Exactly as predicted by many of this gang.

Does this mean that Hainsey is up for grabs?

if we got squat in return of hossa, I guess gayney felt he coudn't recieve anything in return of haisney

as for vandermeer, we know why he couldn't brake into NHL before...next

habs haven't got a legit enforcer since odjick

Well with that said here are the linups!

Zednick - Koivu - Kovalev

Dags/Perez - Ribs - Ryder

Bulis - Bonk - Sunny

Ivannas/Perez - Begin - Higgins

Markov, Souray, Komi, Bouillon, Rivet, Dandenault and Streit as 7th!

Sounds good to me

Go Habs Go!!!!! :D :D :D

Good cuts. Hainsey, IMHO, is a bust or very medeocre defenseman at best. Streit has showed continued improvement all through camp. Had a very good game last night. Think he can contribute to this team.

Got fit Plekanec in there for some serious time on the 3rd / 4th line.

Zednik-Koivu-Kovalev

Dagenais-Ribeiro-Ryder

Plekanec-Bonk-Bulis

Sundstrom-Begin-Higgins/Ivanans/Perezhogin

Souray-Komisarek

Markov-Rivet

Dandenault-Bouillon/Streit

Jose Theodore

Yann Danis/Cristobal Huet

IMHO this will be what it looks like for opening night, im sure that Plekanec definitely made the team.

That would be pretty insane if he claimed Hossa back. Hossa fans would forgive him for throwing him in the trash.

Plekanec will center the 4th line, he played center all camp. Perezhogin might get a chance on the 1st line if he plays well enough as Zednik is too much of a puck hugger to play with Kovalev IMO.

I think Zednik's spot on the first line is set and Perezhogin has no shot at the first line. He might not even make the team.

I can see Higgins playing third line duty.

DAMN IT!  Why did they keep Ivanans over Vandermeer?  He once scored 19 goals in an AHL season, so he has at least a little bit of hockey skill.  Ivanans has little, if any, hockey sense.

That's because Vandermeer was initially a scorer. The teams he was playing on already had scorers so he became an enforcer. That 19 goal seaosn was probably a few years ago when he was still trying to score.

both players are on temp. waivers .... Van and Hainsey

My question is... what was the chances of keeping hainsey and sending streit down and then during the season trade hainsey for a 3 pick or whatever.... was there any obstacles for doing that... and when would be the earliest the habs can make a trade like this?

I feel that Ivanans brings a hell of alot more "fear factor" to a game. Vandy can chuck knuckles,no doubt...but Ivanans throws big bombs and you will see that by the 10th game he will be a force to be reckoned with. The Habs need that size and from what I heard(on this site) was that he won fastest skater last year when he was with Hamilton!

So, if Hainsey gets picked up by someone else, that'll make the 2000 draft a no-win one. Lots of possibilities that just didn't develop.

There were worst years than that for Montreal. 1995 & 1997 were years when no one went anywhere at all. I'm sure that the scouting staff saw possibilities in those picked but, worst case scenario.... nada.

-=Van Hainsey=- continued

Wouldn't it be wiser ... although I'm sure theres a rule they cant cause Gainey would have thought so.... (something like the Hossa trade)

p.s. Perez and Pleck are in no matter what!
