  1. Not to mention the fact that by making it this far you get an extra 15+ games in which to watch our beloved Habs. So definitely I would rather make the playoffs! Also...the partying alone is motivation enough for me. I am living in Ottawa now and this place is CRAZY during the games. If lame-ass Ottawa gets this rowdy during the finals...imagine Montreal!! (minus the riots of course).
  2. Agreed...JT should go back to the hole he crawled out of. Plenty of good hockey writers trying to break into the trade, give them a shot and send this friggin idiot to Toronto.
  3. Ya depth is one reason. Another reason is that the Habs do have a stake in the high-performance of the bulldogs. If what Bob says is true and 2-3 of the bulldogs are NHL ready, then they will need to be replaced by somebody (especially now that most draft picks stay in Juniors longer). This new finnish-flash will go to hamilton and further develop. Then again...Bob may leave him in Finland like some of our current prospects out there.
  4. Ryder is an RFA this year. He can technically be let go. Personally my feeling is if we HAVE to keep kovy next year, Ryder will be gone. We can't keep Ryder and give Kovy the ice time he wants. My opinion is that since Kovy is here to stay, Ryder will be the piece we have to give up to make this lineup work next year. Lats - Koivu - Kovy Higgs - Pleks - Kost Lapps - Chips - Streit Locke - Begin - Samsonov (or Milroy is Sammy is gone) ???
  5. Ever hear of addition by subtraction?? JK...I would like to have Shelly back too...
  6. Lil' #### - Grabs - Big #### Man I can't wait to see that line!! All those in favour of that for our 4th line next year say YAY!
  7. Detroit treats "Their Markov" the same way we treat "Our Markov". No way they will trade him away...he is a bid part of their future.
  8. WTH...does this guy represent half the players in the league or what?? How does he find the time to negotiate all these contracts every summer??
  9. He will take that for sure...I really get the sense that he isn't interested in testing FA. Glad to hear BG is pulling out the big-bucks to keep this guy.
  10. It truly is a shame...I was so excited whent he Habs signed him last summer. Although I was disapointed throughout the season, I secretly hoped he could come back next season in a way similar to Bonk. He is still young...I just know he has many good years ahead of him.
  11. Good lord...I want teemu on this team soooo badly. I wonder what the chances would be... I am supposed to be moving to the UK in August, but I would SERIOUSLY consider staying if I knew Teemu was coming...phew...thats would be awseome!
  12. It has indeed been mentioned before... I really dont think it would affect his decision one way or another. As you mentioned, Marty B co-owns one of the restaurants with him and he is in NJ. Players often invest their money on this type of venture, but it never affects their mobility. Jeanne Niinima owns a heavy metal club in chicago, or detroit or something...obviously hasn't affected his mobility . Besides...not like Sheldon runs the place...thank god too...if he makes pizza like he play D...that place owuld be shut down by Health Canada!!
  13. Yeh...my feeling is: When you see effort from a talented player...the points will follow!
  14. I agree...in principle... I do not think that keeping both of them is a good idea. In the ideal world, we would keep Kovy and trade Sammy. Unfortunately I do not think Sammy is as valuable on the trade market as Kovy. Despite the fact that Sammy is younger...there are definitely teams that would rather Kovy over Sammy (i.e. Caps). Personally I think we will be without Kovy next year and Sammy will take his place. Personally I think this may be a good thing. With all due respect to Kovy's "tremendous skill", at least Sammy put forth an effort every-night!
  15. Best rookie: Latendresse (Honourable mention: Kosty) Best Veteran: Captain K!
  16. Man....wouldn't Selanne look good with the CH on his chest and Saku at his center?? Thats my wet dream for next season...you can't buy that kind of chemistry (oh wait...YOU CAN). Latendress - Koivu - Selanne Higgs - Pleks - Kost Johnson - Chips - Ryder/Kovy (Get rid of one through a trade) Begin/Milroy - Grabs - Lapierre (energy line) Morkov - Komi ??? - Georges Bouillon - Dandy Huet - Halak/Price (I think it may be worth giving price 1-2 games next season)
  17. Sens just won 3-2 in OT...they win the series in 5 and are moving on to the finals...
  18. I don't know what to do here...The Sens have just won the Eastern Conference Finals in 5 games and are moving on to the Stanley Cup Finals! As it stands the Montreal Canadiens were the last Canadian team to win the cup. Part of me wants to keep it like that until we can win it again, but the patriotic part of me wants the Sens to win it and bring the Cup home!! What do you all think?? Go Sens Go??
  19. Tell me about it...according to Hockeybuzz, TSN, Sportsnet, etc... half the free agents are going to Toronto this summer. Apperently the NHL (Located in TO) has decided to remove the cap restriction for the Leafs so they can win a cup for their biggest market...
  20. Although I understand the intricacies of demand driven economics... THIS IS FRIGGIN ABSURD!! THIS IS ALSO EQUALLY SHAMEFUL! My god...after what the fans have been through this season with this underperforming team...they should be GIVING the seats away to make up for it.
  21. Yes, according to that caption there is "apparently" a good chance that, despite the lack of a transfer agreement, the habs will be able to bring over Valentenko. Emelin will be more difficult because he is under contract. Also, it states that "apparently" both player would like to make the jump to North American hockey. I put the word apparently in parenthesese (sp?) because you can never be sure of these sources. We shall see! Emelin has "apparently" not been paid properly by his club so he MAY be able to break his contract. Based on his play at the IIHF WHC, I'd love to see him over here!
  22. I'll cheer for Ottawa simply because I'm living here now. Although I was in Montreal during the Habs' last Stanley Cup win, I don't remember it very well. I think it will be a hell of a party here in Ottawa if they win it and I am excited to be here for that. That is why I will cheer for them.
  23. Wow...this is someone who is a positive thinker!
