  1. Buddy, stick to hockey. The paddock has NOTHING to do with F1 being taken away. It's all about cash, and the blank cheques that are offered to F1 by other countries who want to hold a race.
  2. My prediction... The Canadiens finish strong, and make the playoffs. Firing Carbo was the right move to make, the team quit on it's coach. When Steve Bégin was traded, I was worried he'd rip Koivu or Kovalev. He didn't, what he did say was that Carbo didn't bother to communicate with his own players. Bob's loyalty, in my opinion, delayed yesterdays move 3 or 4 weeks, but it had to be done. The sun came up this morning, and I think the team is better today.
  3. Pronger and/or Bouweester are just not possible in a salary cap world. Assuming Komisarek get's signed to a hefty raise, that leaves us with high priced Markov and Hamrlik as well. You can't have over 20 million tied up with 4 defencemen. To further complicate this, as well all know, the cap is expected to decrease.
  4. Not sure where I heard it, perhaps my sirius satelite radio, but Laraque may be bought out this summer. If he is out for the season, this may be it for his time as a habs.
  5. If it get's blown up, Bob goes with it. What, another 5 year plan?? Where's the accountability??
  6. That useless tool at tsn, Darren Dreger, says Jokinen is in Bob's sights...
  7. Oh ya?? Maybe there's some hope for our local media.
  8. Bob is absolutely getting hammered on french language message boards. The popular opinion is he basically traded a francophone (Begin) for an anglophone (Metropolit). C'mon Bob, prove everyone wrong!!!
  9. I couldn't stand the sight of him after that dumb penalty in Philadelphia last year. Farewell Mr. Begin.
  10. Well I guess we've come full circle. What you describe is what we were all hoping for. The team Bob put together over the summer, with a key veteran or two sprinkled in for the playoff drive. Everyone stay healthy, Price finds his game, keep on keeping on...
  11. Just caught a Mats Sundin interview on the CBC. He compared the leafs to the yankees. I nearly upchucked my shish-taouk take out!!!! I guess swedes don't follow baseball. Mats, the leafs are like the cubs, get it right please.
  12. With the way Kovalev has been treated, it makes signing a free agent even more difficult. NOBODY signs here as it is, and hey, I live here, I think it's a great city. Who'd sign here? if you don't play well, you get sent home. That's the perception.
  13. I love your optimism, I just worry about giving up on the most exciting player, Kovalev, we've had in 20 years. While I trust in Bob, I don't like the way this was handled. Making a fool of Alex, only to invite him back, and hope like hell he discovers his game and get the organization a couple of home playoff games.
  14. This may get messy. Local radio is suggesting that a good reason for the poor play of late, is that the players who may be involved are worried about the legal ramifications of being associated with someone who was just arrested.
  15. That first line of yours doesn't get us into the playoffs. Boumeester?? The list of high profile free agents that we've tried and failed to sign is so long it's embarrassing.
  16. Trade Kovalev eh, for what more draft picks?? Imagine a scenario in which Koivu says, screw it, I'll sign in Minnesota to play with my brother. Add to the mix that Tanguay never really wanted to sign here, imagine he signs elswhere. The 5 year Bob Gainey plan we'll be out the window, and we'll be starting over.
  17. I'd have to agree with BTH on this one. Red's a throw back to when newspapers were relevant. I can recall in the 80's, he refered to the habs as team "whoosh", because of their speed. Uh hello?? I know it was tongue in cheek stuff, but it was high school level at best. And the name dropping in his weekly column is tough to take. I'll say one thing though, he does go back to those simpler times.
  18. Alcohol is a legal product, the key is, as with everything, MODERATION.
  19. Now that's a fan!!!! Although you lose some points for not having to deal with Canadian winters. I've been to Greece, it's paradise. I never thought a tomato could taste so good, and the ice-cream, WOW.
  20. You missed the point my friend, you had a scenario that had Tremblay coaching the leafs. Anyway, it's pathetic, but I agree with you. Any future coach must speak french, which also means we'll never get the best available candidate.
  21. We win tonight, we're back in 4th place, home ice in first round. I have a "flare" for the obvious? Maybe.
  22. You obviously never heard former ranger coach Michel Bergeron speak english. His command is laughable. And english is supposed to be his 2nd language! And these media clowns here in Montreal give Koivu a hard time, english is his 2nd language, and it's impeccable.
  23. I totally agree with your take on the centennial. It's almost sacreligious to say, but true. Oh, and if I hear another debate on retired numbers, WHO CARES...
  24. I don't see any mention of trades because of the centennial year in this thread??
