  1. Tkachuk dropped his stick tangling with Edmundson, and Edmundson cleverly kept his skate on it, so he had probably a five-second head start on Tkachuk, who first had to pick up his stick. Credit to Edmundson on a heads-up play.
  2. A rough second period for the Rocket, three goals allowed on 13 shots, and they are down 3-1 going into the second intermission.
  3. T. Pitlick doesn't quite have his cousin's sniping instincts.
  4. And I think we are back at the defensive breakdowns again. This time it's Price in net, and not at his sharpest, but the D corps is giving up all kinds of opportunities, too.
  5. Thanks! I suppose the refs felt it was not a deliberate passing motion?
  6. Is that a different challenge from the coach's challenge? Or is that just one of the valid arguments for a coach's challenge?
  7. They have already scored infinitely more goals for Price than in his first two games back!
  8. I don't really see so much concrete negative content about Bergevin there. The alumni access -- if that was him -- is a bit petty, but, other than that, the only thing there is Savard complaining that Bergevin was ungrateful and didn't call him after being hired.
  9. I won't argue with these. But having the right players in the bottom six is significant, too. In our last five games, five out of seven goals have been scored by the bottom two lines. You need to have some capability on those lines, too, for when your elite players go cold (and everyone goes cold from time to time). So, I'm still interested in how well RHP does. 🙂
  10. And there is real value in being able to roll four strong lines -- basically we made it to the final a year ago with four solid bottom-9 lines.
  11. Kraken leading the Avalanche 2-0 in the first… Francouz with a .333 save percentage so far.
  12. I'm hoping he might be more skilled and more disciplined than Pezzetta. Or is that too much to expect?
  13. How we get here was rather different from the Flyers, though.
  14. Everyone wants Shane Wright as a teammate maybe?
  15. Five games left for the Habs. Philly is six points ahead, Seattle five, so those look pretty unlikely, too. On the other hand, we keep offering opportunities to Arizona (two points behind) but they have not grasped one of those yet. Not likely but there is still some hope.
  16. So, Price is about 2.00 GAA, but the team has yet to score for him ...
  17. He's making $750/175K now -- wouldn't he be worth that even if he doesn't play a single NHL game next year?
  18. Basically it removes all ability to accumulate cap space, the way the Habs did last season by shuffling players to Laval.
  19. Or would someone trade from 1st overall down to, say, fifth, for a late second-round pick? I think not. The values really do drop down much faster than this, especially in the first round.
  20. Lehkonen 2g+3a in 9 games, playing 17-18 minutes/game, a bigger role than he had in Montreal even though the Avs are a stronger team. I suspect that the Avalanche think they got good value in this trade. Maybe this will have been a win-win trade?
  21. Losing Chiarot and Lehkonen hurts defensively. And especially with Caufield going through a dry spell, they are not scoring enough to make up for that.
  22. Habs and Coyotes both 2-8 in their last ten games. Unlikely they will catch us but all it takes is a few surprise games.
