Signing P.K. Subban signs 2 year, $5.75M deal
bar replied to HabsTrick450's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
It also serves no purpose to beleive everything read or said by the media. Plus, I'm in the group that thinks the old guard of hockey is what lead to this sometimes boring brand of hockey; I don't want it to reach NBA level promotion, but I am sick to death of the Sidney Crosby boring monotone, bullcrap interviews. -

The media showed Gorges and Markov. Markov who's known to be stern with the media and Gorges, who couldn't be any closer to the archtype of the hockey player interview, reading too much into this would be crazy. I can't for the life of me understand peoples attitude that Subbans ego is out of control? He wants a fair deal? Man the ego on that kid. Likes to celebrate when he scores important goals? TRADE HIM! He's part of the new age player that wants to bring excitement back to the game. Younger players realize fans want that, they want the excitement of goal celebrations, that promoting themselves, benefit the team and therefore the bottom line with teams and will lead to greater salary caps. -

So who determines whats overpaying, by what scale are you using to measure worth? If you are not using other products (players) as a scale how can you determine whether or not Subban was over or underpaid? -

I debate the 2nd year of the contract, the $3.75, because of the d-men getting paid over $4. We can argue that ALL athletes get paid too much, I'm just amazed that MB was able to pull this off, it just seems a bit of a low blow. -

I don't share your view of a fair deal for Subban, I'm just happy to have him signed. If you want a funny read, go look up all the d-men in the league making $4 million or more a year and compare them to Subban and tell me if you still think it's a fair deal for him -
Eller with 4!

For me, if Marc Bergevin doesn't get PK signed and instead trades him, that would be the biggest disappointment of the season.

bar replied to dlbalr's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Haha...greedy player, never greedy organization. I find is hard to be on the teams side in this, MB will make a bigger mistake than PG ever did getting rid of Subban... -
I'd just like to point out that my GDT are 1-0 and Brians are 0-1...just sayin'

From what I understand teams cannot offer offer sheets til like July 1st. -
Ok, thats what I'll leave the GDT at right now, I need to remove the white space between the picture and the main text, but I'll look at it later. Any info viewers would like to see added to the GDT for the upcoming season?

I find it funny how fans are all now capologists..."we can't pay him that much, the cap this..the cap that", the question is comparables. Is Subban a better player than Kaberle? The answer is yes..so why would he accept a contract less than Kaberle? We're all big men saying he should do this or that, but if I was better than someone and we worked the same job and he got paid more than me, I would be upset. -
Not to attack anyone but I am so sick of this toughness BS. The habs lack scoring not toughness. Toughness is such a meaningless phrase people toss around without even thinking. Team toughness, front of the net toughness, be specific. Do the habs need a power forward, a guy other teams don't like to play against? Sure, no team would say no to this, but the pure power forward is a dying breed.I would never think about trading Subban without the return of a player as mentioned above: Malkin, Toews, or Stamkos, or even Tavares.

Haha in Carolina do you think there would this much discussion over the choice of a assistant coach? I just find it sometimes we 'hardcore' fans over analyze everything, that we are never happy. Preferring to be negitive so when things go wrong, and eventually they go wrong, we can throw it back in peoples faces. I'm willing to let MT have his team the way he wants it, I'm giving him a clean slate, he starts 0-5 I'm not going to be thinking "oh its this way because Big Bird is not an assistant", just like if the habs start 5-0 will I be claiming JJ is the reason. CC, I can understand your concerns, but the best person for the job isn't always that, big bird WOULD have been a story, every losing streak, calls for the head coach to be fired would have been herald by the media, coming off the disaster of a regime like we just have do you think it's great to have that hanging in the air?
-
I think the management might have it in their minds that signing Jagr, or Whitney, would stunt the development of potential training campees. I would love for Galy or Gallagher to push for a spot on this team out of training camp, and not in a token 4th line role, which happens a lot to the habs, putting players in the wrong positions to succeed and then bemoaning their lack of productiong on a line full of pluggers at 7 mins a game.
-
Haha still remember that one punch knock out of who was it...Tucker?
-
Yeah, I was just tossing his name out, I hadn't heard anything about his interest in the team, was just spitballin', here's another name, not sure what the feeling would be, but the AVS cut loose Peter Mueller. His concussion problems might scare away some teams, and he might be worth taking a flyer on, maybe a 1 year deal at a low risk/high reward cost.

I noticed that Shane Doan is a potential UFA, what's the peeps here's temperature to him? He is 35, and is likely looking to hit it big with a 3+ year contract, had a bad season (by his standpoint) with only 50 pts, but has avg near 70 the last few years.
