  1. No question. I've always said - Eller is Benoit Brunet, another bottom-6 player who would go on mini-tears every once in a while where you'd swear he had top-6 skills. But those tears were the exception rather than the rule. This is not to deny that he is a serviceable bottom-6 forward. It's these fans with their mystical belief that he is just about to break out that strike me as deluded.

  2. Wow!Max got the GWG (first goal of a shutout) to sweep Tampa. He scored on a guy who isn't even in the NHL two years later. That was his first goal of the series, I believe. Tell ya what...next year, when Tampa comes to town, let's tear down the statue of Rocket Richard and put up one of Max scoring a tap in on Gudlevskis or whomever that was. Thanks for reminding me of that one. No, actually, my grandkids thank you. After they hear that, they'll beg to hear about the Era Defining Round 2 Victory. "Yeah, Sonny, after they slayed two backup goalies, they beat the President's Trophy winners! Then Chris Kreider knocked out Price, but they made it to six games! You know what? If only your great grandfather was here! But, I believe, I will never forget where I was when Max beat Gudlevskis. The air smelled better, and for once life was right again. And I just savored the moment, because in a sad way, I knew I might never feel that way again."

  4. I didn't call anyone an idiot.... i said the comment was idiotic. There is a difference. A difference any parent would know, when they tell their kids that they are behaving badly... but they aren't "bad kids". And yes, he may not be likely to put up 60 points again, but he certainly can put up 40 still, which is pretty good for any NHL player, and certainly not the doesn't belong in the league trash that he was made out to be in the comment from Chris. As for being a -30, the fact of the matter is that Desharnais corsi is still pretty good when he plays third line competition. He's fine defensively as long as you don't expect him to play against the other team's top line. Am I harsh, sure... when I read something completely foolish, I call out the comments as being that way.

  5. The desharnais "is not an NHL caliber player on any line" is pure idiocy. guys who aren't NHL caliber players don't have multiple 40 and 50 point seasons in the NHL, and even one season with 60 points. If you want to say he's currently a third liner and overpaid for that role and thats why we should get rid of him, fine.... but don't spout ######ing non-sense that the guy is an AHL or ECHL scrub and that we should be playing guys like Matteau and Danault ahead of him. Honestly.. maybe the bad season has made people lose their minds, but the bias against some players has reached unprecedented levels and is making people say really stupid things. Desharnais may be hard to trade because of his contract, but if the guy was making 1 million instead of 3.5, there would be no question that he's a valuable NHL player, and he'd easily be tradeable, never mind waivers. Its all about an overpayment of a 3rd line player, not that the guy is an ECHLer posing as an NHLer. Lets be real.

  6. The French coach problem was all Cunnyworth. If there was a defacto best available coach with Stanley Cup experience he'd be accepted by the media. Basically the message was if you're going to make an unqualified man the coach, at least make him french. Molson mandated a french coach but if Therrien was fired and Babcock wanted to come here, he would have come here. Jim Nill was approached to be our GM and he turned us down. That's the real argument they make in Quebec. If you're not going to find the best for the job, find someone from Quebec. I haven't heard a situation like Crosby in years. The media has been very nice to Pacioretty and Subban for when they try to speak French. All they want is to feel like their biggest entertainment entity isn't ignoring them for the English audience. When they get ignored, they lash out. Cunnyworth was Gauthier trying to put the heat on the coach and off himself. The reaction was expected but it didn't save his job.

  7. 100% agree. If there is a rift it's probably made worse by the losing season and this being the year that a captain was chosen. I think Subban didn't help matters with an incredibly stupid "it's not my job to scorw comment" which maxpac may have taken personally. I love subban but that was a dumb thing to say - especially for the guy making over $9m a year. I think adding more talent and winning is the solution - rather than trading the little offensive talent we do have.
