Pierre the Great
ugh, I'm sorry but can't people but two and two together. I'm watching this on tv and I can't even see the building its too cloudy. Then its by the water in an area that uses helicopters a lot. Unfortunate accident, come on cable news this is not news. Move on.

The NJ Devil
Lidle's family is in the air and doesnt even know about his death yet =[
Pierre the Great
Mets-Cardinals game has been cancelled due to weather but I have a feeling it would have been cancelled regardless since Mr. Lidle started his career as a Met.
Fanpuck33
Wasn't a helicopter, was a small airplane. Speculation is that he lost control trying to avoid a helicopter in his flight path.
Pierre the Great
Corey Lidle was the student pilot and he was with a flight instructor. Apparently he only had 75 hours worth of flight time.

I'm hearing that he was fully trained and the only person on the plane.
Pierre the Great
I know we're getting conflicting reports. Bloomberg said the pilot was a student pilot. Then espn just said he got his licence only a couple of months ago.
The-Habby2919
I heard on Primetime Sports that Lidle had his license to fly for 7 months. :hlogo:
Pierre the Great
Yup and his licence was still pending by the FAA, normal procedure though.

Pierre the Great
Yup, sad day in world of baseball. I think it would be a smart move by MLB to just cancel today's game at Shea and not try to play through the rain. I hate when these things happen because one of my goals in life is to learn how to fly a plane. I've always had dreams of being a bush pilot in Canada. lol. Flying to the artic circle. Flying over land that has not been touched by man. You the air and nature, nothing beats that.
Fanpuck33
Lidle was, indeed, a liscensed pilot. However, as per Yankee team policy, all players who fly must have a flight instructor present whenever they fly. So the 2 confirmed deaths are more than likely Lidle and an instructor. Athlétique.Canadien
Ah man this sucks. I'm not a big baseball fan but I feel for Yankee and baseball fans. Plus to the city and the people of New York.
The NJ Devil
He wasnt even a yankee for that long and he seemed like a really cool guy
Pierre the Great
Yeah Keith Olbermann said he was to be a free agent. And people were wondering why somebody would be doing tricky flying for such a novice. Well I figure he wanted to see yankee stadium for one last time before he left for another team.
