Commandant
Just now, DON said: Actually he didn't vs Flames, did he? I didn't watch the Leafs/Flames game, so not sure. In other Leafs games, he's almost always started him. He also goes to Reilly a lot on D, again, great skater. The Kings and Sens started Kopitar and Duchene last night.... Its 3 on 3, put out the best skaters, all that open ice is exploitable. 1 minute ago, DON said: Ya it was Marleau (experienced centre) and Marner to start OT Don, this would qualify as "almost always." Regardless, we wish Claude was starting a player like Marleau in OT.

In Marleau and Marner, he also doesn't have a "centre" on the ice... as Marleau has played some centre, but much more left wing. That's why I'm saying go with a guy like Byron in OT. He's normally a winger, but has some centre experience, but he can skate better than almost anyone in the league. Plekanec just isn't as good a skater, or as fast as he used to be. I'm big on having speed on the ice in OT... with open space. With Drouin hurt, I'd go Byron - Galchenyuk Danault - Pacioretty Plekanec - Gallagher and then back to Byron - Chuck Once Drouin is healthy Byron - Drouin Danault - Pacioretty Chuck - Gally
Machine of Loving Grace
Babcock was linematching. He tried having Matthews vs. Monahan the whole game. Kadri mostly faced Backlund, while Bozak split between Jankowski and Backlund. Marleau started OT against Backlund, who he beat the three times he went up against him on the dot. Toronto has a ridiculous amount of players who can take faceoffs (Matthews, Marner, Marleau, Brown, Kadri, Bozak, Nylander) but Babcock still tried to make sure Matthews always faced Monahan. Because Calgary started with Backlund, he went with Marleau and Marner.
