  1. t_fediuk If you have digital cable you cannot get RDS? I am with Cogeco and had to sign up to a Telefranco 2 package that give me 6 stations including RIS and RDS for $6.95 plus taxes. Bad part is you have to have digital cable and the digital box. I spend too much money on TV..........
  2. I am in agreement with DANFALCAO thoughts. I think it is hard to pay someone more than $5M now with the cap in place. Plus we have to give some of the young guys roster spots and actually let them play.
  3. It is interesting to see how different many of us are here on who should get a shot at the big club. The best feature about the Habs now is that there is depth in the organization. Now everyone on the team is not going to be an allstar, however there is tremendous potential talent for the third and fourth lines if the first two are the same as last year. I would like to see Corey Locke get a fair shot at the big club within the next two years as he has offensive talent. In juniors his last two years he scored 63 and 51 goals. In the new NHL the team has to score. Montreal cannot get into the habit of relying on Jose 90% of the time so they have to score. I don't think this is his year and hope they dont eventually trade him or let him walk in the future. It is so much fun to speculate with other habs fans.
  4. Who is considered a top defenceman now that there are new rules? Hatcher, Stevens(retired), Foot are all slow. I consider Blake in Colorado to be the big horse in the NHL stable. Hits hard, skates fast, shoots well, can pass tape to tape. You have to ask yourself how many guys like him in the NHL. If you have a bunch of skilled defenseman this should mask the fact that you do not have the top denceman in the league. Montreal is fine with Markov and Surray as offensive weapons. Every team in the league would trade for these guys so relax and enjoy the guys we have because it could be worse. Could be Washington or Toronto!
  5. Plekanec - Locke - Sundstrom I would love to watch this line play. I am really interested to hear (Thank you CJAD!) how Locke plays as he is a very good player and can hopefully find his way on to the team some day. I know this is just preseason, however you do get an idea of who wants to play on the big club the most. Does anyone know if RDS is going to show games in a re-broadcast? I just advanced my guide to tomorrow and nothing there! The Leaf channel shows live games so I am wondering if RDS is covering any games.
  6. beckham, you dont think and that is the problem here. You make no sense in some of your posts and to attack people is not the :hlogo: Canadien Fan way. In order for a team to do well I have agreed with you that top management, coaching and assistant coaches make the difference in a winning organization. It has more than frustrated me in the past. The Canadiens have won more cups than any other team. Serge won two running the big big show! You have won what exactly? So the team has the odd bad year, it is a cycle with all teams DUH! Bob Gainey is changing this organization for the good, for the fans and to bring back Lord Stanleys Cup to Montreal. If you have ideas and information to share can you could do it if you wanted without attacking people. Only a suggestion which you will probably ignore. The organization is now on a solid foundation with a good management team at the top. Does not leave you with much to complain about now does it...... Edit: Corrected the quote - please be sure that your quote of another post is working, use the preview function if necessary. Thanks. [Edited on 16-9-05 by HABS Fan Nr.1]
  7. HuH? :?- He is as usefull as the entire Leaf team. Does everyone not forget how he is not seen on the ice just as the second half of the season starts? I wish him well in Philly but I do believe he will do nothing there. Just a bench warmer in case they have a bunch of injuries.
  8. Koivu11 grown ups do not slap themselves and u is spelled "you". I do not live in Montreal so I have no clue how bad the media can be. :?- Thank you for educating me about Quebec media. :/) The centre of the Universe T-DOT is pathetic as well. Today Lindros is crying because a rookie hit him. Latest report from all the Toronto stations is that not only is Lindros a little sore, he got mad at a reporter because he was aked if he had a booboo from the hit. Maybe he got another concusion?
  9. sakukoivumc11 has exactly said what I was thinking. It is always too easy to blame the coach, coaches, or GM when it is the president of operations that did the hiring. I got trapped in thinking with the Trembly and Houle in charge they were the biggest problem. They should not have been hired in the first place because they did not know what they were doing. I watched both guys play hockey and have a great respect for both. beckham, as much as I like some of your posts, do you actually think Bondra is a hockey player? He could not even score on a gifted team like Ottawa. Bondra will get 7 points this year so yes Kovalev will be 9 times better point wise. :hlogo:
  10. I love this habs hockey talk. If Latendresse gets a shot at the NHL this year it would prove to us how good the draft was this year for Montreal. I was excited about both picks once I did some research. Mr. Price is also looking very good so far with the limited stats he has posted. Not expecting him to make the team, but good to give him a taste to see what there is to look forward to.
  11. evidentdread you brought up something that many people wonder about, but never wish on anyone. Injuries. On the Leaf Channels (Take you pick) this morning it was said Allison had a minor hip injury. OK, training camp and the old guys are hurting already. Lindros hit; I heard that Tie Dummy was mad at the rookie that nailed Erik the Brittle. Tie probably called for the team goon to step in because he is a finesse player now according to his stupid commercial with Dinosaur Don Cherry. hehehehe just wondering when we are going to start hearing the Leaf fans start saying they are built for the playoffs again. I am glad montreal is built to get to the playoffs!
  12. What is up with the French Media and Jose? He said he was kidding around and I take him at his word. If Quebec is as bad as Toronto I feel sorry for the Montreal players. Are we not allowed to have fun in Canada any more. I think it was funny without knowing what he was trying to do. You can tell by his face he was playing around. Jose for Prime Minister!
  13. TSN = The Stupid Network. They hire Leaf clowns that know nothing about hockey to analyze other teams. All of us could do a much better job as this seems to be a fair forum to other teams. We know how bad our team was in the past, but that was the past and this is now. We also give credit to teams that build contenders and I know I like watching players like Joe Sakic, Joe Thorton and many others from all different countries. I am just waiting to see when they hire Tie (Useless) Dummy for his hockey smarts to comment on hockey. He would only have two words... Uhhhh.. Drop Gloves Thanks for your insight Dummy!
  14. The Habs have a bunch of young guys with something to prove. They will finish 6th or 7th in the division. It is hard to make as many changes as some teams have made and be competitive. Montreal has a good base of guys that were there last year and new guys that deserve a shot. Of course this is just my opinion...:hlogo:
  15. Wow, glad to see CJAD is still broadcasting :hlogo: games. I now have Center Ice and RDS so I am set never to watch a Leaf game again. (Unless I need a comedy show to brighten my day) I really like the French sports station RIS too. These guys are loud and exciting with the highlights. I am now going to have to learn the French Language as my high school French is limited. Is anyone here going to sign up for Sat. Radio? I thought of it in the past if it ever came to Canada, just not sure if I can justify the luxury. Radio is fun and have enjoyed years of CJAD.
  16. Mariusz Czerkawski Brad Brown What is with the Leafs picking up rejected X-Habs? Is this going to be the trend one would ask. Czerkawski, well we don't have to go into that we saw him play. But Brad Brown? Does anyone remember Canadiens drafting him 18th overall in the 1994 draft. Yikes, if he could not make our team that is a very questionable signing. The continuing rumour in Leaf Land is that Fergie has the Master Plan. Hahahahahahahahaha!
  17. Bulis_the_Habbie good post. :/) If we let the management team off the hook for the travesty that happened in the 90's I would say shame on us. That '95 draft is a pathetic showing for our scouting and management staff at the time. Bob Gainey I hope will make people responsible for their work.
  18. "26 NHL goaltenders born in Brandon?! You mean since the invention of hockey, right?!" Hahahahahahaha good one ap79! I think beckham should provide a list, or not. Back on the subject of this thread, is it for sure that Ron Hainsey and Mike Komisarek will be with the big club? I think both will be with the bulldogs at least one more year. Plus how many defenseman does Hamilton have signed for this year. 3? Yikes I am out of touch with the farm team......
  19. Whether the Leafs make the playoffs or not is irrelevant. They do not have the youth to sustain any type of playoff momentum. This is a tough sport and you need the young guys with talent to carry a very large portion of the play deep into the playoffs. Colorado and Detroit may have some older guys, but they do play their young guys which provides success. Leafs did themselves in with the Nolan trade and I think that is the big problem they are now faced with. Personally, I dont care if they make the playoffs because my cheers all go for the :hlogo: We have a great mix and I see us between 6th to 8th spot in our conference.
  20. ap79, you really did not say anything but beat around the bush. So much for your Point, Premises, arguement theory. Although I do agree with the thought about backing up a point. Instead of being in rage with members of the Canadien society here, sometimes you have to read between the lines to catch their meaning. I made the point that Montreal's coaching has really not been good because I question it. This is basically what beckham mentioned with goaltending coaches. Montreal has become a weak franchise because of coaching, drafting and horrendous trades. You said coaching could be good, bad or sideways. HUH and DUH! Do you think some of us are stupid? What is your opinion on Montreal and the farm teams coaching, up to the task? As far as bringing a point forward, are we supposed to clear this through you before posting? That would make life rather dull here . Glad to see we can argue and be friends as our hockey team is what binds us! :ghg:
  21. puck7x you make a very valid point however there is a flaw. Not your flaw, you have been trapped in the CBC flaw. How deep in our pockets do the government agencies go to take our money and produce crap on this station, like the Maple Leaf Hockey team? Here's what happens (It shocked me) An hour of premium canadian programming costs $1million. Canadian broadcasers pay licence fee of $200,000-$250,000 per hour while taking in $65,000-$95,000 dollars. In the French Canadian market it is 5 times more expensive to produce Canadian content then to import and translate American programming. Canadian producers recover their costs through (Your tax dollars in Large Letters) PUBLIC SUBSITIES and foreign sales. Up to 60% comes from public sources like broadcast fees, the CANADIAN TELEVISION FUND, TAX CREDITS, PROVINCIAL FILM COMMISIONS, and CRTC mandated private funds. Now that my tax dollars are used on a channel that I do not watch, I have to PAY to get RDS in my home town in order to watch the most glorius hockey team ever created. Hey I had to back up my point in the CBC flaw. This stuff is all available on http://www.cbc.radio-canada.ca Open the markets, forget provincial blackouts and dump CBC. Now back to regular postings :ghg:
  22. Bulis_the_Habbie makes a good point here. How does teams like Detroit draft guys that other teams always want? I think scouting has to be the most important part of sports. More so than the GM who makes the call. Detroit, Colorado and even Philly now have a good system. What does everyone think of Montreal's? I have had no faith in it until Bob Gainey took over the team. I hope this can be rectified as it is the lifeblood of the team. Price was the best pick for us and I hope this is a start of the new Montreal. I really liked our second pick too!
  23. WoW, you guys keep beckham on his toes. He does make some good points but there are contradictions I will never agree with. Olaf has never done anything! PERIOD. He had one good year and that is it. His low GAA over his career is due to good "Defense" in Washington as they had lots of clutch and grabbers that slowed the opposition down. His playoff stats are OK nothing special and no games are memorable. Guys like Patrick Roy and Jose Theodore have driven their teams to success when none should have been found. I agree with beckham that Fluery is destined to fail because the Pens are all about offense. At least Montreal drafts some defensive defenseman to help. The contradictions that still remain are that beckham states Carey's father the coach and Olaf the coach are better than Montreal's coaching system. Wrong! What have they done to warrant this much trust? He is correct that coaching can ruin players and I have had that in the back of my mond with Montreal's farm system in the past. Fathers are torture on kids, go to games and watch as it is sad. I coached girls softball for 5 years and the parents were not up to the task of being parents. (I know not the same, but parents can be tough) I will not throw everything beckham says out the window as he does bring up good points for us to argue about.
  24. I for on hate whipping boy comments. Patrice put up with a lot of -CENSORED- and I was embarrassed to be a habs fan when that happened. Yes he coughed the puck up but so did Saku and Sheldon and a bunch of others. I know he did it many times and this is a coaching problem for decisions they made. Maybe they overplayed him as his defensive abilities are well you know. He is a fast guy who can play the offensive part of the game. We need all the guys to pull together to be successful and to play within their limitations. Asking someone to be something they are not capable of only hurts the team. I cheer on all the habs players and will never boo them. Just the habs fan in me!
