  1. Good job on the stats AP79. I pick Hainsey because of the possible upside. He is 6'3" had 2 points in 11 games with Montreal and a +3 in +/- in 2003-2004. He is young, 211lbs and will probably fill out some more. I think Striet is a good defenceman but we do have to get a little tougher back of the blue line or our guys are going to get pushed around. I think Hainsey is tougher but that's my opinion.
  2. Brett38 is right. Why waste resources on another goalie? And who is left out there that can stop a puck.
  3. Also, Pat Hickey wrote a classic the other day: "Leafs depend on brain- damaged duo of Lindros and Allison..." Actually, its JFJ who's brain damaged if he thinks that he will get a full season out of either of those two hahahahahaha  this kills me! When they signed them I was wondering what JFJ was doing. We sign Kovalev and get criticized by the one Toronto reporter that picked it up (All that was said was too much money). Lindros is a walking concusion bomb. Alison cannot play a whole season, he cant even stay healthy in one preseason game. Oneil was a good trade for Toronto though...Carolina gave him to Toronto...Grrrr:wall:
  4. I wouldn't trade Zednik's left skate for dressing-room-cancer Witt. Leafs Suck, where did you read this. Sometimes guys get a false reputation because another guy is not happy with them. Which is why I never get involed in Corporate Politics at work. Is it fact or fiction, I do not know....
  5. Montreal played so tough they injured Lindros, Allison and Oneil. Ok so Kaberle took out Oneil. All three have minor injuries (hmmmmm... maybe they are still trying to catch their breath watching the fast habs forwards) Had fun watching the Leaf channel tonight as the Heatly line got 11 points. Going to be tough for the Habs against the Sens this year.
  6. Hossa Perrezhogin Plekanec Begin Dagenais Vandemeer My extra 6. We do have many good forwards which is great. My only concern is after Markov and Surray on D, whom do we keep up with the big club? Off topic: Good to hear that Jose likes his new pads that it makes him faster and he likes them already.
  7. Streit to me did not have a good game falling down two times and geting rubbed out on the boards. I wish Montreal was tougher on the "D" then Streit would have a much easier time on the ice. I think we have to try and get one tough defenseman to help out. Does not have to be fast, just smart and TOUGH. Maybe Gainey is looking at trading for a D? My 2 cents It was a fun game to watch as the Habs are really gifted offensively as they buzzed around Torontos net all night.
  8. Martha Burk hahahahaha who is that? Give me a break, has anyone not watched cable or know that the USA is home to the Porn industry. There are many more things that denegrate woman and their standing in our world. She should be putting more effort against the Porn industry than this ad. She did not even know about it until the Toronto Star contacted her. If she goes to sporting events I am sure she is just watching the game, not the guys:nono: in the prime of their lives.
  9. habs#4,9,10,33 welcome aboard to the NHL's greatest hockey team's real website. I have only been here about a month and this is a very informative, fun place for all things Canadien. Looking forward to tonights game, chips and chip dip ready to go...... GO :hlogo: Go
  10. I watched the last game on Leafs TV with the volume off and CJAD on internet radio. Kind of funny watching the play then going to commercial while the play is still going on internet radio. Now that is time delay. Looking forward to RDS tonight. Regulars in, better shifts and less line juggling shall make this interesting. Giving RDS my money and time instead of CBC is a much better investment as a habs fan. :hlogo: [Edited on 2005/9/24 by Howie_Morenz]
  11. shortcat1, I posted this elsewhere today. I like to criticize Toronto Maple Leaf fans and Toronto media only! Its all in good fun though as realistically there is not hate in my heart for any human being in any country. There is no way I would hate my brother, best friend or even my x-girlfriend as it is a sport. My favorite of all favorite players was Darryl Sittler of the Toronto Maple Leafs. I never look back at losses with bitter resentment like Toronto fans and Toronto media, because that is history. Hey I am a Miami Dolphin fan and know what losing is like! Facts are: Montreal won, Toronto never got to the show. You cannot win the Stanley Cup if you do not get to the finals. That is Toronto's biggest problem, it is all talk with no substance or facts. :ghg: [Edited on 2005/9/24 by Howie_Morenz]
  12. hankhab you are right. Although writing to a Toronto Rag as a fan of the mighty Montreal Canadiens will only get ignored. They dont care about any team but Toronto as the Leafs generate so much money here it is incredible. I dont hate the Leaf team, in fact some of my favorite players were Leafs. Sittlers 10 point night against Boston is still unmatched and I loved it. I like to criticize Toronto Maple Leaf fans and Toronto media only! Its all in good fun though as realistically there is not hate in my heart for any human being in any country. Can you smell the winds of Lord Stanleys mug headed for the fabulous province of Quebec!
  13. I agree, Richard Zednik is one of those guys that you trade and they come back to bite you in the fanny. I did not like him at first. Now I think he is an important part of the first line. Only if we could trade a future prospect or draft pick would I trade for Witt. Montreal is like a gold mine right now, and many clubs are going to try and trade for our forwards.
  14. I am ready to see what our regulars can do against "Oh My Sore Back" Belfour on RDS. 55 shots on net would be nice against him I was impressed with Montreal's speed last game against the team that has not won since 1967. I was not impressed with the line changes and long shifts though.:wall: Better execution and chemistry to get the team ready for the regular season would be a great start. I appreciate the work in providing the lineups in these posts Spider-Man. Go :hlogo: Go
  15. Also you have to realize in Hockey the regular season is just warmup. If you are not ready for the playoffs then you will be beat. We all know Montreal was not an expected finalist after the regular season. The Montreal Canadiens are a playoff organization. Only getting to the playoffs is not enough, the guys have to have heart and Montreal always finds someone to lead the team. Saku is one of my all time favorite sports figures and he has talent, plays like a big guy and is all heart. We always seem to have a guy like this. Kirk Muller, Chris Chelios, Larry robinson, Bob Gainey. Many teams have won the cup when it was least expected. Colorado's first, Tampa's first, Calgary's in '94? (I'm not sure if '92 or '94) This is why I think the Habs are on the right track and are going to suprise people over the next three years. Ah what do I know, Just an old habs fan since 1970.
  16. All I have to say to The (Toronto Maple Leaf) Hockey News is "Up yer Kilt" They have no concept of the Habs. Habs organization growing impatient with Hossa. And the source of the quote was ??? I find it hard to separate fact from fiction in media in North America. It is all spin to make them look good. I bought too many copies of this magazine in the old days and it was well done as a startup company. Now I get more information from the board members here than I can ever hope to get from them. Keep up the great work here HW members.
  17. Latendresse should play! Rats, I was looking foward to him squishing a few Leafs. Who said life was fair?
  18. shortcat1, NEVER would the tired out Gilmor and blue and white gang beat the 93 Habs. This is just loser talk! Patrick Roy was an unbeatable force and the Lowly Leafs cried instead of winning the next game. Just win, dont make excuses, LA had Gretzky and Montreal beat them in 5. People who look back at this saying could of / should of are loser leaf fans. (Not you, you just brought up the point) When Ken Dryden won his first Stanley Cup was Montreal the Favorite then? No, you never know what can happen in the playoffs. How about loser Belfore and his only Stanley Cup. It was NO GOAL. hull was in the crease and Buffalo was screwed. However, this is history so Buffalo must rebuild and try again. My point in this entire rant is that since 1967 the lowly Leafs have never had the talent to even get into the finals. Period. Enough leaf hatred for now.... Must think good Canadiens Stanley Cup thoughts..
  19. ch for life, You Kill Me. this is one of the funniest things I read in a long time about Quinn and Toronto :/) If we can get Witt (NOT for any of our top 6 forwards) it would be a major help on defense. I am not convinced our defense is set. It is not bad, just not tough enough to play physically against those walking Redwood Trees in Philly. As long as the Habs are skating hard I am sure they can skate rings around Flyers, Leafs. Must skate fast though!
  20. My own personal congradulations as well. The heart and soul of any community is the people that keep the community alive being active and inviting to others. This is the only board I have ever posted on because it feels like home! The best part is all the Habs fans across the world that participate here. :ghg:
  21. We all know they will slow down calling penalties. The question is what penalties will they overlook? The game last night when Bullis got a penalty behind the Leafs net for getting out of the way was ridiculous. Obviously in Leaf land penalties will always favor the Blue and White team until they can win without help from the pinstripes all by themselves!
  22. Mr. Prime Minister Koivu, Leaf fans are all over me too, brothers, freinds, x-girlfriend... grrr... I have one word to say to them that drives them and Toronto Radio personalities absolutely nuts. 1967! How can any fan of a team criticize another when they have not even got out of their conference since 1967? When they speak to me all I say is 1967. When they press I say 1967. When they get all giddy from a Leaf win I say 1967. Oh how I love being a :hlogo: fan, winner of 24 Stanley Cups. Have to go now, some Leaf fans around here need to be reminded of Canada's real hockey team.
  23. Very nicely said! I want the team to win, not wait for another year like the Loser team in Toronto. Price clearly is a fabulous goalie from what I saw him do last night. The toe save when he could barely see the puck was fantastic. The new NHL means win now, not 7 years down the road and if the youngest guys are the best players on the team then bring them on. It's all about winning, I am convinced Danis would be the backup and he probably will. I am more impressed with Price though.
  24. ap79, I could not agree more with what you wrote. I love the lines and alternating analogy. Is it just me or did the defenceman on Montreal look weak last night. Poor Danis and Price had no chance on any of the goals as there was always multiple LEAVES in the crease area and one 2-on1 break. I thought the coaching stunk last night too as the line changes were way too long and the Toronto Maple Referees were out in full force on the ice last night. Hope Zednik - Koivu - Kovalev line plays this weekend!
  25. Leafs Starting Lineup: Hmmm.. Uh.... Hey is there anyone on that team outside of Sundin that anyone can remember? I think there is that dirty guy that takes players out at the knees and the other guys that like to get injured. What are their names ?- Must Destroy Leafs! Go :hlogo: Go:
