  1. One line change of sorts from the morning skate. Leblanc is back on the 3rd line RW in place of Nokelainen (they were swapped last game).
  2. My quick (and I mean quick) writeup of this morning's events. http://www.habsworld.net/article.php?id=2672
  3. Assistant GM Larry Carriere named assistant coach, taking Cunneyworth's spot. I must say that's a little underwhelming.
  4. It's official. Cunneyworth takes over for the remainder of the season.
  5. Tonight's referee: The one, the only...Chris Lee! Time to start hiding all portable items that can be thrown at the television.

  7. Campbell is still technically an advisor to Shanahan, as is Mike Murphy (who replaced Campbell in Boston-related incidents).
  8. Same with NBC; if nothing comes of it, he'll be back on both networks much to the dismay of most fans. Maybe PJ Stock will get his first appearance on the Hotstove?
  9. Hamilton has made the long trek out West for the first of a pair of games against former division rival, Abbotsford. Active scoring leaders: Goals: Philip DeSimone (6) Assists: Brian Willsie (11) Points: Brian Willsie (14) +/-: Andreas Engqvist (+3) PIMS: ZacK FitzGerald (107) Active scoring leaders: Goals: Krys Kolanos (12) Assists: Walter/Wilson (12) Points: Krys Kolanos (23) +/-: Jon Rheault (+6) PIMS: Guillaume Desbiens (61) Puck drop is at 10:00 PM EST and can be listened to by clicking this link: http://cham.player.amri.ca/
  10. They have. http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey/nhl/article/1103247--mike-milbury-off-hockey-night-in-canada-after-charged-with-assaulting-boy-at-son-s-game?bn=1
  11. That was a tough call on the no-goal. Still, the PP should have scored there, they surely had enough chances to bury one. Philly most certainly has the momentum going into the 2nd but the Habs, on the tail end of the 5-on-4, can change that in a hurry. Price credited with 3 giveaways in that period, he'll need to shore up the puck handling. So far, the Emelin on the right experiment continues to cause problems, this is why he originally was planned to sit (before Diaz got sick), to give him some experience before throwing him to the wolves. For those watching on TSN, they noted Cammalleri wasn't shooting much at home. I think he got the message with 4 shots in the 1st.
  12. Proactive thinking, good idea. I'm curious to see how much (little) ice time the 4th line sees in this one. Blunden fell out of favour with Martin after that penalty in New York while Weber does not have the confidence of the staff either. I wonder if they'll be going with primarily 3 lines with Nokelainen subbing in as a winger for Leblanc from time to time.
  13. No, not every fan. I for one am looking forward to his return as he was looking like he was starting to get things back on track before going down again.
  14. Chris Lee is one of the referees for the game tonight. Time to start cringing?
  15. So Paul finally gets dealt to LA...but to the Clippers. The package consists primarily of young guys and an unprotected pick, nowhere near the calibre of players coming back in the Laker proposal. To make matters worse, the NBA took over the negotiations from the GM. Suffice it to say, the Lakers aren't happy about this. Can't say I blame them, this is a huge black eye on the league that they basically made worse.
  16. Officially, the word is that Diaz is sick.
  17. In my books, he has. Is he a future NHL'er? Probably not but he could still be a solid AHL piece that every team needs, capable of playing the odd game as a callup if/when (likely the latter) injuries arise.
  18. Lake Erie got a late PPG in the 2nd and the only goal in the shootout as they take this one 2-1. Interestingly enough, despite not scoring, Willsie was named first star. The point was enough to once again take them solely out of dead last in the conference - they're in a 3 way tie now. http://theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1009029
  19. 1-0 Hamilton in a bit of a defensive tilt. Avtsin with the PPG for Hamilton.
  20. An all-too familiar foe comes to town as the Bulldogs host Lake Erie. Active scoring leaders: Goals: Hugh Jessiman (10) Assists: Barrie/Walker (11) Points: Greg Mauldin (15) PIMS: Hugh Jessiman (48) +/-: Cameron Gaunce (+7) Active scoring leaders: Goals: Philip DeSimone (6) Assists: Brian Willsie (11) Points: Brian Willsie (14) PIMS: Zack FitzGerald (107) +/-: Andreas Engqvist (+2) Puck drop is at 7:30 PM EST and can be listened to by clicking this link: http://cham.player.amri.ca/
  21. If I had to guess, I'd suggest Kaberle's predecessor (Spacek) had a role in it. When he came to the Habs, he had basically (save for a game or two I'm sure) been exclusively used as a left d-man, just like Kaberle. We know that didn't go over well; it was tough for 'an old dog to learn a new trick,' so to speak. Like Spacek, Kaberle has been a left D in his career, it's reasonable to assume there would be similar difficulties. Emelin on the other hand, is a rookie and hasn't played left defence as long. It can be inferred that it would be easier to try and convert him (much like Gorges when he joined the team) and 'teach a new dog a new trick.' The trial by fire (NJ) didn't work so they're going to go slow with him. Looking at the roster moving forward, if Markov's healthy, he and Kaberle are manning 2 of the 3 LD spots through 2014...barring trade of course. It's really in Emelin's and the teams' best interest long-term (and short-term) to go through this growing pain; this should help keep him in the lineup down the road.
  22. Thanks for the kind words. As for a capology course, there are more qualified people than me out there. Not sure anyone has attempted it either, short of perhaps that course that Sports Management Worldwide runs. Truth be told, I'm fortunate to have some good contacts who have been kind enough to shed some detailed insight so that I can turn around and use that in my capsheet and on here/in articles. Explaining it to others is not a strong suit of mine though. Heck, I can't even get the LTIR projections to balance out entirely (I can get them within a hundred bucks or so which means there's something slightly askew with one of my formulas but considering they won't be in LTIR all that long, I'm not going to bother spending a whack of time trying to solve it...).
  23. Same deal as last time. As it was an emergency recall, he's exempt for waivers until 30 days or 10 games elapse, whichever is first. As for the cap effect, this puts the Habs back into LTIR which means I get to pull more hair out re-inputting the formulas I just took out last week when they got out of it.
  24. There's no way LA would even remotely consider this. Apparently, Cammalleri's term with the Kings previously didn't end too well so now that he makes double what he did then (while producing less), they'll want to trade their captain for him? Adding a Campoli or a Diaz won't help the deal either; if they were to remotely consider it, a much more valuable secondary piece would be necessary, one that the Habs wouldn't want to include.
