  1. Mcdonagh, Petrecki and Maclean. I read alot of people like Mcdonagh. He is a solid 2 way D man with some pretty good offensive upside. All have good size. I think they will go one D man and 1 forwrd in the first round.
  2. Your nuts. 6 million for Souray. You can get 2 solid Dman for that. The hold up is simply money. I know alot of people beleive what Souray says. He will take the money and run. He is no way worth 6 million.
  3. I don't know what you guys are thinking he is going to do.HE has stated numerous times he isn't trading youth for a player. He won't sign a big name player, he knows they aren't one player away. He is making moves to free up money and make a trade or 2. I don't think it will be anything big. Ryder, Halak and Huet are good trade bait and added in the some of the D garbage can fetch an upgrade to the D. Everyone needs a little patience. It will be 1 possibly 2 years before they are contenders, they have some bad contracts with a few years left.
  4. Pitkonin will cost you 2 mill. Souray will cost you atleast 6. Pitkonin was on the worst team in the NHL, Souray was on the bottom 5 D, Pitkonin can get better, Souray has peeked out, he won't get better.
  5. I think they will be significantly better then last year. Maybe fighting for an 8 seed. Biron is a solid goalie. Great youth and speed. Smon. I actually think Gainey can pull a trade to upgrade the D, EH does have Ryder, Halak and Huet to dangle out there. Not can fetch atleast an upgrade to the D core.
  6. The Habs should look to get Pitkonin, he has decent size speed, plus he can move the puck.
  7. Hartnell and Timonin traded to the flyers for picks. Ek listed it as E5 which means it happened. I don't see it confirmed anywhere else though. The Flyers will sign both before July 1. If True i'm Pitkonin is on the block.
  8. Yea, i'm assuming by Xmas the D will be signifcantly better. By better i mean the garbage out. If this team has the same D as last year you may need all 3 goalies to play as much rubber as those guys see.
  9. Yea, what did the habs score like 12 goals in 7 games or something. Theo was on fire. On NESN they actually showed a game the in that series over the weekend, i think it was the Kovalev "dive". My prediction by Xmas, the Price will be right for the Habs.
  10. Yea that is what i was thinking, with the excess of forwards (small), these type of players can be throw in or sweeteners to deal for a bigger fish. Hopefully on the D side.
  11. The Markov with Detroit is NOT his brother. I would take Hannon, Timonin though.
  12. Are you double shifting markov? I agree with your thoughts and your lines cfposi. I would add a real goon to the 4th line RW in about 40 games.
  13. Are you guys talking about Emelin or Valentenko. I know Emelin is a great prospect in the mold of Kaspiritis but i haven't heard much of Valentenko. Someone mentioned he was a good 2 way player but is he really that good of a prospect? Thanks for the info.
  14. sorry, i wasn't specifically talking about you, more in general. I have no problem with others suggested players. I just point out what Gainey has stated numerous times. You can also tell by his moves and lack of moves that he is building for the future. Samsonov was a desperate move to maintain a playoff spot until the turnover happens. Grabovski is a smurf. You can't argue that one. I also agree they need to get bigger. Lindros is one hit away from his career being over.
  15. Well agree with some of your points Johnnyhasbeen, He isn't a Nolan kind of player. Like i said in another post, Carbo is a similar kind of coach, so i don't think Carbo likes those kind of players. A point a game is fine but if you don't hustle, play physical and play on the D end you're not going to cut it under coaches that have work ethic high on the list.
  16. I don't understand why everyone's "fix" is old washed up players that don't really improve the team. BG has said numerous times he is deveping from within and youth and that's what he is doing. He still has a few contracts that he needs to rid the team of but i really don't see any big signings or trades coming. Smaller trades or moving garbage is what you'll see. Patience grasshopper.
  17. Yes, that is a bold prediction. It's not going happen but i like the confidence. Until the defense, toughness, character and most importantly work ethic changes this team is going know where. I'll predict that "core" members will not show up again and BG will finally blow it up. By the end of the year the team will be significantly younger and better. No playoffs next year. The year after i think it will be a solid playoff team for years.
  18. Simple, the talented players have to be the talented players. They aren't. Kosty will play with Pleks and Higgins. I'll remind you once they were put together they were the Habs best line. Primeua can play with Chipchura and Johnson or young 3rd line RW 4th line is Begin lapierre Boogard. Grabovski is a center, so one will have to move if he is to get time next year. Again, he is another smurf who gets hit alot. Like it or not, the bigger tougher teams dominate the other teams in the league. Please know one say Buffalo is small, they aren't.
  19. Begin is 185lbs. Primeua is like 215. You can't win with a bunch of smurfs. As seen in the last 10 years. So the point again is the Habs need size and grit. They should also go out and get a real goon.
  20. The only Russian you want as an example is Markov. Your point about losing is correct, which is why yuo want to rid the team of losers. Adding another loser to a team who has been losing fror 10 years isn't really helping. Perhaps letting some veteran losers on the team ride the hamilton bus for a few months will help. You don't add garbage to garbage, all you get is more garbage.
  21. Well they weren't at the top of the Pk in the end and when it counted. So like i said they were middle of the pack. Milroy and Ferland may be fine players but i don't think neither one of them is very big and physical like Primeua, which is my point. The habs need to get bigger and more physical. Chipchura and lapierre will most likely be the 3rd and 4th line centers next year. Primeua plays wing and center.
  22. The problem with all that is Carbo isn't wrong. Problem #2 is Carbo would have a stroke if he had to coach those 3 players. If yashin doesn't work hard enough for Nolan, what makes you think he'll work hard enough for carbo.
  23. Well by moving Pleks down, you take away spots for Lapierre and Chipchura. Who are best suited for the #3 and 4 center positions. They don't need Yashin.
  24. What is the Obsession in thinking Pleks has to be a #3 center. he isn't big or tough enough to be a shut down center. Lets be honest, he was arguably the habs best all around player last year. He played awfull with Kovalev, but who doesn't. Once he moved away from him he was the best center they had. He also centered the best line down the stretch, he and his linemates Kosty and Higgins were the only ones who showed up in crunch time. So please stop he is only a third line center. If all the other high priced garbage played like him they wouldn't be struggling for an 8 spot.
  25. How is signing Wayne a step backwards? Do the Habs have size and grit? Nope. Are they tough enough to compete? Nope. There penalty killing was average at best, they were in the bottom of the league in faceoffs. He actually drops the gloves every now and again, who does that on the Habs? No one. These are the things the Habs need. So who in the minor leagues is like Wayne? No one. He also brings good work ethic which is a huge problem with the habs. Now i do agree about having more youth, Kosty , Lapierre and Chipchura will be there for sure. i don't know who else. Maybe Obyrne if they can get rid of some of there awfull Dmen.
