The IceCaps (6-3-2) start week two of their road trip with a pair of tough matchups against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (7-1-0), affiliate of, you guessed it, Pittsburgh. Greg Pateryn will be available after being sent down by Montreal yesterday.

Oh well, 5-2 loss.

That Matt Murray seems like a good goalie (and they said he was goalie of year last year also).

Not sure is Fucale a sieve today or might not had a chance on goals?

McCarron with 1g 1a, tied for 3rd in rookie scoring.

Sweet! As a few of us said, he could be a viable call up a little later in the season if injuries start knockin

Murray is a case into why you can't make definitive proclamations about goalies based on junior numbers. His draft year, he posted a 4.08 GAA and .876 SV% in the OHL, both ugly numbers. It was really only two years later - his final OHL season - that he put up legitimate #1 numbers.

Last season in his first pro year, he burst on the scene with 8 shutouts in 40 games with a 1.58 GAA and .941 SV% and stole the starting job from Jeff Zatkoff (now the backup in Pittsburgh). Suffice it to say, that was one of the bigger surprises in the AHL last year.

A quick IceCaps note, it appears Connor Crisp is hurt. No word on where the injury is or how long he'll miss.

Just watched last game's highlights; Fucale got picked apart (over blocker several times, over glove, 5 hole) and McCarron's goal was a sweet redirection, good hands for the big kid!

I guess I'll be waiting to see how Fucale responds as it's Pasquale in net for St. John's. One other lineup change I can see, Bennett's in for Hanley.

They didn't post the lineups but the lines have changed:

Hudon - de la Rose - Andrighetto

Carr - McCarron - Holloway

McNally - Dumont - Thomas

Fournier - Eisenschmid - Gregoire
