That was a hell of a team effort...gutted out a great comeback.

The lack of finish is on display again early; lots of shots, no goals. Winnipeg gets a quality chance, it's in the back of the net.

Very solid take on the state of affairs. I think along similar lines, although my view of KK is trending lower; his developing into a GOOD 3rd line C no longer seems to be a guarantee. He's still falling all over the place looking like Bambbi on ice, and he loses/mishandles the puck a lot. Price and Weber are indeed done; we can only hope that both decide they've had enough of the NHL grind and retire well before those god-awful contracts run much longer. This team has major holes, and unfortunately, it will be hard to fill them until we find a way to be rid of Price and Weber and their horrific cap hits.

100% The inability of this team to score has been an issue for a long time. Our lineup is littered with guys who have pitiful goal totals for the season. -

The Leafs must be giddy with the thought of facing us in the 1st round. This is depressing. -

Stay out of the box, blanket Matthews, and this is winnable despite the notable absences. A little magic from Toffoli, Anderson, and maybe a huge 1st NHL goal from a certain rookie could get the job done. -
Drouin takes indefinite leave of absence from the Habs

All I'm looking at is next man up/cap space/hockey implications, because we have no idea what is going on with mental or physical health (and it's none of our business). You can concern yourself on other levels if you like, that's your choice...but I'm not going to apologize for mine. Take your name-calling and shove it up your a** -

Whatever the root cause may be, given how terrible he was playing, this is a blessing. I hope to see Caufield in his spot on the PP hammering one-timers. -

I noticed this many games ago...it's infuriating. It needs to be beaten out of him; Ducharme should assign him hard punishment laps / suicides at the next practice every time it happens. The same for Kotkaniemi falling all the damn time for no good reason...looks like Bambi out there. -

It wasn't pretty, but it was a win, and that's a nice change of pace. I hope Caufield gets a grade A scoring chance soon...I feel like he's going to bury it when he does. -

😃 The sheer joy that news gives me...magical. (Not so much about Gus being in, the part about Drouin being out) -

I see our coach still doesn't have the guts to make Drouin a healthy scratch....a real shame. I can only hope that once Price is back and there is cap room to make some adjustments, he's finally banished to the press box. Anybody else would have been long ago. That poll made for a very tough decision between Toffoli and Anderson. Anderson was a tempting choice, given he's the type of player we've desperately needed for ages. In the end I chose Toffoli, because on a team starved for goals he's produced the most goals, and likely has had a slightly larger impact where it matters most: team points. -
This is a sad day for me. For the first time since the pre-Kovalev lull, I will not watch the Habs game in spite of being free to do so this evening. I just can't bring myself to care about this bunch of losers anymore...the boring anemic offense has broken my will. I'm not watching another game until Caufield debuts. I hope they make it worth your while to watch, gentlemen; I will be watching the episode of Mayans that I missed last night, and then Snowfall after that.

He may or may not be, but we are a team desperate for goals and Byron has a whopping 4 on the season...pretty sure Caufield is a hell of a lot closer to Shutt scoring-wise than Byron is.
-
Very true. Lightning, Bruins, Leafs, and Panthers are all better than us, and another 'weaker' team in our usual division (Ottawa) tends to own us. We aren't even a bubble team under normal circumstances: we miss the playoffs by a fair margin.

I don't think we actually could, but the thought did make me happy for a brief moment...thanks for that. -

But we don't need to try Caufield. We just have to keep running Jonathan f**king '2 goals' Drouin out there....he's going to break out of his slump and start lighting it up any day now...you'll see! If this is truly an issue of cap management only, Bergevin and his whole team should be shown the door. Pathetic. -

Looks like the same-old, same-old strategy is in play for tonight lineupwise. Let's hope the matchup dynamics with Edmonton provide the change needed from the garbage play we've seen recently.
