  1. i disagree with this.... nathan beaulieau has failed to even be hamilton's best defensmen in all his games played there... anyone who watches the dogs can vouch for this.... if he can't even be our best d-man in the A how in the world can you expect him to crack the line up on arguably one of the top teams in hockey right now... he needs to slot in the top 4 and is nooooooo where near that!!
  2. watched the first period on centre ice and listened to jack edwards... as big a bruin homer that he is, he actually isn't that bad a commentating....
  3. why would he be fined??.... all though i can see major backlash albeit subtle by the refs for gallagher not leaving the ice talk exactly there... on the ice
  4. your right MB does have a plan and I'm starting to wonder how much of it actually has to do with leverage in contract talks with tinordi and nathan as well... you have to wonder with their entry level deals expiring, tucking them back into the A for the rest of the season will kill there chance at significant raises through strong play throughout this season. instead, with few games played their leverage has been negated .... he trades for these expiring contracts, tucks the kids back in the AHL... then post season resigns the 2 kids for 2 years each at a slight raise and then starts to ride them next season.... he is a cap guru no doubt!
  5. i thought we were gonna end up with forsberg but... I'm happy we got galchenyuk!!
  6. if his PP time has been cut into somewhat by running these 2 x 5 man units why not give him more time on the PK, it will only help round out his game and help cut down markovs TOI ..... worked wonders i think for patches game!!
  7. i hear what your saying which is why i wouldn't mind his one timer on the left half boards... but running to 5 man units like they have for the last 3 games isn't such a bad idea... he has been getting PK minutes lately i thought
  8. i loved that 89 team and arguably 1986 to 1995 the habs were consistently contending.... its much to early to compare this team to them but maybe just maybe in the future we can look back at this young team as start of something special... the return of les glourieux after a decade of heartache!!!
  9. i see..... really.... you don't say... interesting... no way..... again... no way... sounds good on paper... really... instant dividends?? ok so game 1 was a good show on each and every opportunity plus one goal on the rush game 2 we saw paranteau's rebound goal we saw markov to insert name for the one timer and we saw the back door play from the point not to shabby game 3 the goose egg again but its clear the power play is working again if not with goals at least momentum... instant dividends with this point finally being addressed properly...
  10. i don't normally fuel these types of fires but what the hey its been a while.... * with dallas sitting last in the west and an abysmal PK to boot, did you ever wonder that maybe moving forward they looked to shed salary this season while addressing the PK for next season as well.. gonchar has a hefty salary that most teams could not absorb. ** i asked if you had seen him play in the 3 only games he played this season for Dallas because i didn't (not 4 seasons ago) but... ***good defensmen make mistakes and sometimes break down, usually mistakes by defenders result in goals. i do recall him flat footed on the blue line while moen skated by and beat fleury with a routine wrister from the dot.. who could forget that master card commercial.... but **if you break that play down just a little more you'll see that with the score 3-0 already for montreal, kunitz had a horrible giveaway handing the puck directly to moen already skating hard and catching gonchar flat footed at his blue line... with gonchar retreating backwards the speed of moen was to much for gonchar. with a full 1 on 3 and no trailing forwards as separation between moen and his teammates was substantial, letang started to double up on moen, and with kunitz back checking heavy after the horrible give away you can see why gonchar passed him zonely considering the help he had from 2 teammates... fortunately for us gonchar didn't even get a hand on moen to slow him down and he was able to essentially put the game away. gonchar's fault?? of course he should of tried to interfere but while on the PP and down 3-0. he probably didn't want to risk a even up call and cancel out a chance to re -open the game on the PP.... soft play for sure. but for every soft play from gonchar you also get this... or this http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=536179 and most recently this..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=151O4bIRMGE ****if stinking in a 7 game series means scoring 2 goals adding 4 assists for 6 points in 7 games then man i wished subban had that kind of bad series against the rangers last year. 12 pts in 13 playoff games +4 to go with his 50pts in 62 games in 2010!!! you really think pitts wanted to dump him following a season like that?? **** he signed a mammoth 3 year contract as a UFA with OTT earning every penny at such an advanced age due to his huge contribution with the pens over all seasons. the pens actually wanted to resign him but they couldn't fit his salary...... *****must of been an interesting game that LEAFS/ OTT game live, wondering if you were there to watch your favourite team that can do no wrong un like are constantly stumbling habs?? with that said, i don't own a lap top, however, i consistently use sound facts and stats to back up my analyzation and opinions as to not look foolish when voicing my opinion to others.. there is a reason i rarely post but enjoy reading these threads in its entirety for good commentary and others insight to further my knowledge on the habs... as a heart and soul hockey guy... i seem to watch to much hockey, my wife is constantly busting them.. i also have actually watched a bunch of ott games with gonchar in the line up... maybe thats why i knew this acquisition was gonna help instantly! seems my pre-assessment is a little more bang on with gonchar then yours even if its only over his first 3 games!! its why i wanted jagr over the last like 4 seasons... these kind of guys are exceptions to there age... all-time greats at what they do... they can only help!
  11. bergevin= golden right now..... for all its worth MB has traded briere, diaz, dejardins, moen and a 5th pick for paranteau, weise, tokarski, gonchar, weaver and a 5th.... thats amazing!!!
  12. I'm back from sault saint marie... with so much to say...... whats up with password recoveries? i asked for like 5 since thursday
  13. given a negative reputation for this comment meanwhile..... fast forward less then 2 months later we traded for weaver before the deadline a right handed shot as well as tomas vanek ok so vanek wasn't kane but he still was substantial and winnipeg was to be used only as an example (plus i got collberg right) then in the offseason we actually send gorges on his way and pick up gilbert!!!!!!!!! i think this negative needs to go positive!!!
  14. how can you re quote something you said say last february that was given a negative reputation but ended up coming to fruition later in the season??
  15. same with moen post injuries to the noggen. with his time and service with us, it was only fair for him to see the ice again to find his way
  16. http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=738884&navid=DL|MTL|home interesting take on gonchar from the players themselves.... looks like a real gamer is about to join them not no kaberle that people are comparing him to...... here's a little sneak peak into what this move can do for a guy like beaulieau..... One player who also plans on absorbing as much knowledge from Gonchar as possible is Nathan Beaulieu, who, at 21 years of age, is still in the veritable infancy of his NHL career. “I think a guy like Gonchar is never going to hurt your club. I’m excited to see what he can bring, and he’s definitely a guy that I can learn from. He’s a great addition and everybody in the room is happy to have him here,” offered Beaulieu, who has been held off the scoresheet through 10 games in 2014-15, registering a minus-2 differential during that span. “I have the opportunity to be on the ice every day with elite guys. Players like Markov and Gonchar have been in the league for a long time. I can grab whatever I can from them, learn and try to get better. If I’m not in the lineup, I can use it as a development tool to get better for when I get back in there.” And, while Beaulieu might take a back seat to Gonchar when the four-time Olympian dons the CH for the first time, Pacioretty insists the young rearguard will undoubtedly benefit from the vast experience the newest Habs defenseman brings along with him north of the border. “You’ve always heard stories about how he took guys like Evgeni Malkin and Valeri Nichushkin under his wing. Coach told me that he’s such a great guy and he’s so good with his teammates. I think a guy like Beaulieu can learn a lot from him because he definitely wants to eventually play the game that Gonchar plays, and everybody wants to have that type of career,” concluded Pacioretty. “Not to get too far ahead of myself, but seeing the way Beau wants to play, and the way management wants him to play, I think he could be a good mentor for him. We’re excited to see what happens.” "we're excited to see what happens...." says pacioretty, and so am i
  17. have you watched gonchar play in dallas all of the last 3 games he has played this season? or any games in pitts or ottawa cause i know you didn't watch him last season in Dallas? your comments are that of a child who is not yet allowed to stay up and watch hockey games so therefore isn't aware of facts gonchar amassed 91 poiints in 186 games in OTT at age 36-38 and 259 in 322 games in pitts from age 31-35yrs.. if only....
  18. gonchar has a full no movement clause which he waived to come to our team!! -MB also got colorado to throw in a pick w/ paranteau -scored vanek for catso and etc.... turns out MB is a savvy GM so far and is actually able to come out on top of trades which is a pleasant surprise considering our recent history spanning as far back as say 1995... can you honestly say or anyone for that matter that the habs defensive depth is not better today then it was yesterday making the team better overall? i though so..... i for one think making a play for gonchar who is essentially a rental and paying nothing for him is genius... even if it is a failed experiment on the ice in the end is it really? we have moen off the books next season which is perfect as moen is obsolete on this version of the habs. now gonchar is after all 40.... but once you get past his age he is still one of the all time greats on the back end and a top 10 all time in virtually every offensive category in less games then most i might add... a left handed right defence men... the exact player we need for the PP ( sorry i want)... the fact that he is a fellow comrade of markov is just icing on the cake.. he is exactly the kind of player to play with markov. in fact, i think markov's motivation has just increased ten fold with this signing you said he sucked in pitts meanwhile he put up hall of fame numbers in his tenor there... you said he sucked in OTT but he was good there too playing a top 4 role i might add. i think this is his last hoorah no doubt.... but some legends do go out with a bang.... i can only dream
  19. and that was prior to MB shipping omen out for gonchar...
  20. i think he'll have to clear waivers to be sent down as soon as next year?? so if he's not gonna play might as well at this point.... either play him or send him down... leave him there and give him his minutes so he can be the player we expect of him... i just think were more balanced with him up instead of beaulieau... especially with gonchar now in the mix
  21. bold prediction PP goal 1 markov to insert gonchar or beaulieau for the clean one timer.... and paranteau taps in the rebound... PP goal 2 markov goes cross ice to plex for the one timer he misses the net puck comes back around and markov to insert gonchar or beaulieau for a clean one timer... im envisioning the instant proficiency as we speak
  22. I'm telling you all.... instant dividends... is there a better right point man in the NHL over the last 20 years then gonchar?? nope the General and his comrade..... im loving it... id still keep subban on the half boards with the 1st wave with all his skill.........
