  1. This has to be one of their better games played this year. The Blues are a tough team, especially at home and Montreal made them look bad. They forced tons of turnovers and didn't give up many solid scoring chances. This game could have easily been alot worse for the home team. When do the Habs start getting talked about being serious contenders?
  2. I just hope that the people that don't like this trade aren't the same people complaining about smurfs and getting pushed around. MB addressed a team need and it is going to cost in order to do so. There are plenty of skilled forward prospects in the system, but none like Smith-Pelly.
  3. It just seems like the Habs have an impenetrable wall built up of players blocking shots and then if a puck does get by, it has to beat Mr. Price. Good luck scoring opposing teams
  4. He is very much a coveted right handed, power forward with a good shot. In other words, exactly what we needed. And after watching MB talk about the trade, it was more about acquiring said player rather than shipping out a problem.
  5. Definitely surprised they moved Sekac, I don't think anyone seen him being traded in a 1 for 1 deal. This is move geared towards a playoff run and organizational needs. We needed to get more physical up front and also someone to slot in on the right side. Here is a quote from hockey's future that makes me feel better about it: "Smith-Pelly posted point-per-game junior numbers but his contribution was not measurable on the stat sheet. He played a big game, both literally and figuratively. A somewhat stocky player, Smith-Pelly earned a reputation as a strong player going to the net, battling along the boards and taking the body all over the ice. He also elevated his game in key situations."
  6. I look at the recent string of losses against crap teams, combined with excellent 3rd periods as a positive.....For whatever reason this team plays up or down to it's oppenent but yet can seemingly force it's will on their opponent when need be. They are human and know that a February game against Florida isn't the end the world, especially when they are in first place. Just wait till the playoffs when they bring it 100% On another note, let's trade for Bjugstad somehow
  7. Doesn't usually work out too well in the playoffs, that combined with lack of playoff experience. I know where I'll be putting my money come playoff time, hopefully I'll get favorable odds I went 7 for 8 in the first round the last two seasons and I plan on keeping it up
  8. I don't think they end up winning their division, which leaves them to play NY or Pitts....no sweat. Hell, even Washington or Boston would put them out. We see these feel good teams each and every year, and all too often they are bounced in the first round
  9. Not in the least. Especially since I don't think they come out of the first round
  10. Teams that worry me: Tampa, NYR, Washington Teams that don't worry me: the rest
  11. Lol who the hell are they? Remember when the Sens had too many goalies?
  12. If I am MB I do not trade Tinordi at this point. He is potentially the type of Dman that we have yearned for since I can remember. Just imagine him clearing the crease in front of Price and the opposition would think twice before taking a run at him. Carey needs to be protected.
  13. I don't see the Preds making it past the second round, just throwing that out there. And I will dig this thread up if that happens haha
  14. As enticing as Kessel sounds on the wing for the Habs, I shudder at the thought of getting ripped off down the road trading with our Canadian rivals. Whether it be whoever we send them becomes a star or Kessel starts to stink up the joint with his massive contract. That being said, he is pretty much exactly the type of player that we need.
  15. Yeah that is way too much for Eberle. Maybe something like Eller, Fucale and a prospect would make sense for both sides. I'm starting to have visions of Lupul wearing the bleu, blanc et rouge for some reason. How about Parenteau, Thomas and a pick to get er done
  16. With De La Rose slotted in at center on the 3rd line, you gotta believe they are seeing if he can fill in for Eller, making him expendable.
  17. Would like to pick up any one off of my wish list: Erik Johnson Justin Williams Jason Pominville Jaromir Jagr Adam Larsson Wayne Simmonds Cody Franson
  18. Personally I know next to nothing about advanced stats but it does seem like they are skewed a bit. Your example is similar to how these Habs play. They rarely ever just throw the puck on net or take low quality shots.
  19. Here we go again. Therrien has nothing to do with the success of Price, Subban and Crosby. But yet is at fault for the "lack" of development to other players. I think the proper way to look at the success of the players is by looking at how the TEAM is doing. It's not all about personal stats, it's about wins. From Therrien all the way to Bergevin to Molson, they have implemented a TEAM first concept. This is the best Habs TEAM in decades and I couldn't be happier
  20. I must say that it is very nice to not only have a plethora of prospects and picks in the system, but also cap space to be able to swing a deal. This is an exciting time Habs fans
  21. ban from forum please moderator. Haha jk but not really
