  1. Morris signed a 3 year extension with the Yotes yesterday (or Wednesday) so he's off the market.
  2. I'm not disappointed at all. Especially after hearing Gainey's comments during intermission yesterday about freeing up salary space so they can better the team this summer. I think Gainey did a good job, to be honest.
  3. I meant in general, not for the Habs. Things are goofy when Brendan Witt is one of the headliners.
  4. A very unspectacular D day. Booo!
  5. From Code: " Source: Rangers frontrunners for Bertuzzi The Rangers are now the frontrunners for Bertuzzi. The Habs are no longer interested. "
  6. The silence is deafening. I personally think the Habs are done dealing. I've been wrong before, but don't think so this time. Our team is now set for the playoff stretch, and they didn't give up an active player off the roster. Here's hoping Abby keeps his strong play going!
  7. Wow, one thing I didn't expect today was 60 posts about Todd Simpson. My Firefox tabs are getting refreshed every second it seems. I guess I should head to lunch and hope for other news upon return. Thus far, a dud of a deadline day.

    Jokinen

Ah, what's 250K more a year, anyway? Hehe...

    Jokinen

And Jokinen does re-sign with the Cats: 4yrs $5M/per.
  10. TFP has been very fast reporting things. Now Noronen goes to the Nucks.
  11. Wow. I'm stunned, I didn't expect any deal to go down, and then this happens. All I can say, is what's next???
  12. Man, what scares me is that half of the posts in this thread have described Ryder basically as...Dagenais. All Dags has is a shot and nothing else. Is that what everyone is relegating Ryder to?
  13. Simply put, Nope. I'm still fairly convinced that Gainey won't make any moves.
  14. Considering the lack of depth the Habs have on D, that would be the only reason I'm thankful for having Rivet. As far as last night's game, I'd agree with the other points. I just remember thinking how weak Ribs was when McCabe barely pushed him in the corner and he went flying. Three concerns always related to Ribeiro were size, skating, and attitude, and there haven't been any improvements on any of those fronts. Officiating: one word: horrid. Koivu and Ryder don't seem to be clicking on that first line. For as much as people have said Zednik isn't a top line player, neither is Ryder. As much as it won't happen, I still wish the Habs would acquire a big winger with a mean streak to play with Koivu.
  15. I would be surprised if Moore returns. One point that tends to get lost is that he was a fringe 4th liner on the Avs to start with.

The World Boxing Commission? Ha...j/k. I'm not into the WBC at all. Baseball in March? Bleah!

    Baseball!

To be quite honest, I won't root for them. But they have leap frogged the Sox as my least favorite team. I'm an NL guy, anyway.
  18. I don't mind him. Especially if you're ever forced to watch games on the local FoxSportsNet channels for the other teams. Those guys are complete homers. Thank god the Avs "Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!" guy is gone! Most annoying pbp guy around (except maybe for the old guy in Buffalo who sounds like he got kicked in the groin everytime the Sabres take a shot). Maguire and, believe it or not, Barry Melrose seem to be the only high profile guys that ever gave Habs players any credit.
  19. Nope, he didn't wear that in Montreal. He started wearing it in Philly.
  20. Another case of misplaced expectations. Yes the Habs let Brisebois go (Any other team would've declined that way too expensive option year), but I, for one, never thought Dandenault was brought in to replace him. I always figured him to be a serviceable 5/6 dman, nothing more. When the Habs were rumored to be after him during the season (before they snagged him via free agency) I was actually hoping they didn't acquire him. Would I keep him for my 3rd pairing? Yup. Would I expect anything more from him than that? Hell no.
  21. For Weinrich, the most I would give up would be futures or a conditional pick. I didn't mind him when he was here (heck, I'd have preferred he didn't get dealt for Traverse) but at this stage of his career, I wouldn't be offerering much.

    Baseball!

Hmm, baseball doesn't get interesting until October. Although I'm not a Rockies fan, I'll be there for opening day...the only day of the year Coors Field is sold out. Lots of fun to be downtown on a nice afternoon skippin' out of work! What's weird is that I used to be the biggest Yankee hater alive, but after the past couple of seasons (especially after having to deal with the horrid Boston fans/media) I'm slowly coming around. If it's in fashion to be against the Yanks, I'll root for them. Haha.
  23. Maybe the 'Canes would be intersested in adding him after Cole going down. But I wouldn't want him in Montreal. He's what, 30-31 years old? Last thing the Habs need as an aging project that obviously has not had the heart or desire to play to his ability.
