I don't think CP31 should sign anything less then what PK got. Would make him highest paid goalie in league and leave some for someone else. Pay the man fair (well, for his talent and league he plays in) wage for what he brings to the team, on and off the ice. Does his namesake not also sell a Bunch of jerseys? If we forget the good works he does with breakfast for kids and equipment and so on and so on. He doesn't take (anymore) dumb pics to get post on the interweb and seems to represent not only the Habs well but his community and country too. Pay the Man! imo

Couple of ppl thought Ott shouldn't have a thread... Sorry I guess for starting it but I thought it was a worth a mention, I liked him as a Hab. I thought he would be great in development coach role for the centers on this team and the farm but maybe not a full time asst. coach on the Habs. That said Big Bird on the Habs in ANY role should be a priority on the same level as getting #1 center, extension to CP31, Radu, top 4 D ....

I was thinking Backstrom a few weeks ago but I was advised that Habs would have to put up maybe more then what would still keep the Habs close to the cup (edit) I had said 3x1st +2x2nd + Sherbak but I was told to start thinking MaxPac +2x1st +Micha +?

You might be right about the venting part, well for me anyway Still that Rags loss is a bitter pill, no? I didn't/don't care about where we end up in season, as long as we make the playoffs. What I want in season is all that flash in pan hockey you don't see really in the playoffs and the loss of PK took that away (from me), I think. Now a playoff loss to an Original 6 because of lack of scoring, when this Team was wanted/needed to do a long spring run kinda bring back the burn of that trade, well to me anyway. :/ I don't think MB should go yet. I think he needs to change his view about some things. Figure a way to work outside of his comfort zone a bit More. Like take a collections/sales training or have a look at different aspects of His board longer then he does now. I hope, wish and certainly pray that can help the many aspects listed in previous post that you may agree are Real issue(s) on this Great Team. I hope this post bring more positivism from my part

I would like MB to find a way to fix the "gaping hole at center" too. I just think sometimes there might be an issue with his approach to agents/players and possibly other GMs ... Seems I hear alot about how some got away. But he was doing Great when he got here, well I seem to remember moves that I was happy with. So did he loose his 'mojo'? I think the other GMs probably figured his tells on the phone, like in poker kinda. I think he should seriously think about having a collections training if not sales at the least.

I think the expansion draft has his value low... but like you say there might be a couple pro scouts out there that might think a change would be great for N8 and so the thinking could be to try and get him low. I think there has been some pressure for him to play "better", I think he has answered the best way that he can. I think a change for his career might be good but this year was a real kick in the teeth for him. Start with Weber and end on the press box... ouch!

I would like to see MB (I assume BeerBossMan won't fire him) pull some moves too... I suck pretty hard at NHL (can't play, can't GM) so I kinda get when he says "trades are hard" but this to makes me believe that a GM by comity system might be needed. I could safely says I have absolutely hated some moves (yes, PK) but I think he has a good GM head to get rid of some contracts to, since he has been here. It might be some of the people he has around him, IMO Timmins, Capt'n Kirk, Dudley... are some Great hockey people, Maybe the Team should build from that. I would love to see Big Bird Larry or Teemu Salane (sp) or Pronger or someone not usual suspect join Habs mngmnt in some significant role. I think this would help change some of the same old methods of seeing/manage assets in house and maybe even out of system as well. Boys in the top floor need to start doing something differently that is for sure.

I think both can be done, only because Vegas coming into league and MB can (with picks) create enough cap space... now as far as being able to do the salesman thing a GM needs to do... I don't know; Radulov was already familiar with Qc (and wanted back in Show), MB hasn't shown me he can do the same with Talent in this league (yet) and missed out on Panarin so this summer will be a big one in that regard I think.

I ever few years you fire the GM/coach then I think it becomes alot harder for the Team to "build from within". Drafting is never truly done with long therm vision as it can take in some cases over 5-7 years for a player to make first real strides in the Show (see Detroit). With that in mind I prone extreme time to be given to a GM once hired + I'm kinda sick from the last 15 years of "drafting program" changes. Let's see how Timmins Late round magic turns for MB still for a bit, for me.

What about Dadonov (maybe I got sp wrong) would he be someone worth going after too. I saw he scored a real nice OT goal in Grigarin cup run... 1 of the 2, MB could get, no?
