  1. Is Mike Milbury wearing a Garth Snow costume?
  2. *Sticks thumbs in ears and hums to self loudly* Your posts show up as blank to me now. Now sense trying to say anything to me.
  3. I'm done with you. No country deserves to have planes flown into civilian buildings. Not even countries that harbor and support terrorists. I've put you on my ignore list. I'm sick of reading your posts so I'm not going to do it anymore.
  4. Yes, he regretted going in on bad information. He didn't resign because he knowingly lied. Colin Powell was probably the most well respected member of the Bush administration, and he felt that he had failed in his job, so he stepped down. When did I say Hezbollah was a country? They were in Lebanon, so that's where the Israelis attacked. And I think it is silly to say the Israelis were purposely killing civilians. What they did was prove their military is lousy. Their enemies were hiding out among civilians, so some collateral damage was a given. It was a tragedy that the damage to civilians was higher than it should have been. I could be wrong, but isn't Israel one of the recognized nuclear countries?
  5. I don't like going off on people, but you are ######ing sick. You are saying that the US deserved to be attacked and that it was to be expected. The you stated that, it ######ing sounds like you were happy it happened. That's ######ing sick. 24 isn't real life. The president isn't a ######ing terrorist. It's absolutely asinine that people think Bush would kill innocent Americans for political games. Those kind of people are sick ######s and the worst kind of anti-Americans there are. You can not imagine how irate I am right now. Thank God for the language filter.
  6. Get your facts straight. It was in 1979 under Jimmy Carter when the US began funding and training rebel forces to fight against the invading Russians. Reagan simply maintained Carter's program, as did Bush. The US was wrong to help Iraq gain access to chemical weapons, but France and the Soviet Union were also backing and helping Saddam during the war with Iran. In fact, Iraq started the war using Soviet weapons. It should say something that both the US and Soviet Union were backing Saddam against the revolutionary Iran. My idol? Why would he be my idol? I was four years old when he left office. Have I ever even brought his name up in conversation?
  7. Not really that difficult to figure out. The last post by shortcat in this thread was about Wooley. Doesn't really take a rocket scientist.
  8. I never said such a thing. If I felt the administration had purposely lied in order to justify going into Iraq, I would have been very upset about it. I think they were given bad information and they went in thinking they really did have just cause. I do not believe they manipulated information and whatnot just to given them an excuse. If that were true, there would be no way they could have gotten away with it. Somebody would have gotten scared and talked. Someone would have seen how badly things have gone and admitted wrong doing. Unless somebody can prove the administration manipulated the information to suit their needs, I will continue to believe that the intelligence community is at fault, not the Bush administration. How can anyone justify siding with Hezbollah in that situation? They deliberately targeted civilians and are a known terrorist organization. I'll admit that Israel did a horrible job of avoiding collateral damage, but they were fully justified to fight back against Hezbollah. If the UN does nothing about Iran, I will lose what little faith I have left in that organization. Iran has repeatedly ignored UN regulations and UN laws and something clearly needs to be done. Their president has publicly said he wants to make nukes so he can obliterate Israel. The UN cannot allow such a person to be in control of a country. He is very comparable to Hitler. If you really want to blame someone for what Osama did, look no further than Bill Clinton. Al-Qaeda was responsible for the 1994 WTC bombing and also the deaths of 224 people at a US embassy in Africa. Osama bin Laden had declared war on the United States, making him perhaps the most wanted man of the American government. Towards the end of Clinton's presidency, spy planes over Afghanistan were tracking Al-Qaeda groups and with a high probability had found bin Laden. The 9/11 Commission says the videos taken showed a man in flowing white robes, surrounded by shorter, heavily armed men. bin Laden is a tall man, so he would likely tower over his body guards and the video was taken within a few miles of his known hideout. Democratic Senator Bob Kerrey admits a big reason that Clinton decided not to act on this information was because his support in Congress had been weakened by the sex scandal, and he didn't feel he would get the needed support to go after bin Laden. If you thought his affair didn't affect his ability to run this country, then you are sorely mistaken. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4540958/ Also, starting in around 1996, the government of Sudan repeatedly tried to share information on terrorists in as a show of good faith that they were not harboring terrorists. The Clinton administration refused to open talks about the information, citing the suspected harboring of terrorists. However, no real effort was made the check whether or not the allegations of Sudan harboring terrorists were true until May of 2000. After over a year of investigation, the country was found to be innocent of the accusations. By this time, the information the Bush adminstration recieved was too late to help prevent bin Laden from carrying out the 9-11 attack. Had the Clinton adminstration not waited 4 years to investigate Sudan, we could have had a wealth of information well in advance of 9-11.
  9. I remember it like it was yesterday. Senior year in high school, we're starting 2nd period US Government class when one of the class clowns raises his hand and says someone crashed a plane into the World Trade Center. Everyone just laughed, thinking he was just making things up. Little did we know, he was telling the truth and had heard about it on the radio while lifting weights in gym class. At the beginning of third period, the principle comes over the PA and tells everything that has happened and leads the school in a prayer. Even after this, the teachers wouldn't let us watch the news. Until I got home, all I got to see that day was 5 minutes of coverage after everyone finished their Physics lab experiment. I got in trouble in computer class for going around different news sites rather than working on the assignment. I was always kind of bitter that for 5 periods we all had to go about our day as if nothing had happened.
  10. Something to think about: When I was getting Jackets tickets, I was talking to the lady about how last year I got great seats just days before the game. She said that most season ticket holders don't redeem all their tickets, and the extras go back on sale to the general public close to the game date. I'm sure more Habs ticket holders use all their tix than in Columbus, but it's always something to think about. Also, I know a lot of teams hold back a certain number of tickets and release them to the public later, just to give people a chance every now and then.
  11. Not sure what you mean by that, everyone knows Al Qaeda is public enemy numero uno. We didn't go into Iraq because they all of a sudden topped the list, it was just next on the checklist. Saddam repeatedly got away with breaking UN regulations, openly supported terrorist acts, and he wasn't exactly the USA's biggest fan. That's a combination that just screams "Big threat!" Of course, we all know bad intelligence was used as further justification and that the strategy for the war was lousy. Hindsight is 20-20. I don't really care that his ties to Al-Qaeda were never proven or that no WMDs were found. Saddam had the power, influence, motive, and opportunity to help fund an attack on the US. The fact that he was a brutal dictator guilty of attempted genocide only helps the case against him. Probably true, but at this point, the official government does not yet have the means to do anything about the warlords. Training their own forces while keeping their laws takes time.
  12. Yeah, but it will be just as lame as the new TMNT cartoon show.
  13. The Standard Meaning of "Midwest United States" As you can see on the map, Ohio is widely recognized as being in the Midwest. And actually, Missouri is only considered to some to be in the Midwest. Obviously geographically almost none of the states should even be considered midwestern, with the Dakotas, Kansas, and Nebraska being the only ones who could legitimately be called midwestern.
  14. How ironic. You criticise Emerson (a Canadian) for caring about America, while you (an American) care so much about Canada. You, yourself have said small groups of rebels are still dominating politics in the rural areas. The Taliban is officially out of power, but they are still around. Leaving now would just give them more opportunity to try and get their power back. Until they have a stable government setup and a means of enforcing laws totally by themselves, the ally forces can't just leave. Plus, Osama is still out there somewhere. And during those 600 years there were wars going on pretty much the entire time.
  15. Since the other thread is more of a debate than a tribute:
  16. Wow, you are incredibly paranoid, especially given the fact that the laws made by the Bush administration have prevented terrorists from making a single attack since 9-11. And it's not as if they haven't tried.
  17. Absolutely. They only come this close to you once every 3 years. If you break it down like that, it's only two and a third hours per year spenting driving to see the Habs. I was disappointed that I didn't get row A. I went to a game in December and got row A in the upper deck the week before the game. From what the ticket seller said, those tickets probably were made available late, when season ticket holders didn't get their seats for that particular game. Guess I'll check every so often to see if I can sneak into row A and sell the other tickets.
  18. February 18, 2007: :hlogo: @ Section 211, Row H, seats 17 and 18 :king: Also, I won a Jackets winter hat and preseason tickets to see the Jackets play Carolina. 80 bucks worth of merchandise. If Williams plays, I'll make sure to boo him on behalf of all Habs fans! CAN'T WAIT! GO HABS!
  19. Then I think we misunderstood your statement. I agree, Higgins is not a first line winger in the long term. He should be a consistent 25-30 goal scorer who also contributes on the PK. On a team with good players spread over the first two lines, then he should be fine on a line 1a
  20. Of course it is a possibility, but the evidence points to him not being overwhelmed. He did most of his scoring down the stretch, when goals are harder to come by. Also, by that time in the season, teams had better adjusted defensively to the new rules. Higgins season was impressive mostly because of when he did what he did. Of course it could have been a fluke, but he played well when it mattered.
  21. I'm guessing a network like Nick@Nite would pick up the rights after the show runs its course on normal syndication.
  22. Yes. Let's curse a guy for an accidental play that could have happened to anyone who has ever picked up a hockey stick. If Koivu does not regain the peripheral in that eye, then there is no way he can continue playing center in the NHL. His game revolves around his excellent on-ice vision, his ability to pass the puck to the open man. If he can only see one winger, then he is no good to a team. If, and that is a big if, his peripheral vision does not return, his only chance is to move to the wing so the only thing he can't see is the boards. Who can say? The eye is one of the human body's most delicate organs. Most likely, it will return with time. If not, who knows what will happen. Not all eye injuries can be saved by surgery. In some cases, the surgery to repair the eye could be too risky. Just think what a tradgedy it would be if he tried a risky procedure to save the peripheral vision he ends ups losing the eye altogether. I hope he will be fine, but eye injuries are very delicate. I remember an NFL player once missed over 2 seasons after an eye injury.
  23. Haha, we were lucky if we were using OS 8, which I think is what we upgraded to eventually. It's a shame they stopped making whatever model my parents had. It's a one piece desktop Mac that came very well priced. A solid computer, though within two years it had a major hardware issue that took 2 weeks in the shop to repair.
  24. Eyes are delicate organs. There's no way to know 100% if it will heal completely.
