  1. There have been a few incidents, two of which involved him and his old man.
  2. Galchenyuk should have to earn that second line spot, it isn't his to lose. Since joining the habs he has not played like a second line player. Sure, he is not playing his natural center, but I fail to see how adding more defensive responsibility on a guy who already struggles with that aspect is going to immediately improve anything. With that in mind bringing in Malholtra affords them the opportunity to trade Pleks if they can find a good scoring winger, so Galchenyuk may get moved back to C, but he isn't going to get handed top 6 minutes until he proves he can handle them.
  3. Ryan white has always been one of my favorite players for the habs since he came up. However, a change in scenery will do him good. If it was 5 vs 5 all the time I would take White over Moen in a second, but white is not nearly the penalty killer that Moen is and that tips the scales. Moen is also a better fighter, imo. White has a place in the NHL, just no room for him on the habs.
  4. I like this. The team has really overachieved under Therrien, and although he makes some questionable usage decisions, how can we really fault him when they seem to lead to success? My only complaint is that the young D has not really flourished thus far under his leadership. Next year is a big year for those kids. Plus they can always fire him if things turn south.
  5. Geez, if only there was a way to tell if their current staff is sufficient.... Perhaps wildly exceeding expectations two years in a row would be a good gauge of their effectiveness? But of course MT is singling out PK because he is black, it has nothing to do with the fact that he was on the ice for all three OTT goals in the first 5 mins of the game and was responsible for covering the scorer 2/3 plays. Furthermore I recall Tinordi getting benched on Numerous occasions for sloppy play. Mr Wilde compares Subban to Gionta (our captain ladies and gentleman) which is a totally unfair comparison. People watch Subbans numbers and think he is going backwards, he is actually taking a maturity step forwards. This is what Subban needs, he is not the only player on this team as so many of you seem to perceive him. Regardless, to answer this puzzling question, Guy Carbonneau deserves the job in my opinion if MT goes anywhere. he did a bang up job with a weak habs team last time around, and personally I feel as though had he not been such a young coach and had to coach players that he played with it would have turned out totally different. Still, getting rid of MT is a mistake, just like 'Getting rid of DD for nothing' was a mistake that many of you now see.
  6. Habs fans are funny. We are going to fire MT now for greener pastures? Why exactly? What you guys need to realize is that it doesn't matter who the coach is, the habs are not an elite team yet. We could literally put ANYONE in that position and the results are not going to improve, and perhaps worsen. This team is not limited by its coaching staff, it is limited by the overall skill and size of the team. Ted Nolan of all people is probably the worst choice ever. Yeah Latvia won a game at the Olympics, it was a great story, but that doesn't mean jack. By NHL standards he is not an elite coach by any stretch and bringing him in to replace our current coach (Who by the numbers is a dramatic improvement over our last 2 coaches) would be crazy. Not to mention he is currently employed, but that is irrelevant compared to the other argument. Here is a crazy idea, why don't we wait to crucify MT when he is losing with an elite team, rather than when he is winning with a mediocre team (Which is exactly what the habs are doing right now). This team is outperforming any pre-season predictions by the best guessers in the business.... why are we getting rid of MT? This guy has turned this team completely around in less than a full season with nominal additions. He does not slam players in the media, always says the right things, and you can tell he genuinely cares about his players and the future of the team. Just my thoughts. Greener pastures always look better on the horizon though.
  7. Im sorry, but if you actually think 'This' you need to give your head a shake. You don't just give a guy like Subban the whole leash, because he takes it and runs with it until it is tighter than it has any business being. Subban has an attitude that he is above the team, you can see it constantly with the way he behaves. In order to be a pro athlete you can't have that type of attitude. You guys say that stars need to be able to shine, that is what MT is doing. If Subban does what Subban wants he is constantly making mistakes on the ice and being caught out of position. MT is merely structuring his growth, as ANY coach in the national hockey league would be doing if Subban was a member of his team. No coach would just let him do his thing, because coaches are not idiots and are tasked with player development in cases like this. Seriously guys, this is not atom hockey, this is NHL. MT did the absolute right thing benching PK, just like he does with EVERY OTHER PLAYER ON THE ROSTER WHEN THEY MAKE A MISTAKE. PK is not above the team, but you guys think he is. Furthermore the game was not winnable. Especially when your start player takes a 2:00 penalty AFTER THE WHISTLE with 20 mins left in the game. Unacceptable, and yes a point needs to be made here. Fact: you don't see any other elite defensman in the NHL take bad penalties like that. Or a fraction as many as PK. I guess bad penalties are just part of PKs mad skills? (actually it is probably the most rough part of his game right now and it is no surprise that MT would try to send him a message here. PK takes WAY too many penalties) Let the coaches coach guys, I think they know more about these players that they are around every single day than you guys, who have never spoken to the players once before in your entire lives. And to the guy who compared Subban to Gretzky.... Just stop talking, seriously.
  8. Leblanc isn't ready to be brought up and throw into the fire... especially when the Habs are searching for scoring. Leblanc isn't the answer to that question and it will only put undue pressure on him. Sven A (hah!) and Christian Thomas are both natural goal scorers. If the habs bring anyone up it should be one of those two, let Leblanc continue his great season and look at calling him up closer to the end of the year. Last thing he needs at this point in time is another failed stint in Montreal... the timing has to be right because his next chance could be his last (With the habs). Forget about size, Leblanc may be a bit bigger, but he lacks the impressive skill both Thomas and Andrighetto bring. It is moot however, the Habs don't need to bring anyone up at this point in time. The top 9 is crowded as it is.
  9. All I want for Christmas is for Habs fans to be thankful for what we have. Including David Desharnais, who happens to be inspiring. Habs fans are absolutely, unquestionably terrible fans. No way around it.
  10. Holland is not a high end talent. it is foolish to think that they can just take him and thrust him in to a top 9 role. Someone mentioned Monahan and Bartschi.... it took Bartschi 3 years to find the success he is having at the pro level right now and not one person in the NHL excepted Monahan to play like he is.. You think taking Holland and throwing him on the 3rd or second line is going to accelerate that process? I think more likely it is going to overwhelm him and destroy his confidence early. Ease him into it. There is absolutely no rush for him to be in the top 9 at the moment when what we need is a solid checker who kills penalties. I know we have Moen.... but he has been playing a solid game this year and I think he deserves the ice time.
  11. In regards to DD... it is crazy how fast someone can go from positive to negative in the eyes of the fans so fast.... not even a full season! I understand a bit of the frustration, but not all of it is warranted in my personal opinion. Before I start clamoring for reform I want to see him play again.... if he does not perform there are better options now. As mentioned before though I think he deserves a chance to justify the contract that just kicked in. and I personally have a feeling he is going to this season.
