Most disappointing Habs' season?
johnnyhasbeen replied to The Chicoutimi Cucumber's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
1966-67 Lose to Toronto breaking up what should have been 5 in a row, to the friggin Leafs of all things. It doesn't get any worse than that although most of you weren't around I want you to think how that felt. We were the best. Had won two and were up against a much inferior Leaf team. We lost. Try going to school as a kid after that one. No other let down could ever be as bad as losing a final to the Leafs, Glad that is something my kids will never have to live through, or grand kids, or great grand kids, etc....... -
Why would any UFA go to a rebuilding team that plans to finish in the basement for the next few years? That is what I ask every TML fan in regards to Stamkos and none of them can answer. He would be a fool to go there. Maybe in 3-4 years I could see it. Also by my calculations Toronto added 2.5 million to their cap when they took on Ottawas 3 bad contracts in exchange for their 1 real bad one. I think the plan is to play those fringe guys from Ottawa and finish basement again next year. Stamkos would be counter productive and drive them near the cap with a real short roster.

2 months best in the NHL followed by 2 months worst in the NHL followed by... I am seeing a pattern develop. Problem being that by the pattern we will be dead cold again by the playoffs....... Fingers still crossed, first season with an open window, had a real bad go of it but all is not lost yet. Get in, Carey healthy by then, we could do it. Long shot but there is a chance.

Anything good on the tele tonight? Hoping to see the Habs skate like they did against Edmonton or else this one is over in the 1st. I am still trying to figure out which is the real team. The one from the first 2 months or the second 2 months. Would the real Montreal Canadiens please stand up..... I think we should have won more than we did during the drought but not won as many as we did while on a roll, so probably somewhere in between.

Cam Russell has done an amazing job in Halifax and will be in the NHL with a lucky team soon I would think.

For crying out loud SHUT CAREY Down
johnnyhasbeen replied to habs rule's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
It is the coaches fault, that is 100% true. Yes, we should shut Carey down and write the season off. It should all be about next season at this point. Funny how the team this year reminds me of 2011/12 habs that had an early lead every game, outplayed the other teams 80% of every game and yet found a way to lose almost every night. Next year, healthy Carey, new coach and gm, new free agents and a new top pick player. We will be a better team. Carey, go home and rest. We will see you in training camp. I have given up and taken a job at sea for 4 months. No worries about missing the parade this season. My bank account thanks you MT. -
Maybe the French media should hire a bilingual reporter to cover the Canadiens? Then that reporter would have no problem dealing with the coach and translating it for the Francophones who can't speak English,. Why should the team have to have a coach that can speak French? Montreal is a bilingual city in a bilingual nation. Time for the francos to get over it. Hire the best available. Let the press find a reporter that can do their job. Just seems to me good bilingual reporters are way easier to come by than bilingual coaches.

If he thinks it hurts now, wait until he is my age and has to stop half way upstairs until the knee is ready for the rest. Stupid knees. Blew mine at age 36 in nets. Never been the same, never will be. I just hope this is something that isn't going to end his career early. A goalie with a bad knee is not going to be of any use.

GDT Montreal Maple Leafs vs Buffalo

It is so hard to believe that in a season that we all had visions of Stanley we have resorted to tanking. Only makes sense now though. -

Agree, who came up with that new NHL.com design? How not to design a web page. As for the game, I have been patient far longer than most this year. Those who know me know I am usually not so patient or nice. I have passed my point of no return now and have joined the masses. Time to fire some people, like every single person that can be fired. GM, coaches, trainers, water boy, get rid of them all and find new ones. Give the jobs to high school kids. The result could not be any worse could it? Hey, is Bob Gainey around? Could he take over until the end of year as coach/gm? If I was Molson I would ask him that. -

If you want to see good hockey tonight, don't tune in to this game! -
Battle for the basement is on. Two of the top contenders for the lottery pick hit the ice tonight in an epic battle of pathetic shinny. Guy who should be stripped of C - Smurf - Waiver Bait Too Soft - Too Old - Brendan Gallagher Should've been Jager - Dead line trade - GSP would be better Getto - nobody - nobody Way too old - Bozo the Clown Phutz - Putrid AHL guy - Nobody Red Light Ben Mike Condon - Back up goalie(where he belongs) vs a whole lot of losers who actually hit the suck meter just as hard and also have nobody worth mentioning except Eichel

No thread started so my turn. Lineups are a bunch of guys that spent the last 2 months stinking out every rink they skated into against a team the has no business at all being ahead of them in the standings. Lineups? We don't need such a thing because it isn't like somebody is actually going to step up and play friggin hockey tonight. Yeah, that. -
Is the shinny over? Bettman's new money making idea. 3 on 3 NHL league, only have to pay half as many players! Way more profit! Higher goal scoring! WIN WIN WIN situation for NHL. Right? Forget MT and MB, fire Bettman before hockey is no longer the same game. JOHN SCOTT MVP!!!!!!

Simple fact, We need a goalie. Big time. The team is playing afraid. They start games at a high pace but as the game progresses and the score stays close they start trying not to lose instead of continuing to push. Then in the last few minurtes of the game they are once again flying in desperation. The team was winning playing high speed hockey 60 minutes a game and not worrying about turnovers. Feeling confident they would be backed up. We should not have gone after Scrivens. He is by far the worst goalie to ever wear the Habs Jersey. Any chance Marty Brodeur could be coxed out of retirement for a bit? That is where I would have looked as soon as Price was out for 8 weeks plus. We need a true NHL goalie in nets to establish confidence back in the attack. Nothing against Condon. He has done more than we could have hoped for and would have quite the record if he had only played the backup role he was meant to play this year.Toker was no worse than Scrivens, who I thought was the worst Leaf goalie in my life.

Ok. I agree would should have kept Semin....... So we could all be screaming to trade him or dump him now! Should have kept the scape goat until needed.
