  1. It didn’t help that Price played injured in the Olympics, when he probably should have shut it down.
  2. Well last night the oilers out shot SJS badly (I think it was 42-19), and lost 3-2. That sounds like a goaltending issue. When that continues to happen it’s going to impact the confidence of the team.
  3. He should be the one fired. Goaltending is in him. Doesn’t make sense to fire the coach and than get a new GM come in at the end of the year and pick another coach.
  4. Thants what happens when you don’t have legit goaltending, or a legit D! Nurse is NOT a $9m dman, and IMO is not even a legit top pairing dman. Imagine how much worse they would be if they didn’t get Ekholm - one of the few good deals Holland did make. Holland is still operating like it’s 2001. There is also reports that he is in on Patrick Kane.🙄
  5. Given that we are probably two years away from being legit (assuming Hutson/Reinbacher come in next year and are big parts in their second year, and Guhle keeps taking bigger steps), and that Huberdeau will probably decline further, I wouldn’t want $10m tied up with him.
  6. I don’t want a Huberdeau at that price for 7 years. Getting rid of Gallagher for a worst contract that runs longer makes zero sense. I see Huberdeau closer to be a dependable 75 point guy (not a 115 or 90 point guy), and that’s before not accounting for aging and declining over the next few years. Not worthy the risk. We only have one more year of Armia to put up with, so moving him shouldn’t be part of the discussion.
  7. Price can be replaced by using his place for. Someone else by using LTIR. Campbell you are stuck with and would have to buy out. So no way would I want Cam
  8. I think anyone taking on Campbell’s contract has to be nuts. Even if Edmonton retained 50% - who would we by him?
  9. Edmonton HAS to upgrade their goaltending. If Bouchard DIDN’T break out last year and they were in the same situation, who knows if an Allan+Baron for skinner+Bouchard would have been possible. i think Bouchard is probably untouchable now. Then again, who knows how much Baron would look with Ekholm?
  10. No way do I want Campbell’s cap hit at. A time we while be making a push to be a legit playoff team, and potentially a contender. I wouldn’t mind trading Allen for a good prospect and a a bad contract for the rest of this year, and at most next year. But not longer than that. I think Tampa could be another team that may be interested in one our goalies - but would need to dump salary.
  11. Agreed hopefully we’ll also have guys like Andersson, Roy, Mailloux, and norlinder all get 10-15 game looks by the end of this season.
  12. Ok. I agree with that. I don’t think we necessarily need to move Matheson - I don’t think it will depend on Reinbacher/Hutson’s readiness and development of our other young D. You do need to have a veteran D, and he is the only one I’d want we are ready to compete. Next year I think is the first year that we can reasonably have a chance at being a playoff team if the kids continue to take steps forward, but the following year is when I think we need to get back in the playoffs.
  13. I don’t know why we would want to trade a D prospect YET. There is no hurry. Last thing I would want to do is trade a guy before we have a better idea of what he can/will become. there's no hurry right now. There isn’t anyone in Laval that is an obvious call up at the current stage of their development. I also am pretty sure we will move Savard at the deadline. the moves we should be making before trading a dman is Anderson and Dvorak. We have guys knocking at the door in Laval. The other move that will probably have to be made in the next 20 games is a goalie.
  14. Stubbornness, and because at the end of the day, I don’t think Anderson can really work with anyone.
  15. Keep in mind that Lapierre backed up his points of saying elite players don’t need to play in the minors, and giving examples of Hedman and Stamkos from Tampa, and I think Hughes from NJ as examples of elite players who didn’t play in the minors and learned in the NHL. of course he ignored that Point (combo of two post-draft years in juniors and AHL, Kucherov (extra year in junior + AHL), Sergechev (extra year in junior). Of course he ignored examples of guys like Kirill Kaprizov whose a number of years in Russia after being drafted. he also ignored a lot of other players that were rushed before they were ready. If KK is doing better now, it’s not because he was always ready, it’s probably because for a much better coach, better players and has had a number of years to get better and doesn’t look like Bambi on ice anymore. We also don’t know if this is a short term blip or he’s finally putting it together.
  16. So which one should the league handled more harshly? I think the league could have taken a stronger stand - the criminal repercussions were negligible for the franchise.
  17. Agreed it deserved punishment - but what was worse - what Chicago did or Ottawa?
  18. Depends if if it was an issue of intentionally not providing full disclosure or a mistake or oversight.
  19. It’s ridiculous that they lose a #1 puck over a mistake, whereas Chicago loses nothing for the whole Beach fiasco. By comparison that should have warranted at least three #1 picks, and not just costed the Coach (who is no longer with the team) and the GM their jobs.
  20. How is Andersson doing in his overall game? the stats look good!
  21. If Monohan is healthy and has been healthy leading up the deadline and they want to sign him, I’d try for a 2 or 3 year deal. If we can’t get a reasonable short term deal done by the deadline, they HAVE to move him and get that first round pick. If he can’t stay healthy, but is at least healthy at the deadline, you also have to move him.
  22. I’m not sure why we don’t give Slafkovsky a look on the Suzuki line. He looked really effective with Dach. I think playing him with Anderson who doesn’t seem to fit with anyone isn’t helping him any.
  23. I think Newhook and potentilly Slafkovsky will be good supporting players- but supportive players than can be very productive with the right linemates. I see Dach (if he fully recovers and comes back strong) as a key to our future forward group. I still think Dach may even become the 1A centre, and Suzuki the 1B. Roy is key young player that is probably the next prospect I come up. Too early to tell with the others. I’m HOPEFUL that Anderson’s productivity in Laval will finally translate at the NHL level, we don’t have anyone else from our young prospects playing on the team right now - so it’s to early to tell. if Slafkovsky doesn’t became a 30+ goal guy, than we will Be in trouble. I wonder if we had drafted Cooley instead of this year we would have taken a shot at Michkov?? It could be that they felt that they already rolled the dice on Slafkovsky on the previous draft to take another potential risk last year, so they went with the safer pick??? as far as the D, it’s too early to tell, but we do have a lot of lottery balls. I remember in the 80’s some said Kurvers would be become better than or just as good as Chelios. Never happened. Svoboda was supposed to be a first pairing dman, and while he was a good dman, never became a star. It’s too hard to say with young dman. I do hope Hutson becomes as dominant as higjes, Makar or Fox.
  24. I wouldn’t mind resigning Monohan, IF he stays healthy, AND is willing to sign a two year deal. I just don’t have much confidence in either of those being possible. I really hope Monohan stays healthy. Despise how much I despise the Flames, Monohan was always a guy I liked and had wished we were in a position to draft him back in the day.
