  1. Thanks to the fact that North America has already gone to Daylight Savings Time and we haven't yet in Europe, I get to listen to the game an hour earlier.... SCORE ALREADY!!!
  2. Ok, all this talk about Poutine has left me craving cheese curds, soggy fries and groovy gravy... I've decided to lay it all on the line and pray to the Ancient Greek Gods to help our Habs make the playoffs. In return for their help and as a true habs fan I am offering...: IF THE HABS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS, I'M PLEDGING TO MAKE POUTINE AND STEAMIES FOR EVERY HABS FAN IN GREECE WHO PARTICIPATES ON HABSWORLD!!! THIS WILL START DURING GAME #1 OF THE PLAYOFFS AND VOW TO CONTINUE FOR EVERY HOME GAME THE HABS PLAY THOUGHOUT THE PLAYOFFS!!! Let's all hope I get to put my foot in my mouth now... :hlogo: GO HABS GO!!!! :hlogo: P.S. BYOB
  3. Laraque to Pittsburg for Daniel Carcillo (who?) and an 8th round pick in 2008. Pittsburg is making some solid moves... Youth and grit..
  4. Buffalo isn't done yet. I have a feeling that the draft pick Buffalo got from the Flyers (1st round 2007 from Nashville (Forsberg trade)) is gonna end up on another team like a cheap hooker... There is no way Buffalo is stockpiling picks for the future.
  5. Hard to keep up on everything that's going on from work...in Greece to top it all off.. You'd think that Buffalo would want to get something a little more useful than that. Seems to me that the dust hasn't settled on this deal yet. Buffalo should be getting a warm body to help them get through the playoffs
  6. No offence buddy, but if Khabibulin is your wet dream, I'd hate to see what your taste in women is like... Mind you, I would love Ian Laperriere in Montreal. However, it doesn't seem that the Habs have any imminent need for another 3rd-4th line player. (Although his passion and guts are the traits which one needs to make it to the end)
  7. My prayers were answered!! I had posted this in the "Where were u when the Habs won the Cup in 1993" and I thought I'd copy here as well. I've been looking for this video forever! Thank you Wamsley01 for digging this sentimetal moment of personal hockey history for this poor fan stuck on the other side of the Atlantic. Back to the topic of this thread. Youth can have a funny way of energizing this team. Their recklessness, zeal and energy can revitalize this group of veterens which seem to need a sense of direction. At the risk of sounding naive and irrealistic, anyone else think that we may be witnessing history in the (re)-making....??
  8. Totally off topic, and I know I might get drilled for this, but has i just heard Britney Spears shaved her head... http://www.tmz.com/2007/02/17/britney-shav...-fand-ing-head/ Thought some of you would get a laugh out of this.
  9. Just woke up in a cold sweat. I think I've been Overdosing on too many trade rumors. Just dreamt that I woke up and logged on to TSN to see that overnight the Habs had made a significant trade. This is how it went down; Montreal and New Jersey. Chris Higgins for Brian Rafalski!! Uggghhhhh And to top it all off, the Brian Rafalski in my dream had the face of Travis Green.
  10. I've had enough of waking up in the morning and logging on to TSN just to see that our team has put in another shameless effort. The bandwagon's wheels are rattling big time. Someone has loosened all the bolts to the point where they are ready to fall off for good. This game, in my humble opinion, can save our season. NO ONE IS EXPECTING US TO WIN IN New Jersey tonight. IF we can pull this game out of our kabouss we might be able to get the confidence and energy which is needed to get back on track. Time for the "Leaders" on this team to step up. This is what they are paid the big bucks for. Show some character, resilience and pride and get those two points. :hlogo: GO HABS GO :hlogo:
  11. I must be the unluckiest Habs fan in the world. Born in Montreal in 1976, and having lived a total of over 20 years in the city, I have never, ever had the chance to witness the Habs win the Cup. In 1993, I was living in Athens Greece. I was in bed sleeping when the phone rang at 5am, waking up the whole household. It was my cousin from Montreal, screaming frantically, letting me know that the Habs had just won the Cup. Keep in mind that this is before the internet, where you could listen to games online. I had to wait for a two day old USA Today in order to get any type of news (including scores) to the hockey games. Mind you, Greek Newscasts were showing scenes from the rioting in Montreal the day after we won. I was so proud and happy that Montreal was getting any type of news coverage on Greek TV, especially because Greeks knew absolutely nothing about Hockey. My cousin (God Bless Him!) video taped Game 5 for me and sent it the next day. I got it in the mail 4 weeks later. I cried when I first saw it.... Now coming back to what Wamsley01 wrote about Claude Lemieux and that game 7 against Hartford. That game was the most dramatic, most intense, most gratifying game I ever had the opportunity to watch. If my memory serves me correctly, Lemieux scored from between the hash marks, on a back hand over the left shoulder of Mike Liut. We were in the basement of our house in Joliette with the rest of the family and absolutely went nuts. If anyone can find a clip or highlights from that game I would be eternally grateful.
  12. Well, you can now add AHL Player of the Week to Andrei Kostitsyn resume. 5G 3A in 4 games isn't too shabby. I hope this kid continues his production and fire-wagon brand of hockey. I'd love to see him called up to the big team.
  13. It never ceases to amaze me how aggresive women can get when they are in the presence of a rich and famous "hunk". "Women wanna ride your stick.." "Wanna give me your home phone number?" If a guy were to make comments we'd be chauvenists...women on the other hand are witty and cute. Pleaasssseeeee....What a half a@# reporting job... At least have the decency to memorize your questions and ad-lib if need be.
  14. Well.... You can go and cross Nagy right off that list. Stars seem to have picked him up for a 1st Rounder. Kinda gives you an impression of what it's gonna cost us to get anything decent come Feb. 27th.
  15. According to Eklund, Samsonov has just cleared waivers.. WE'RE RICH!!!!!!!! Let the shopping spree begin...
  16. Does anyone who since the new CBA has been signed if any player has been claimed off waivers BEFORE he was actually sent down to the minors? Sorry to break everyone's bubble, but I agree with Macaskill. It's unlikely sone team will pluck him off the waiver wire and be liable for his 3.5 million. Mind you I think they'll be a long line of potential takers when Samsonov will be going through waiver re-entry.
  17. It's a step closer to signing Markov and Souray, providing that the Habs really want to keep both of them. I have a funny feeling that Bob is gonna make a very bold statement. Looking at the depth by position of our team we have a serious need for a bonafide 1st line Center. Gainey knows this. He also knows that it's gonna cost him. Question is, does he try and swing a blockbuster trade in order to obtain this coveted center or will he wait till this off-season in order to address the glaring need. I think he might be more willing to move now than later for two reasons: 1) Any help he gets now will help the Habs make a valiant push to moving far in the playoffs. 2) Judging from his experience in the UFA market last summer, it might be much harder for him to draw highly coveted FA and UFA to Montreal. Teams on the bubble, like Florida, LA, Phoenix, Chicago etc. might be more willing to "dump" high profile players now than they would be in the off-season. The eastern conference seems to be totally wide open if we take into consideration the funk that Buffalo is currently in. Our team might just be a trade (and a hot goaltender) away from coming out of the East.
  18. Wow... Seems to me like something is brewing. Rumors have been rampant over the past couple of days, however I don't know if comments and articles like this are putting Habs management in a position of strength. I personally think that Samsonov can contribute to Montreal if the team sticks with him. However, the contribution that he is presently providing (strong forechecking, non defensive liability) is not worth the 3.5 million which we have signed him for. Samsonov risks becoming last year's Radek Bonk, in other words someone who has had to alter his role in order to fit in with the club. Problem is that that's not the reason he's getting paid all that money. His role can be filled up by someone who's making a fraction of that amount. IF Bob can find someone out there who thinks that Samsonov can return to his offensive production, thus liberating the necessary cap space which Montreal so desperately needs in order to obtain the 1st/2nd line center which is so badly needed, he would do so in a heartbeat. Question is, what (if anything) can we get in return and whom will Bob try and obtain by the trade deadline?
  19. I can go to sleep happy. I wish I could have watched this game on TV. Habs fans who are able to actually watch games on a daily basis tend to forget how lucky and priviledged they are. As good as a game might sound on the radio, watching our team win with a 2-1 break in overtime just makes you celebrate so much more. Anyway, thanks to everyone on HW for keeping me company once again. I have really become a HW junkie; one that constantly is looking for his fix... I hope that the Habs will make us all proud and lay it all on the ice, day in day out. Do it for Montreal, do it for your fans, do it for the history of this team. Habs fans from the four corners of the world are here to support you. We eat live and breath Les Habitants.. Make us proud. GO HABS GO
  20. Who would have thought Mark Streit would be our most versatile player? The consumate team player...a true leader, one who never complains, leads by example and takes advantage of the opportunites given to him. I'm starting to really like this #32.
  21. MY BAD... PK TIME Sorry jumped the gun a bit.. Make that 5 on 3 UGHHHH
  22. Hey guys... Back again today. Hopefully things will go better. This is one really #$%@#$*& up line up!! Hope Carbo's lighten a light under their ass.... PP TIME!!!
