  1. So can you tell me the difference between TSN undisclosed numbers and your estimates? There pretty much the same thing..... nothing is for certain. How many of your player salaries are estimated? 4 or 5? If your out by say $100,000 to $200,000 per player you could be out by as much as $1,000,000. From what I've seen TSN's numbers are very accurate, there just not in the business of speculating contracts. Now having said that, your estimated numbers seem to be in the ballpark, but don't slag TSN saying there numbers arn't uselfull. Just because yours are estimated doesn't make them anymore so.
  2. No its not an average, its based on what the player(s) earn in the hockey year. IF Markov's contract called for $1.5 Million this year, then he counts $1.5 Million against the cap this year. THerefor the Habs have $37,500,000 more under the cap if no other player was signed. How can they base it on an average when a player can be traded, retired ect...
  3. Absolutley not needed. Who does he bump from the lineup? Certainly not any of the young kids like Higgins, Perezhogin or Hossa. I see no need for another forward until the young kids prove they can't do it. Which means next year. Why waste a draft pick and the time and money on these young kids if your never going to give them the chance to prove themselves.
  4. The simple matter of fact is that Perezhogin commited a stupid act. He was heavily punished, admitted that he was wrong, and in this country, when you punished and serve your time and are properly remorsefull, you are given a second chance. Perezhogin is not a thug. Except for one split second lack of judgement he's been a model player, and probably will be again for the rest of his life. Its not like the other player is a Steve Moore, who's probably never going to play hockey again. He has recovered and got to play last year. As for getting behind him. Yes now that hes back from his suspension and moving forward, he should have all the support in the world. He did something stupid, took his lumps like a man, and its hopefully better now for it
  5. I'd think that Hossa or Perezhogin would have a better chance of being the next Ryder.
  6. Do you really even think Bobby Clarke would consider this trade? I mean do you really think thats a good trade? Don't you think thats just a tad in favour of Montreal?
  7. I agree Habiman. Well sort of. I don't think Gainey will pull the trigger on any trades, not because it'll be upsetting, but simply because its not needed. NOw of course Ryder, Markov or Theodore could become disillusioned with the negotiations and demand a trade, but lets hope that doesn't happen
  8. Nuh uh... Ivanans will be lucky to play 1 NHL game this year. Sundstrom and Bégin should be regulars. Actually yeah your probably right. Instead of Ivanans it'll probably be Jan Bulis with Begin, Sundstrom on that fourth line, with Plekanec and Vandermeer subbing in for injuries, slumps or in Vandermeers case toughness
  9. Perezhogin is definitley not a thug, and shouldn't be labeled one for any reason. He made a mistake, he admitted that he made a mistake, and he was definitley punished for his mistake. More so than the instigator, I forget who he was, who swung his stick first. He should have been punished harder, and the only reason he wasn't was because he ended up with the concusion. Perezhogin has served his time, and hasn't had a re-occurance since. Hopefully he can develop his game and become a capable contributor to the Montreal Canadiens. I think he can play with Ribeiro and Ryder on the second line and hopefully produce. I see Higgins and the stronger defensive player and more of a third line player, maybe on a line with Bonk and Hossa. Higgins and Hossa have some idea about each others game playing in Hamilton a few years ago, and I think that could be a interesting line with size, speed, scoring ability, work ethic and defensive ability
  10. The Hamilton Bulldogs released there Training Camp schedule today. Anybody heard any rumours on who Edmonton is sending to play in Edmonton this year? Anybody have any idea who their better prospects are, and which one of them you'd like to see come to Hamilton? What about Habs prospects? Will Grabovski, Korneev, Emelin, Heino-Lindberg, Halak or any of those guys be attending the Canadiens prospects camp or maybe the Bulldogs camp?
  11. Thank God you ran out of money in Ontario....:/) Back into the BC Skunk Weed again? Must be from the posts you put on here. YOu really should become a canuks fan, I'm sure they'd love to hear your anti Canadiens rants on their webboards [Edited on 2005/8/24 by kaos]
  12. Ummmm, excuse me...but Newfy is not exactly a word that should be brought up into this forum. I'd appreciate if this was removed from your post. i'm originally from Newfoundland and don't appreciate the negative connotations it brigns
  13. Montreals fourth line will be a revolving door or Steve Begin, Nikalas Sundstrom, Chris Higgins, Thomas Plekanec, Peter Vandermeer, and Raitis Ivanans. Maybe Marcel Hossa, and Alex Perezhogin if there struggling offensively or if Julien wants them to learn more about the defensive side of the game
  14. If the Luongo, Theodore deal was straight up I'd go for it in a heartbeat. Luongo is atleast as good as Theodore, probably better, which he's proven with Team Canada and has pretty much beat him out of the backup goalie spot. Theodore is the 3 rd goalie. Luongo is younger, and at $8 Million over the next two years and maybe $5 million each for 2 years after that, would be a savings over Theodore of at least $2 Million total or as much as $4 Million for the next 4 years. Anyways if Keenan doesn't want to pay Luongo more than $2.1 million per season or whatever it was, then why would he accept Theodore in trade at more than $5 Million, and to add on to that Michael Ryder at $1.1 Million + per season? This just doesn't make sense.
  15. There is no room under the Montreal cap for a $3 Million dollar player. And if they did sign him, who do they get rid of? Craig Rivet? Nobody is going to trade for Craig Rivet who makes $2,660,000 a year, not even for future considerations or a 8th round pick or a used puck bag. Thats just way too much of someones cap. Which means you have to get rid of around $3 Million worth of players salaries just to bring somebody in. That could mean as many as 4 or 5 players. All just for 1 defensman. Its not as simple as you may think. As for why Markov, Ryder and Theodore haven't signed? Well I imagine that negoatiations are stuck with one of the players, and the other two haven't gotten into serious negotiations other than offer sheets. You only negoatiate with one person at a time. I would imagine its probably Theodore, since he's the most expensive. After you sign him,t hen you see what kinda cap room you have left over for the other two guys. [Edited on 2005/8/24 by kaos]
  16. Not sure what the story is with him. Although he's just a journeyman prospect, who never produced with the talent he had. I don't think the Habs had any serious hopes for him. When he came to Hamilton 2 years ago, he had limited ice time in about 13 games, although that could be due to the fact he came late in the season. I think he played in the Czech Republic or Slovakia last year? What do you expect from a guy they traded Sylvain Blouin for?
  17. Thats correct, both the players and the teams declined to go to arbitration
  18. I had heard that Chicago and Columbus were interested in him. Looks like he might be had for the league minimum which wouldn't be too bad for someone. The guy is capable of scoring 15 to 20 goals,a nd winning 60+ % of faceoffs. NOt bad for $450,000
  19. Tommy 9 You don't have to apologize for your English, its excellent, and you speak better english than any of us speak Czechoslovakian.

    Guess Who

I don't know if Montreal being versatile or flexible as you call it, is as important as them having upgraded the skill level of the team. Skill leads to making plays, scoring chances and ultimatley goals. I think Hossa, Perezhogin, and Higgins are an upgrade over Dackell, Dowd, and Juneau, even though there still unproven talents, so of course the upside is temendous. If Hainsey can stick around and possibly become a top 4 defensman like the Habs hoped when they drafted him, then Komisarek, Hainsey and Dandenault, will definiltey be a major upgrade from Patrick Traverse, Karl Dykhuis, Stephane Quintal and in some defensive respects Patrice Brisebois. I think this is how Montreal has improved since the 2003-2004 season [Edited on 2005/8/22 by kaos]
  21. So what if Crosby turns out not to be special? Does his number get taken away from him. Or when he gets older and his skills fade, do they take away his number and give him a lower one? Personally I think Montreal should retire #12 Yvan Cournoyer (10 stanley Cups), #19 Larry Robinson (atleast 6 stanley cups and 2 norris trophies), and #33 Patrick Roy. Although I'm not sure they will. Patrick might end up being something like Doug Harvey situation, where they don't end up retiring if for 30 years, because of the situation he left the team in. But I definitley think he deserves it.
  22. Selanne signed a one year deal with Anaheim. No finacial details disclosed
  23. I'm sure Streit will get a shot, but he's unproven, and i think Hainsey will have an edge. Also, being some 27 years old or so, I think Montreal had to sign him to a one way contract, as he has a regular job in Eroupe. Why would take a chance here, when he knows he can play fulltime in Europe. Montreal really had no barganing power there. [Edited on 2005/8/22 by kaos]
  24. Zednick - Koivu - Kovalev Perezhogin - Ribeiro - Ryder Higgins - Bonk - Hossa Bulis - Begin - Sundstrom Souray - Komisarek Markov - Rivet Hainsey - Dandenault Higgins and Bulis are interchangeable depending on who struggles. Vandermeer or Aitken or Ivanans can be dressed as a goon and 13th Forward/7th defensman. I'm think Dagenais will have a hard time keeping up with the pace of the new NHL,unless he has worked on his skating. Even though there young and inexperienced I believe Higgins and Perezhogin offer more upside with speed, and hockey sense than Dagenais, and in Higgins case, better defense.
  25. Yeah I realize that, but theres no guarentee they'll send anybody decent. I believe they have a deal worked out with another team as well. Forget who? But look at last year. Miettinen, Ott & Daley from Dallas were not top notch talents Theres no guarentee that Edmonton will send there best.
