stanley cup wins.
  17. Your star forward could just as easily get hurt as your star goalie. If I'm gonna pay 12 million for the absolute best goalie in the game... I'm fine with it, cause my goalie is on the ice for 60 minutes. My best forward around 20 at best
  18. Impressive... you made my ignore list in under 10 posts... considering that I rarely use the thing (you are only the 5th person ever I have added)... the fact that you made it so quickly is really impressive.
  19. He would get that back... the issue is finding a team that can take his contract next year is tough
  20. But larry brooks said its all coaching. It couldnt be something the players or goalies are doing wrong.
  21. Asinine drivel would be if i said that quick deserves to be in a beer league. I didnt say that. Its just the over the top hyperbole that i find to be crap.
  22. Bingo. Hes a very good goalie but hes not in the class of price, rinne, lundqvist, holtby who are proving to be elite. He has 2 cups.... sure but look at his team. That doesnt move him from very good to elite top 5 guy. He has a conn smythe. Great he played well in 2010. Cant take that from him. But we also cant take away cam wards conn smythe and ward is hot garbage now. Quick is an above average goalie but not elite
  23. Guy bouchers style is attacking? What part of a 1-4 is attacking?
