dlbalr
Bernier anyone? Former 1st rounder and he's home-grown..............and if he doesn't work out we can blame him He cleared, as expected. So too did Smith in Tampa. On waivers today: Re-Entry: Craig Rivet (BUF) Mike Commodore (CBJ) Regular Waivers: Marco Sturm (LA) Wade Belak (NSH) Nick Boynton (CHI) - watch for the Hawks to deal for a d-man in the next day or two Kris Newbury (NYR) Todd Ford (WSH) - I never knew he was up in the first place On the trade front, Alex Sulzer, a D we were rumoured to have interest in, dealt to Florida for a conditional 7th round pick (this has changed about 3 times now...). Chuck Kobasew is on the block in Minny, the Wild have give his agent permission to seek out a trade.
dlbalr
Rivet to Columbus, Boynton to Philly (replacing Bartulis who is done for the year), and Sturm to Washington. Waived today: Ty Conklin (STL) Curtis McElhinney (TB) Pascal Leclaire (OTT) Tim Stapleton (ATL) Brett Carson (CAR) Jason Jaffray (ANA) D.J. King (WSH) Nathan Lawson (NYI) Rob Schremp (NYI)
dlbalr
McCabe to the Rangers for Tim Kennedy and a 3rd rounder. Life for the Hamilton Bulldogs just got worse if nothing else. McCabe's a solid veteran for a young team on the blueline.
dlbalr
I should point out that today's waivers are 48-hour ones, meaning we won't know who claims who (if any) prior to noon EST Monday. I can't find anything in the CBA about it but I can't remember seeing players waived after the deadline. As such, those hoping for certain Habs to be waived may find themselves disappointed right about now.
Habsfan84
Just a minor deal today The Anaheim Ducks have acquired enforcer Brian McGrattan and Sean Zimmerman from the Boston Bruins. In exchange, the Bruins will receive minor-leaguers Stefan Chaput and David Laliberte. It's not know whether McGrattan will get called up to the Ducks, but we'll consider him a minor leaguer until we hear otherwise http://www.rotoworld...e=129155&spln=1Also breaking news is that Phillips has signed a 3 year deal with the Sens. Just seen on twitter so far Looks like the Senators re-sign Chris Phillips, three years, 9.3M Edited February 28, 2011 by Habsfan84
sakiqc
Brad Boyes to the Sabres. One of our closest rivals just got stronger.. If A.K. plays all games like the last 2, we would not have to trade. Or maybe he just raised his value and we'll get someone who'll show up every game in the playoffs (not just one 3 goals game)

Good pick-up by the Sabres, and they didnt have to give up too much. Thats what we got Moore for last year, and Boyes is a much better player. JoeLassister
Friend of mine posted this on my Facebook wall : Have you ever made an impulse decision to adopt a stray dog that's been raised in an abusive environment because you hope things will be different if it's given a loving home, but then when you get it back to your place it just poops all the over your floor and rolls around in it? Trading for an Ottawa goaltender is pretty much the same thing. http://sports.nationalpost.com/2011/03/01/the-trade-deadlines-winners-and-losers/ Edited March 1, 2011 by JoeLassister
sakiqc
Anyone saw Morrow's OT goal from last night? That was a very nice tricky play between Ribeiro and Morrow to fool both defensemen. Always nice to see new moves and creativity in making plays.
dlbalr
5 year extension for Bettman, the timing of this being made public is just terrific, and I mean that in the most sarcastic way. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/bettman-holds-new-contract-and-all-the-cards/article1938061/

JoeLassister
As per Cyberpresse.ca, Teacher's put their 66% of MLSE on sale. The Leafs, Raptors, Toronto FC, Marlies, Air Canada Centre, Leafs TV, Raptors TV, Ricoh Coliseum, BMO Field, etc. All of this would be included in the transaction. Teacher's are looking to get 1,3 Billion $ for the package. HUUUUUGE deal !!!!

l.moustakas
Dan Ellis, who entered tonight's game with a .894 save percentage, is playing a real stinker for Anaheim. 4 goals on 21 shots shots and I suspect Ray Emery will start the third period. In hindsight, I guess I am pretty glad he is not Montreal's backup.
l.moustakas
Yep, this is the kind of image and publicity the league needs. Paints a pretty picture doesn't it?

l.moustakas
I recently called the "loser point" silly. dlbalr
There will be an in-person hearing for Matt Cooke's elbow to McDonagh yesterday. Predictions for the length? I don't think he'll get the 10 like some are calling for, I'm guessing 6. Also, Craig Anderson signs a 4 year extension with the Sens, boy does that trade look great for them now...
