  1. If Bergevin doesn't want Subban and his attitude he certainly ain't trading for Kane and his.
  2. I think they'll try Galchenyuk and Radulov together. Plekanec will play with Pacioretty and Gallagher. Byron will be an everyday player based on his PK ability. I don't believe Lehkonen makes the team. Carr Galchenyuk Radulov Pacioretty Plekanec Gallagher Danault Desharnais Shaw Byron Mitchell Andrighetto Beaulieu Weber Price Markov Petry Montoya Emelin Pateryn Barberio Team is seriously short of 1 proven top 6 forward. They better hope for a drastically improved pp.
  3. Weber and most athletes dont pay much attention to the media nor any of the fans bullshit rumblings. He knows how good he is and what he brings to the game every night. He certainly don't give a shit if any of us think the Habs won or lost this trade nor would he bother to say so if asked.
  4. For the last year or 2 the time line has been to win a cup in the next 3 to 5 years before cheap Pacioretty and Price contracts need renewing and while Subban is in his Prime. Weber fits that timeline, will do as Therrien wishes, then regardless of results, can be moved out as the Habs get old and expensive and retool. Unfortunately has yet to assemble the finishing pieces to win the cup.
  5. Did you just suggest that Rod Langway and Patrice Brisebois played together?
  6. I was thinking Desharnais and another contract plus Juulsen but if Kane can't handle Buffalo or The 'Peg he can't handle Montreal
  7. Yeah but that's probably true about any coach with this team. Truth is this teams only going as far as Carey takes them
  8. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/shea-weber-average-nhler-p-k-subban-trade-matt-pfeffer-montreal-canadiens-nashville-predators-analytics/ More fuel for the trade haters
  9. Other then his excellent 2010 season Rinne has been average or worse in most advanced stats. He is not an elite goaltender.
  10. I guess the league is full of 1st and 2nd round busts.
  11. Definitley Price. Hunting and fishing.
  12. Most players tend to go threw a sophomore slump. No reason he can't come back and be an effective bottom 6 forward.
  13. Lucic decision came down to McDavid and he's closer to home. Also Edmonton paid with top dollar and termBrouwer was in the 2nd tier group of free agents and was building a house already in Calgary and will be close to home in Vancouver. Erickson is a mystery....I'm guessing dollars and term of contract. Radulov I'm guessing Montreal had to overpay for. Most GM's were probably scared of his past too.
  14. Taxes, ability to win and media/fans are the biggest issues. Who in their right mind chooses a fishbowl exsistence with the highest taxes and shitty weather to play in? Nobody. Because until Milan Lucic choose Edmonton on July 1st almost none of the biggest free agents in the last 20 years have chosen Canada as a place to play. Agents almost universally say their clients avoid Canadian cities because of these issues, as well as including them in NTC. Hate Bergevin and Therrien all you want, they aren't the reason players are not choosing Montreal
  15. I think they'll play Galchenyuk with Radulov and move Plekanec between Pacioretty and Gallagher
  16. It wasn't Bergevin idea to hold the line on Subban's bridge deal. The NHL was coming off the lockout and trying to hold the line on salaries especially with players who should have no bargaining power early on in their deals. Bergevin toed the company line and forced Subban to eat the Bridge deal. Then Edmonton gave the big deals to Hall, Eberle, Hopkins instead of bridging them and Toronto did same with Kadri. Now you see the McKinnon, Shiefle, Forster deals as a result. To blame Bergevin for the Subban contracts is ignorant of the facts
  17. It's more of a "it's a nice place to visit, but I don't really wanna play there if I have the option" kinda thing
  18. Looking threw the drafts since 2012 it's hard to tell I guess. Alot of 2nd rounders and after are just starting to appear in the NHL. Montreal actually seems above average. Sure it'd be nice to have the Gostisbehere or Paryako or Duclair...but really at that point it's more luck then skill I'd say. It's not like one team is steady drafting top talent all over the draftboard. Teams are just randomly hitting on talent here and there.
  19. Like every other GM I guess there are hits and misses and a shit ton of luck (good or bad) 2012...Galchenyuk falls to 3rd o/a. 2nd round Habs draft Colberg who while never playing in NHL is flipped at deadline for Vanek..so that's positive. They also drafted Dalton Thrower who hasn't panned out. Not many in that 2nd round have. Perhaps Chris Tierny or Colton Sissons were better picks. 3rd round. Tim Bozon. Bad luck. Meningitis. Coulda drafted Colton Paryako, Shayne Gostisbehere, Fredrick Anderson or Jimmy Vesey. Slim picking after that. 2013 draft 1st Round...Shea Theodore over Mike McCarron? Still probably need another few years to decide. 2nd round...De la Rose, Fucale and Lehkonen. De LA Rose has most games played of any 2nd rounders that year. We'll find out about Lehkonen. Fucale could be a bust. Coulda drafted Nick Pecan and Madison Bowey. 3rd round took Connor crisp and Svenska Andrighetto. Coulda had Anthony Duclair. Not many other worthwhile names 2014 draft 1st Round took Scherbak. Coulda had Ho Sang or Brendan Lemieux or Nickolas Goldobin. Had no 2nd rounders.
  20. Fucale looks weak and destined for Brampton
  21. Your all forgetting Therrien doesn't want puck moving dmen. He wants the puck chipped up to the forwards. Weber will happily do that and Therrien will love him cause he's a team player who follows the game plan regardless of how outdated it is
  22. Yes people care. That's why you don't see offer sheets
  23. Word around NHL is that nobody doing offer sheets for fear of their own RFA being targeted in years after. Basically collusion
  24. Rangers are not dealing McDonough. And certainly not for that Pittance
