  1. So ... Berube is the #1 in Laval now, with Primeau recalled to Montreal? And who will be the backup? Our goalie injury situation has been absolutely terrible this year.
  2. It's just more lottery tickets -- can't really tell the probabilities on any of them yet.
  3. I think the only indication so far is a story by Mathias Brunet in La Presse, where he opines that Stapley is unlikely to be signed.
  4. They haven't announced any decision about Stapley anyway, have they? I think it was just someone from TSN saying that he probably wouldn't be signed.
  5. There is no question that players will be moved this summer. We just don't know which ones, or exactly how much cap space that will free up.
  6. Yes ... if they are still doing well. But if we somehow have three strong goalie prospects (plus Primeau!) I don't expect it will be too difficult to find a taker for one of those.
  7. I think he has something like 34 shutouts in three years of NCAA hockey. Hobey Baker winner.
  8. Are the Habs expected to be bidding for any of the NCAA free agents, such as Dryden (!) McKay or Ben Meyers?
  9. What a turnaround! (Will save the banana until later though!)
  10. How things change ... mind you, that's from almost five years ago!
  11. 3-0 Utica halfway through the first period. Primeau four saves on seven shots (one of the goals on PP).
  12. He's still unlikely to do a corporate-style PPT. 🙂
  13. I think we'll get more communication after the UFA deadline, after the draft and most (?) of the offseason trades are done. Unlike the corporate CEOs, an NHL GM is dependent on being able to trade assets with his competitors, so I think fewer details will be revealed in any case. And the GMs don't do as many PowerPoints! 😂
  14. After a more respectable start, he scored one goal in December, two in January and two in February -- and none in March. Averaging 11 minutes TOI in March. I'm glad we did not match that offer sheet.
  15. 25 points and -18 for the season. As a point of comparison, Dougie Hamilton, who was a popular UFA target here as I recall, is also playing on the third pair, and is at 28 points and -15 for the season. And has a $9M cap hit, for another six year yet.
  16. Poehling has definitely regressed after showing better form earlier in the season. This might be the end of the road for him. And, unlike his cousin, T. Pitlick has not impressed yet. Hoffman is not producing but maybe it's the linemates. Could another team still find value there? Ylonen has shown more capability in the sniper role than Hoffman (when not saddled with Poehling and T. Pitlick) and is far less expensive.
  17. Subban and Hamilton (!) both -4 on the night. We'd be better off keeping Wideman and spending our cap space elsewhere.
  18. The Sens lost but the Kraken is winning 1-0.
  19. Wideman has a bad rep. But I don't think he's quite as atrocious as some people say. He does play protected minutes but he's not the only one. Let's look at the on-ice stats for the five D-men with ~50% (or higher offensiove-zone face-offs): Clague: 2.59 GA/60, 3.17 xGA/60, 14.46 HDCA/60 Kulak: 3.02 GA/60, 2.37 xGA/60, 10.91 HDCA/60 Niku: 2.18 GA/60, 2.16 xGA/60, 9.83 HDCA/60 Schueneman: 2.10 GA/60, 3.39 xGA/60, 14.29 HDCA/60 Wideman: 2.81 GA/60, 2.62 xGA/60, 12.18 HDCA/60 There really isn't that much of a difference between those five ...
  20. They've only scored three goals, and they already have seven shots on goal. I wouldn't get my hopes up! 🤪
  21. That Barron collision in the last game didn't look good. Was there any word on the severity of the injury?
  22. They actually have until August 15. https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2017/08/ncaa-free-agent-rules.html
  23. My only half-serious post was really intending to point out that any non-elite offensive D-man will come with some defensive challenges. There is no free lunch here.
