  1. Rivet brings nothing to the table IMO....why is he even on the damn ice? At least Souray gets back some of the goals he gives up on the PP. Aebischer gave up a fat rebound on goal number 3.
  2. Love that jab...and it would be great to see Kovy give Theodore some 'chin music' in a shoot-in situation to rattle him.
  3. I want to see a Bonk-Plekanec switch. Bonk has experience playing with offensively gifted players from his Ottawa days, whereas Plekanec looks lost on the enemy side of the red line more often than not. I think it would be good for both players.
  4. I don't miss many Habs games, but I missed this one due to attending a wake for a friend's father tonight...and the post-wake drinking that rightfully occurs. Not sure what went wrong, but was disappointed to see that the Habs only scored one goal. How does that happen?
  5. Firepower resulted in a win. Terribly sloppy in our own end (Huet left alone with a man cross-crease on two of the goals), jobbed by the referee to an extent, but still got a win. Good character-building game. Oh, and another thing: watching Phaneuf and Iginla behaving like jackasses out there at times, I couldn't help but finding myself lamenting that we don't have a scrapper. Both deserved to get tuned.
  6. I think he's going to put up better numbers, as the Western Conference's style of hockey is better suited to his game. Everyone needs to remember that if Ribeiro puts up a huge number of points in Dallas, you can be sure that he wouldn't have been able to duplicate that in Montreal.
  7. This is very bad news, as he was really on top of his game.
  8. Aebischer has played 2 strong games this year....I don't know how that has so quickly erased the memory of some fine 'shit the bed' nights he had last season in your mind rock_billy69. Remember the Penguins game where he let in 4 goals a Jr. B goalie is expected to stop 99 times out of 100? He hasn't come close to having earned the number-one goalie label yet IMO.
  9. Kovalev does need to step it up a notch, but I put half the blame for his lack of production on having new linemates who don't know how to play with him effectively yet. Latendresse being promoted would not be a good thing IMO...this guy still doesn't have the discipline to get off the ice with his linemates; he's taking minute-long junior style shifts a couple of times every game so far.
  10. They looked better offensively from what I saw channel-flicking tonight. They forechecked very aggressively.
  11. Woah..ease up there. If you're going to criticize a goalie, it shouldn't be for the results of shootouts. He only allowed two goals in regulation...he did his job.
  12. Disappointing effort for a home opener...there was never really a sustained 'surge' that you'd expect offensively. Not going to complain about getting a point out of the deal.
  13. Time to play like this is a home game and really GO FOR IT. Except for a couple of aggressive penalty kills, this has felt like a road game so far.
  14. We need Kovalev for this game....I still have fond memories of how he dismantled them almost single-handedly when he came back from injury last year.
  15. First and foremost, I hate their fans. Their fans are more often than not obnoxious, delusional, and downright insufferable. It's like an extention of what I find with many Torontonians in general: Torontonians think TO is the center of the universe, and Leafs fans think their team is the crown jewel of the NHL. This in spite of the facts before them: the Leafs haven't done anything worth mentioning since 1967, and the city has degenerated into a gun-crime-ridden cesspool on par with many major US cities. What's to brag about?!?! My hate peaked during the whining 'crybaby regime' of Domi, Tucker, Corson, and Quinn. Toss in the dirty play of the above mentioned along with Green and Marchment, and my hate brewed even stronger. Any time my hate begins to subside even a tad, I can always count on the Leafs cheerleaders on TSN and CBC to rile me right back up. I honestly think I'd punch Harry Neale in the mouth if I ever met him...same goes for Glenn Healy. I know there should be SOME measure of bias towards the 'home team', but these guys twist the truth to the point where it's a complete lack of professionalism. There is no team in any sport I hate half as much as the Leafs. I cheer for the Giants in baseball, but I don't hate the Dodgers as much as I hate the Leafs. I am a Michigan Wolverines fan, but I don't hate Notre Dame or Ohio State nearly as much as I hate the Leafs. The Toronto Maple Leafs and their fans are the lowest of the low...the scum that grows on the bottom of a cockroach's belly....and I will forever hate them with every fiber of my being.
  16. Decent road game by the Habs...5/6 possible points on the road to start...I think the team is poised to explode offensively on the Sens Saturday night.
  17. I don't like the huge momentum swing....we need a good shift NOW!!!
  18. I never said he wasn't working hard...what I was observing is that at times he didn't look like he knew where to go when Kovalev or Samsonov was carrying the puck. Looked fine on that goal tho.
  19. That last goal by Kovalev was all my doing....my .01%
  20. Plekanec looks lost between Kovalev and Samsonov. Time to try Bonk maybe.
  21. I'm hoping Kovy racks up some points in this game...I have him in one of my pools. Habs winning 4-2 sounds about right to me. We should get a fair number of PP opportunities if our forwards are skating hard and cycling the puck effectively. I know what you mean....I've already eaten dinner, and there's nothing but news on TV right now. Time is passing so darn slowly!
  22. I give Calgary vs. Edmonton a slight edge over Montreal vs. Toronto, just because of the provincial supremacy angle.
