  1. Just to set the record straight... Bobby = Bob Gainey Donny = Don Waddell Chrissy = Chris Higgins Marianne = Marian Hossa Mika = Mike Komisarek Amazing Fantasy #15 = 1st round pick It took my about an hour to write and I was totally not going for that when I started writing my post. I just wanted to give my opinion on this friggen rumor and rumors in general and it just snowballed into this.... I think being in a country that doesn't follow hockey has driven me to this... Did you enjoy guys enjoy it?
  2. Some people are addicted to weed, others to speed, and others to souvlaki... I happen to be hooked on hockey rumors. I don't know if anyone else agrees with me, but this is by far the most exciting time of the year for me. I swear my production at work drops ten-fold. Back to this Hossa rumor though; I'm split on it. He's reminds me of that good-looking cheerleader you've drooled over your whole life; the one that's gonna come back to haunt you. Here u are, in your senior year, you've been dating the vice-president of the Ecology Club since you were a sophmore. You've grown together, trusted each other, hell, even gotten to third base together. Life's looking up, the prom is just around the corner. You've made it. The moment both you and Chrissy have been waiting for your whole lives. Chrissy has been having some issues this year, but you know she'll bounce back. She's a fighter and you know that her future is looking very bright. So it's Saturday afternoon, and Chrissy is at the mall with her bestest friend in the whole world, Mika, looking for prom dresses. I'm at home playing D&D with my pals, when the phone rings..... "Hey Bobby, it's Don!" "Hey Donny, good...didn't see you at the comic book convention today." "Couldn't make it, I had to deal with some family drama...and that's why I'm calling" "**Confused** Ughhh ok, what is it buddy?" "Listen, my sister Marianne is going through a bit of a crisis, she just broke up with Brock (of course Brock is the Quarterback of the Football Team)" "Crap, that sucks, but I'm not really understanding where I come in." "Listen Bobby, I'm gonna be totally honnest with you. Marianne confided in me today and told me that she's kind of attracted to you. She's sick of all these jocks; all braun and no brains. Although you may not be as "Hot" as the jocks, she sees something in you...to quote her, "I see something sexy in Bobby, he's a smart kid and although he's seen as a geek but the rest of the cheerleaders, I think he has a great chance of being crowned Prom King." "**Gasp** "Wow...your sister really said that? I'm flattered..." "Yes, and we left it at that. But I've been thinking Bobby, maybe you should take Marianne to the prom." "Wha, wha, what are you talking about. I can't - I'm going with Chrissy: Hell she's at the mall right now looking for dresses with Mika." "I know, but hear me out for a second. I think I can help your case with Marianne. Don't forget, she's a special girl, and a lot of people would love to get their hands on her. Real sexy...and from the noises I've heard coming out of her bedroom a tiger in bed.." "Donny, u sick *$&@!!" "Ok, ok..listen, I want what's best for my sis. And think you two would be a perfect fit. You know she's going to Boston College next year and you'll be at Harvard right?" "She is...wow..." "See..I think that would be really convenient for the both of you. And between us, if you take Marianne to the prom, I think you're a shoe in become Prom King. You know, opportunities like this don't come around too often in your lifetime." "You're right but, wait a second...something doesn't make sense here...why the hell would you be doing all this for me? And what the hell am I gonna do about Chrissy" "Bobby...I'm gonna be totally honnest. I'll set up a date for you and Marianne only if you let me take Chrissy to the Prom. I think she's cute and I really believe in her, even though she's been having some issues this year. I think a change in her life might suit her well." "I don't know Donny...I have to think about it." "Sure buddy, but do me a favor, I need an answer by Monday morning, cause as soon as we get back to school and everyone finds out that Marianne and Brock broke up, I wont be able to promiss you anything. Got it?" "I'll call you back in an hour..." "Click" The way I see it, there are two possible scenarios; and they go as such... "Hey Donny, it's Bobby. Listen, I've put much thought into it and I can't do it. I much as I like Marianne, Chrissy just means too much for me. We've gone through thick and thin together and although she really hasn't doing anything for my confidence levels this year, I really think she's gonna bounce back. Thanks for thinking of me but I'm gonna have to turn you down...Oh and don't get any funny ideas about pulling the moves on Chrissy cause I'm gonna send Mika after you, and you know Mika is a big girl that can rearrange ur face." or "Hey Donny, Chrissy's in a cab bawling her eyes out. I just laid out the news for her. All I have to do is give the cabbie your address and she's yours; one condition though. If Marianne agrees to stick with me throughout college we have a deal. And please hurry up cause Mika is beating down my door." "Get her to commit to that? Hell, it's gonna cost you a bit more." "Ok, i'll throw in my mint condition copy of "AMAZING FANTASY #15 in which Spiderman made his first appearance and I'll even spring for your Tux, Limo and Corsage " "Jiminy Criket You got yourself a deal!!" If you were "Bobby" would do...????
  3. Or as I like to call it, a "Souvlaki Trio for $4.95....." Tom exemplifies everything a 4th line team player should be.
  4. Because of washed up, second string, french canadian goalies coming into the Bell centre and standing on their heads....
  5. Daaaaannnny.......Daaaaannnny.......Daaaaaannnnnny.......
  6. Come on for the love of Christ, just pot one! I'm sacrificing my saturday night sleep here...
  7. As much as i love the guy, i don't have confidence in him when push comes to shove. I feel like he's missing that x-factor that championship goalies have in their pshyche...
  8. This suxs... How can u have 2 5 on 3's and get nothing going? Carbo's PP unit logic is a little debatable ain't it?
  9. Hey, don't forget one for his @#$hole too! (Couldn't let that one go by..) Go Price Go!!
  10. I was at the game last night and the players that stood out the most were Kovalev, Hamrlik Higgins and Pleks. Huet was great down low but other than that glove save he made, he seemed to be having trouble with anything in the top area of the net. For one reason or another, his confidence seems to be shattered as soon as the game goes into overtime (or shootout) As much as I enjoyed the game, it was our game to lose. Had we captialized on our opportunities in the 3rd (particularly the two 2 on 1's Pleks was involved in) we would have won. On a side note, I wasn't expecting the Rangers fans to be so hostile! I got to exchange some heated words with some loser sitting behind me once I started cheering after their post was ruled a "no goal" in the 3rd. He told me to sit down and shut up, I told him to faaaack off (in greek, french and english). Hahaha...then there was a fight after the game while waiting in line for the bathroom between a Rangers fan and one of our own. Our guy, won the contest by KO'. (Haven't been to a Habs - Leafs game at the Bell Centre but am sure we are not as aggressive towards Leafs fans as we should be. Maybe we should take a page out of the Rangers playbook on that one). Happy New Year to everyone on this board and th Habs fans worldwide!!! :hlogo: GO HABS GO :hlogo:
  11. Hey guys, i'm in NYC from Athens greece and on my way to the game with my wife! Haven't seen a game in so many years. Is anyone else gonna be there? I'll be taking pictures and posting them later on. I hope my boy kostopoulos gets a gordie Howe hat trick for us! Go habs go!
  12. Ahhh... Perky! Don't believe I've heard that one before...I LOVE IT!! Anyway, mark my words, the Habs are about to embark on a massive win streak. I think Carey grabbed the baton and ain't about ready to let it go... Just found out I'm gonna be in NYC on the 30th!!!! Habs - Rangers baby! All I gotta do now is convince my wife to come...
  13. I just posted this in the Game Thread, but I just noticed that it was probably more relevant here. If the moderators want to delete anyone of the two posts I am ok with that. QUOTE(SAKS-AVENUE @ Dec 14 2007, 01:05 AM) Hey, did anyone watch the highlights on TSN.ca. ? I didn't see the little celebration at the end of the game. In the highlights Higgins and Price are mucking it up. They were rubbing each others helmets off and then Higgns gives Price a punch in the head. I tell you that team bonding sh1t just warms my heart. Go HABS GO!!!!! I saw that. And in my eyes, that show of commoderie solidifies what I've been saying about the Canadiens. They are slowly starting to become a TEAM. Most of these players are from the same mettal. Smart, driven, goal oriented and willing to lay it all on the line. Higgins, Kovi, Pleks, both Kostitsyns, O'Byrne, Price, Chips, Tender are all under 25. We're talking that this team's nucleus is just starting to bond. I honnestly believe that these kids are maturing together and the with time they will become a force in this league. There will be growing pains, as we have experienced in the past couple of weeks, but that's when you need ur vets to take over and cover for them (hint, hint) Whether we like to admit it or not ,this team will only go as far as these kids, (and Markov) will take them. Gainey ain't no fool. He knows this. He's seen it before, as a player and as a coach. Some kids might not work out, most will though. Add to this that our system is full of smart, educated and driven young men (Mc Donaugh, Pacioretty, Valetenko and hopefully Emelin) and not soft primadonnas (Esposito), and u'll understand that Gainey and Co. have a plan. Once this nucleus starts gaining the confidence it needs in order to start churning out win after win, it will be much easier to rotate the core and bring in new talent. This is what Detroit has done for years, and this is what ottawa is trying to do now. In the Cap protected NHL, you might be better off having young home grown middle of the line, productive talent than a team built around one or two superstars. Superstars are achilles heels in today's NHL. They might get you one cup, but the team wont be able to sustain its production cause ur superstar(s) salary requirements limit the quality of the supporting cast you need in order to compete. Tampa Bay and Atlanta come to mind... Let me ask you this, who would u rather go to war with; the world's most efficient brigade of paid merceneries? Or a bunch of buddies that you've grown with, bonded with, who believe in the same ideals as u and are ready to bleed for the good of the common cause? I thought so....

  15. Dear God you may be right!! Thank you for enlightening us. I think this kid had "it". "It" being what is missing from everyone else, including his older brother. Since coming to North America, he has consistently risen over and above his peers. So what if he was drafted in the late rounds? Plenty of other sleepers were as well. The fact is that this kid has Balls (and note the capital B) and he's proven it in the OHL, at an International Level and in the AHL. There is no reason why he can't continue this in the NHL. Slap his ass on a line with Koivu and watch this kid work. I think he has that certain X factor that helps him overexceed the level that others expect from him. He wants to be better, he enjoys being better and wants everyone around him to be better. Sorry if I sound over-zealous and premature in praising this kid but I need whatever reason I can find to keep my spirits up after the last few weeks. Come on Siarhei, prove me right!!!
  16. Something is gonna give today! I seriously believe the Habs are gonna smoke the Flyers. They are waaaaayyyy overdue. I'm predicting a guts n' glory victory, supported by fisticuffs and missing teeth.. Also, let's cheer for the Rook. He's been an underdog his whole life, but this kid can play, and he has spunk. !!Go Siarhei Go!!!
  17. While looking at the standings something hit me... We need a winning streak... BADLY!!
  18. Anyone have any luck with sopcast? I've been trying to connect but nothing... HELP!!
  19. I think the Flower has lost his marbles.. He might have been one of the all time greats but he remains classless in my book. I loved to watch him streaking down the wing as much as anyone but enough is enough. If u have nothing constructive or positive to say, don't say nothing at all. Jeeeez..and I thought Patrick was bad...
  20. I think that these next two games might be the most important of the season. Win these two, and u find urself breathing down the neck of the Senators... Lose them and u risk resurecting the wounded Buffalo.. They've won 2 straight, winning two more would do wonders to their ego. We need to prove to the league that we have the killer instinct. Beating Buffalo twice would further prove to the league that we are legitimate contenders and a force to be reckoned with. I am more concerned about beating the teams that are below us in the standings, thus further distancing ourselves from them than beating Ottawa for example. I'm expecting a huge game from Pleks...and my boy, Kostosouvlaki...don't ask me why... :hlogo: GO Habs GO :hlogo:
  21. If Kotso scores a hat trick tonight i'm sending free souvlaki and ouzo to everyone on HW!! GO KOTSO GO!!! :hlogo: Θωμας Κωστοπουλος! :hlogo:
  22. By dear George I think you may be on to something... Although I haven't had the novelty of watching game in game out due to the stupid time difference and choppy feed from Sopcast (thank God for Sopcast..) what I noticed watching last nights game is that C. Higgins is truly unbelievable. He is a man possessed. Responsible defensively, manic forechecker, unbelievably strong on the puck AND a vocal leader to top that off. This kid is only gonna get better as his confidence starts kicking into high gear. Having said that, Ryder is doing a lot of things better than what he used to during his first 3 seasons in Mtl. He's hussling, forechecking, skating and hitting. Although this is good in a sense, it might not be beneficial to his overall play; reason being he focusing too much on doing things he thinks he should be doing, and not what brought him here in the first place: SCORING. Higgins is the go to guy on that line. Ryder isn't. He USED to be. That line needs to be complemented with further speed, and with a shot. It's about time we see Mr. Kostistyn on that line.... Question is, which of the two...
  23. Really pumped up for this one. Did anyone check to see if SOPCAST is up and working? I've been having some problems, and the last thing i want to resort to is CJAD. HELP!!!!!!!!!
  24. 4 for 4 tonite... Carey, Saku , Mike and Chris owe us a good performance tonite... Thank God for Sopcast!!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!!!
