  2. Handedness matters.cause there are a few faceoffs every game that do matter. Those on the PP/pk. While i dont like faceoff percentage cause a lot of irrelevant faceoffs are included. We do need both handed guys. One issue is the rule is that the team going on the pp gets to choose which side of the ice to have the faceoff. With no lefties worth a.damn on faceoffs (newhook sucks) we are going to see every team force us to either have newhook take the draw on PK, or have evans/suzuki take that draw on their weak side.
  3. Im not trying to say either of you have done something wrong. Not attempting to take either side just dont think this is the right place for the argument🤷‍♂️
  4. Youve been here 3 months. Let @tomh009 or @dlbalr DM me if ive done something wrong. But i dont need your approval to post.
  5. Attack the post... not the poster. Show me where Ive made a personal attack. Its always at the contents of the post. We are here to discuss and debate. If the contents of a post cant be debated then there is no reason for a message board to exist. Ive always gone after the contents of posts. You want to go after me peraonally for that.... well then, ill let the mods deal with that.
  6. Guys… this has all dragged on too long (the little bout between @Commandantand @WildTurkeyXX) I respect the fact you both have strong opinions and are willing to defend them. But this whole thing is childish, this is a forum to talk hockey not berade each other for character in which neither of you truly learned any of the others. Please drop it so this forum can stay pure hockey. 👍 &nbsp
  7. Good post. I have watched some clips of this guy and he certainly has potential. Has a big frame and some good hands. Obviously the Habs are really high on him as they traded up to get him (like Zharovsky). The Habs COULD end up with some gems in this draft even though they traded their 2 first round picks.
  8. Look, I know I'm not going to convince you. Since joining this group I've seen you play this "moral grandstanding" card more than anyone. I've seen you center in on a guy for saying "Canadian bottom six vs European bottom six", I've seen you center in on the another's (perceived) emphasis on the use of the word "she", leveling implications, if not out right accusations of misogyny. You do this as if to say "sit down and shut up". You do what you want. I think it's low class and a cheap, uncalled for debate tactic. To each their own. You can go ahead and save the world, I'm just here to talk Hockey. I'm just not going to sit back and let my character get smeared in the process. To imply that I don't take mental health (or any type of condition) seriously just because I think it's unreasonable to expect a professional hockey to have to accommodate for it is not an accusation that I can (in good conscience) let slide.
  9. I hear faceoffs not important, so does handedness matter much? Scout’s opinion: The Montreal Canadiens’ 2025 NHL Draft haul Hayden Paupanekis One of the steals of the draft Once again trading up for the 69th overall pick, the Canadiens opted for a 6’4″ right-shot centre in Hayden Paupanekis, and I was elated. The consensus among the staff at Elite Prospects is that Paupanekis is a better prospect than Jack Nesbitt, whom the Flyers selected 12th overall. One scout I spoke to outright said that Paupanekis could end up being a first-rounder in a redraft one day. There is still a glaring need in the organization for a left-shot centre. With Christian Dvorak gone, the Canadiens now only have Jared Davidson, Florian Xhekaj, and Filip Eriksson as natural left-handed pivots in the entire organizational system.
  10. 2020 5th rounder. Habs re-sign Jakub Dobes to two-year deal – HabsWorld.net "As things stand, Dobes should be viewed as the favourite for the backup position behind Montembeault for next season with recently signed veteran Kaapo Kahkonen also in the mix. Notably, Dobes has one more year of waiver exemption and if he’s sent down at any point (be it losing the backup battle or some short-term demotions to get spot starts in Laval), his cap hit will come off the books entirely."
  11. Who is really arguing though. Is it the person who said... average age is an objective fact. Or someone who said... well actually its misleading cause of ...... Im not arguing at all. Im just stating that the math is the math and this is a very young team.
  12. It was the content of your post that was questioned though.
  13. I don't feel bad about what I said. But that doesn't mean I'm okay with my character being called into question, rather than the context of my posts. I've been pretty gosh darn polite in all of my posts and responses, and genuine in all of my rebuttals. I expect the same in return, and I don't think that's too much to ask. You, him and everyone else are free to do so, but that doesn't mean that myself or anyone else doesn't have cause to call it our for being unnecessary or unsportsmanlike.
  14. Haha everything doesn't have to be an argument. It wasn't my intention to imply that we aren't a young team, just that our average age is slightly skewed in part due to our lack of 35+ players, and that rarely (if at all) gets mentioned. My point being that I don't think we aren't quite as inexperienced as that average suggests.
  15. That was interesting, especially Peter Longo’s dissenting opinion. (Personally, I trust HuGo’s judgement; they decided that Reinbacher will become better than Mailloux and duly moved the latter).
  16. This has always been my philosophy, and that’s why I’m generally leery of “leaving room” on your roster for unproven kids - they should displace vets on the bottom-end of your roster - as well as throwing kids like Kotkaniemi onto the team fresh out of the draft. (KK is a good example of a kid who seems to have been f**ked up by unearned entitlement much too early in his career). I find our management team has generally been more comfortable than me thrusting kids into the fire. The main consequence has been the tendency of those kids to suffer significant injuries, which I suspect has to do with their not fully understanding how to protect themselves at this level. That said, HuGo have not, so far, misjudged which players are actually ready and able to play effectively in the NHL. They tried Mailloux and sent him down; they’ve given Xhekaj chances but not been afraid to send him down either; they identified Hutson as ready and were rewarded. The dilemma of Laine is the eternal dilemma of the one-dimensional player who does that one thing really well. What he does is shoot the puck one the PP with insane skill. BUT he has the talent to do much more. If, for example, he were to come to camp 100% in shape, motivated, and confident, he could become a devastating all-around offensive player like he was early in his career. At that point I wouldn’t sneeze on him for failing to back check.
  17. Yes this is how averages work. If the habs had older players the average would go up. Its still an objective fact that this is a young team and such players dont exist on the habs. And since thw roster is 23 guys, someone is taking those spots and its a younger player. So instead of two 38 year olds in your example, we have two guys under 25, that we just acquired. Thats why its a young team We can play what ifs all day, but the objective reality is this is a young team.
  18. Again if you dont feel bad about it, then dont worry about it. If you do feel bad then be more careful of what you write in future. Its not that deep. It ultimately was your post though so trying to turn the tables to make someone else the bad guy and say "there is no need for that" is kinda B.S.

  20. It's misleading for exactly the reason I laid out in my post. I think I did a pretty good job of explaining. If you were to insert just a couple of 36 - 38 year old's into the mix it would have a pretty significant effect on the average age. That's it, that's all. Nowhere did I say that we didn't have a lot of youth, just that we also had a lack of age which also plays a big role in bringing that average age down.
  21. I disagree. To sift through all of the things that I said and center out my use of the word silly, and then use it to try and rub my nose in it... The implication is that my use of the word "silly" was somehow an indictment on my character. It was absolutely an attempt to make me feel shame for what I said, it is literally the only purpose of the post. As for my use of the word "silly", I'm in no way ashamed of it, and nor should I be. I used "silly" in an attempt to be gentle with my criticism. What I should have said was "unacceptable", as in "the number of personal days Laine took last year was unacceptable". Would that have been less offensive? Regardless of whether it would or wouldn't, any time that my character (rather than my point) is called into question, I am going to call it out. As far as I'm concerned, there is no need for that.
  22. Why is it misleading? Its an objective fact that this is a young team already. I didnt realize that most players being under 26 was some how misleading.
  23. I've heard this (read this) a lot. That we were/are one of the youngest teams, youngest team to ever make the playoffs. Which is generally true, so I don't want to drag this out. I'd just like to say that as much as I hear this, I never really hear enough context applied to it. Yes, our average age was low (and you're right, it looks like it is set to get even younger). But the teams low average age has just about as much to do with it's lack of older players as it does its abundance of young players. I believe Savard was our oldest player at 34. The majority of our team was between 24 and 34, with a few players under 24 sprinkled in there. Again, I'm in no way disputing the fact that we are a very young team, on average. Just that the stat is slightly misleading, all on it's own.
  24. I dont think its virtue shaming at all. You said what you said and it was responded to. If you are ashamed of what you wrote, thats a you problem, not the responder. You wrote it. So either you stand by it and arent ashamed you wrote it and what the response is, doesnt matter to you.... or you are ashamed of it and its on you to begin with. Either way. You wrote it.
  25. Unless Laine has transformed this summer - better mental health, better physical health, determined effort - I don’t think he is good enough 5 on 5. Bolduc is significantly better 5 on 5 Let Laine score 40 PP goals with easier 5 on 5 minutes on the third line Demidov - Dach - Bolduc Laine - TBA (Struble trade) - Newhook Anderson - Evans - Gallagher
