  1. I agree. With O'Byrne and Gorges, I would SOOO Much rather have both of them playing and let Dandy and Bouillon go... now if we could just figure out how to get rid of them. I know we could waive them, but I doubt BG will do it (too much of a gentleman (unfortunately sometimes)) and I don't know whether he'll get any takers for them with their salaries... I do think they're both examples of fringe players who are overpaid, which is something BG does every so often...
  2. Oh Chris, lol, the problem is that all of these jobs are supposed to be the job of the "main coaches" (i.e. Carbo, Muller, Jarvis)... I think it'll be better this year with players being added from the farm used to the system...

  4. Your point is right, but you should remember that most of the depth on our team that everyone is boasting about are in the "new finds" who haven't yet had to clear waivers because the don't have the Pro years under their belt, not guys like Cote, Locke, etc, but guys like S. Kostitsyn, Grabovski, D'agostini...
  5. Just a question Spidey. Have you based the lineups on Practice, or have you read somewhere that Lapierre is definitely NOT in the lineup tomorrow night?
  6. You're right. maybe Carbo just figures he's had "an ordinary camp" as he said, and is trying to light a fire under him to inspire him by giving him a challenge.
  7. GC said that, but he also refuted that O'Byrne has to be a top 6 to stay with the big team, so maybe he's changed his mind about chips and grabs too?
  8. Yes, but all of that is based on the line combinations he saw during practice, with Chipper and Grabs as Centers, and Lappy as an extra forward. Frankly, I'd rather they cut Murray and kept all three...
  9. It's not just RDS. Pat Hickey's in Tremblant with the team, and said Lappierre and Murray were the two "extra forwards" in practice today... Grabovski was on a line with Smoke and Lats
  10. Pat Hickey of the Gazette has been saying Huet will get the starts, based on Carbo saying that he'll ice his opening day lineup for the final 2 games, but nothing's set in stone yet...
  11. true... but who knows, he could clear... He cleared on the way down, didn't he?
  12. Maybe so, but i'd rather still have Danis just in case... You never know how fast a bunch of players can get injured and we could need him. It's not unlikely, but it's not unheard of either...
  13. yeah, I'm having a hard time with that one too...
  14. Just to consolidate. Courtesy of Habs I/O, Here is the total list of cuts, 29 in all: Goalies: Yann Danis (must clear waivers) Loïc Lacasse Cédrick Desjardins Defencemen: Andrew Archer (must clear waivers) Mathieu Biron (must clear waivers) Mathieu Carle Jean-Philippe Côté (must clear waivers) Marvin Degon Jon Gleed Jamie Rivers (must clear waivers) Pavel Valentenko Forwards: Mathieu Aubin Ajay Baines Thomas Beauregard Jimmy Bonneau Matt D'Agostini David Desharnais Jonathan Ferland (must clear waivers) Sergei Kostitsyn Janne Lahti Francis Lemieux Corey Locke (must clear waivers) Eric Manlow Ben Maxwell (to junior) Duncan Milroy (must clear waivers) Ryan Russell Gregory Stewart Cory Urquhart (must clear waivers) Ryan White (to junior) Here is the list of players going to Mont Tremblant, 26 in all: GOALIES: Jaroslav Halak, Cristobal Huet, Carey Price. FORWARDS: Steve Bégin, Kyle Chipchura, Mikhail Grabovski, Christopher Higgins, Saku Koivu, Andrei Kostitsyn, Tom Kostopoulos, Alex Kovalev, Maxim Lapierre, Guillaume Latendresse, Garth Murray, Tomas Plekanec, Michael Ryder, Bryan Smolinski.
  15. just goes to show how many decisions the GM's and coaches have to make... Someone will always be questioning them no matter what...
  16. another 5 cut: D: Andrew Archer (must clear waivers) Mathieu Biron (must clear waivers) F: Mathieu Aubin Duncan Milroy (must clear waivers) Ryan Russell This could be it for Milroy... If Biron ends up anywhere else, I'm not heart broken. Not sure about Milroy... he showed a lot of promise last year, but is this it? Is Murray really a better "fighter"/agitator than Milroy? at least you could imagine that Milroy still had some upside we haven't yet seen...
  17. From Habs I/O, here are the first 8 cuts: Goalies: Yann Danis (must clear waivers); Loïc Lacasse; Cédrick Desjardins Defenceman: Jon Gleed Forwards: Ajay Baines; Corey Locke (must clear waivers); Eric Manlow; Gregory Stewart Note Danis and Locke have to clear waivers. They'll probably both be picked up. I'm a little disappointed in losing Danis for nothing, but I guess he would have likely only brought a prospect back unless part of a package trade and we've got LOTS of prospects as is, so.....
  18. Man! I saw the title of the thread and figured you were posting the list of cuts!
  19. I know Danis has to clear waivers, but does Halak? If not, maybe BG will send Halak down just so he doesn't lose Danis for nothing while he tries to trade him quickly (if unable to get something done by the end of training camp, then early in the season). He could get something useful back for Danis I think, or make him part of a package, and it would be a shame to lose him for nothing.
  20. I know i'm replying to myself, but I've just been giving what I wrote yesterday more thought, and here's what I figure: If the Habs send Danis down to Hamilton, they will lose him on waivers. I really believe that the two goalies Carbo wants to keep this season are Huet and Halak, so they're probably trying to trade Danis before the season starts. that said, if they can't trade him, I think they are more likely to start with Huet and Danis, and send Halak down until they find a suitable trade option for Danis. At that point, Halak will be called back up to play with Huet... but I don't think they'll risk losing Danis for nothing... All of this is of course based on the assumption that Halak still can't doesn't have to clear waivers if he's sent down. Can someone confirm?
  21. I think it's fine as is as well. If ppl find their way here, all the better and it's great having them, but at the same time, this forum already has a lot of intelligent posters and we have a great conversation going as is, so it's not really necessary.
  22. I suspect that Danis' play is going to help him be used as trade bait, not be the guy who sticks around (either here or in Hamilton) if one of the goalies is going to leave. My guess would be that BG will do his best to keep Halak and trade Danis, but if another team is insisting on Halak (and the trade rumours for goalies all include Halak right now, not Danis) than Gainey may go with it if he wants what the other team is offering badly enough... My ohter feeling is that Carbo is trying to raise Danis' stock by saying he's been the best goalie on the team through the exhibition games, so that other teams will pay attention to him, and so that the other goalies will feel pushed to work harder and play better...
  23. yup, and yup... Really, I'm not even thinking of him as a prospect anymore. He's like Lapierre to me and they're both considered regulars on the team. After him, it's chips.
