  1. Not always easy being a Russian athlete as you don't want a family member accidentally falling from a 4th floor balcony for saying the wrong thing. Gretzky could have said something as free speech is allowed here. His silence was disappointing.
  2. One player I find intriguing is Cameron Schmidt. High end offensive player but small so will likely drop. Could be another Cole Caulfield? Or do we need another one? Perhaps Commandant has some thoughts on him. Thanks Also if we packaged our 2 picks together (likely both in the 14-18 range), how high could we move up? It's all about quality now.
  3. Watched the end of the Ranger game, too bad. The Habs just have to take care of business, can't take the Bruins lightly. It would be a shame to win back to back games against the defensing cup champions and then come up flat against the Bruins.
  4. Always hard to say how much more development there is in a player but he has had a good year, no doubt about that.
  5. It definitely shows development, scoring 20 goals in the AHL against men is far more impressive than scoring 34 in junior where you were one of the oldest guys.
  6. Good news, a great replacement for Pezzetta. Most certainly an upgrade.
  7. The Flames are 8 points clear of the bottom 10 and 6 points out of a playoff spot with 8 games to go. Almost perfect. Now if they could go something like 2-6 in their last 8 games they could slide a bit but I expect they will continue fighting like they have all year. I expect that pick will be 15 or 16 unless they win the lottery (about a 1.1% chance). Habs pick if they get the last playoff spot and lose in the 1st 2 rounds will be 17. Could be back to back picks.
  8. Looks like Suzuki is off to a decent start in April. LOL
  9. Two massive wins against a team that is really tough to play against. Not a tough schedule left but NO time to relax. https://www.tankathon.com/nhl/remaining_schedule_strength
  10. I think the only debate would be who is runner up. I think it has to be Hutson.
  11. I'll be the 1st to say that this doesn't guarantee anything but the Habs have an easier schedule left than the teams they are battling with for the last playoff spot. Non playoff teams can be loose and difficult to play against. NHL Remaining Schedule Strength | Tankathon
  12. Hutson is rookie of the year, how can you pick anyone over him?? Nick is so good. The future is bright.
  13. Agreed, we need quality not quantity right now. Hughes has 2 x 1st round picks (likely both in the 14-18 range) and 2 second round picks (the Pittsburgh one will likely be pretty early). I expect Hughes to do some bundling to either move up in the draft or get a young prospect who is not far away.
  14. Hughes gave this team a chance by not being a seller at the deadline. I believe that 2-3 weeks before the deadline he was expecting to be a seller however the team went on a run and changed that. He put the ball in their court but they are not running with it right now. It was not wishful, magical thinking. I am glad they didn't overpay at the deadline to get someone to maybe help them squeak into the playoffs. Hughes is sticking to the plan. He might have something up his sleeve in the summer to accelerate things.
  15. It's amazing how 1 bad week changes a lot of people's perspective on the team. They are a young team on the rise but they still have some holes. I am glad Hughes didn't go crazy giving up picks to improve the team at the deadline. Young teams will have more ups and downs. If they can split the two Florida games coming up then they are in good shape as the 4 games after that are all winnable. I try and keep things in perspective, they have made progress this year which is all you can ask for. I think the future is bright. Demidov should help with secondary scoring.
