  1. Whether it happens or not, it is encouraging.
  2. Two years is a long-time ... PLD, or rather his agent, hasn't said he would only play for Montreal just that Montreal is a team he would like to play for ... if he were traded somewhere else that might also end up being a team he would like to play for. As for dumping salary on the Jets ... that doesn't happen when trading FOR an asset ... you have to give away players (ala Pacs to Carolina) or give up assets to move a contract just for the purpose of losing cap hit ... but it doesn't mean that HuGo can't "dump" contracts to other teams to make cap space ... but unless Dach is part of a PLD trade, they have to make room to sign Dach and Montembeault ... of course moving actual assets (FOR EXAMPLE, Anderson, Dvorak - ***not*** a trade proposal) in a PLD trade could also make help cap space.
  3. Nice to see Emil Heineman mentioned as impressive ... looking forward to seeing how he does in camp and then (almost certainly) in Laval.
  4. Not certain how Slafkovsky is eerily similar to JP ... other than both being tall.
  5. Apologies ... forgot to mention ... his suggestion was that the team getting Anderson would pay to dump Gallagher on a third team ... his idea was that the Habs get cap space and maybe something minor at most.
  6. But if he becomes a 20 goal scorer it will take less to move him.
  7. A friend posed to me a difficult question: would you trade Anderson if that was the "cost" for the other team to take on Gallagher in a Pacs-ish trade? *** NOT *** suggesting that is possible/likley, but as a thought exercise it was interesting ... essentially, how much are you willing to give up to be rid of Gallagher's contract. I really have no faith in Gallagher returning to being even a 20 goal scorer, so getting rid of that contract is très tempting.
  8. If Murray was confusing ............................
  9. Retweeted by Friedman Alzner next?
  10. OR ... waiting on the other team to clear cap space to make room for the Hab.
  11. Nothing announced ... could be Lavoie trying to be relevant or could true but still be awaiting some domino.
  12. Have the Flames now become a destination for Anderson?
  13. Hughes mentioned that Price had an injection treatment and that part of the process is waiting for the shot to have its intended effect before going back to full-out training.
  14. Right on ... who did he offer contracts ... for how much and what term? ... what specific trades did he propose and/or turn down ... how much is he willing to give up to get rid of each problematic contract ... without that information how are we supposed to make informed comments about his performance? Just in case anyone is wondering
  15. Per CapFriendly ... moving Nyquist (assuming no retention) would leave them with just shy of $8.67M in space ... but that would put them right against the ceiling, with no flexibility.
  16. A factor is also the short-term (next season) needs versus long-term (rebuild) plans.
  17. True ... I was thinking multiyear that would equate to retention ... but if Dallas is willing, AK's $3,333,333 for one year might be digestible if the return is otherwise sufficient ... still requires some immediate moves but good in the long-term cap-wise.
  18. The Stars don't seem to have a contract they obviously would want to get rid of rather than Habs retaining salary.
  19. Does anyone have his CHL rights or contractually does he have to go back to the Liiga unless he is a pro? I agree that CHL and Liiga are unlikely ... but personally I would have no issue with a year of CHL to adapt to the smaller ice-surface and style of play ... I care more about the years after this coming season than this coming season.
  20. A quick scan of CapFriendly shows the only other player the Habs might want/be-willing to trade with a signing bonus is ... Carey Price ... and whatever my dreams he isn't moving. The Hurricanes make a lot of sense for Petry ... especially if Stars out of the running (i.e., focused on Burns). Very unlikely outside the box options: Colorado: tough to repeat ... adding Petry as the 2-RHD certainly upgrades their defence San Jose: Sharks "get younger" (trading Burns and then bringing in Petry) and save some cap space Columbus: bit thin and/or young on RHD Nashville: bit thin and/or young on RHD ... don't want to waste the re-signing of Forsberg Perhaps the most likely other option, because I simply see absolutely no reason for it, is Detroit ... they have two young RHD in their Top 4 (Seider and Hronek)
