With the Leafs it will be big either way, either we make a quick exit or knock them out good, I wouldn't want to face them in the first round not because of their additions or squad but because I don't like the way we have played them for the most part. Boston and TB would be my choices actually, not sure about TB in a playoff series at all eventhough they are going great in the regualar season.

I sure hope you guys are right because I can't see a 6 million (or some figure like that) dollar guy on the roster, yes we will get rid of some of the names mentioned here but I doubt we will just go ahead and spend it on one player.

Mixed reactions as well, I don't think anybody would argue that Kovalev has somewhat of a reputation for being lazy. Now I am not saying he is bad but .... I hope it works out for us. Once in while giving up the 2nd round pick is not a problem, I would even be willing to give a 1st rounder for the right player and I wouldn't call Balej a second tier prospect but it was clear to trade for the playoffs we had to give up one of the guys in Hamilton.

I would say no too but a rental for one not so high draft pick is not so bad, still I don't think it would cost just one mid draft pick and I doubt he would be jumping for joy to join the Habs either, imagine the reception at the Bell Center, somehow I doubt he would welcomed with open arms.

I agree, Bondra is a top level player IMO even if his numbers have fallen. Like I said in the other thread about Sullivan, good or even greater players are available for next to nothing so no one can say 'we can't mortgage our future for this guy or that guy' The only obstacle is the owner putting up some extra dough which he will recoup (some of it easily) if the team is that much stronger and plays more home playoff games.

If you ask me that is further proof that above average, if not great players, can be found cheap. I mean two non first round picks is not that much at all.

My 2 cents: Only removing red line and moving back the goal line will have any impact, the first speeds up the game and increases scoring chance and the second reduces those silly, endless and mostly aimless cycles down low
