  1. I'm putting this here because nobody ever checks the fantasy forum. Since I won last year's pool, I set up one for this year. I figure with hockey back, it will be even easier to win. League ID: 95579 Password: hockeyisback It's on Yahoo, as usual.
  2. Congrats jetsniper and JeanLucPilon, the newest members of the 500 club. Btw, shortcat1, do you have a life? hehe
  3. No, hopefully he will be back before next week's game against the Habs, so he and Komi can be re-acquainted.
  4. Personally, I don't really like any of the new rules. What I do like, is that the refs are now calling the old rules, i.e. hooking and holding. I also like the re-institution of the tag-up offsides. As for the new rules, I don't like changing the game so drastically. What happens now if someone breaks Gretzky's records? An asterix? Under these rules in the 80s, just think what Wayne could have done!
  5. Hehe, you just happen to be the guy made that first post that really got a thread off track. When we notice a thread getting off track, we try to split it into two different threads, so we don't have threads about players turn into an argument over the price of tea in China, that kind of thing.
  6. http://www.habsworld.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=3778 This is the streaming video you likely heard about, but only Comcast users can get it.
  7. Hehe, that so-called misshapen runt wearing #51 was the the best player on the ice tonight.
  8. He doesn't even spell our team name correctly. How hard is it to realize they are the Montreal Canadiens, not the Canadians?
  9. http://www.comcast.net/sports/vito/ I am irate. Comcast finally made a press release about streaming video, and it is only available to people who have Comcast as their ISP. This is STUPID! Only 7.7 million people in the US use Comcast, and OLN is not standard on many cable packages. And they are streaming at least 3 Habs games in October. CRAP!
  10. Talk to dlbalr, he has last year's version of the game I believe. Basically, it's the same thing as our EHM, except more updated, nicer looking, etc. Also, instead of simply simming games, I think you have to watch each game be playd out by the computer, while you make coaching decisions. Essentially, simply a more advanced version of what we use in HWL.
  11. Ok, when OLN and the NHL announced their partnership for the upcoming seasons, part of the deal they mentioned was that they were going to have live, streaming video of 2 games every night. Now, however, I cannot find anything about this. I've tried contacting OLN and Comcast, but my emails have been ignored. A friend called OLN and the customer service rep had no idea about any such thing. Does anyone know anything about this?
  12. HOLY CRAP! Jake Peavy is one of the NL's best pitchers!
  13. I played Winning Eleven 7 I think, and it didn't have the liscences for players and teams from anywhere, which I think sucks. Also, for some reason, the Winning Eleven game doesn't appear to come out in the US until January.
  14. I agree that Atlanta is not a real contender in the NL, and the Padres will be lucky to win one game (if they win again, it will be because of Jake Peavy). The Astros, however, I think have a chance to surprise people. When you've got Clemens, Oswalt, and Pettitte starting the games and Lidge in the bullpen, anything can happen. Cardinals are obviously the favorites. As for the AL, the White Sox slumped in the 2nd half and I don't think they have a chance. The Angels are good, but their pitching is a little inconsistent. The Red Sox have hitting, but their entire pitching staff is a question mark. The Yankees are in a similar situation, but they at least have a proven closer. Boston only makes the World Series if Schilling steps up his game.
  15. Favorite Actors: Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Sean Connery Favorite Actresses: Keira Knightley, Jessica Alba, though none really jump out at me for consistently being in movies I like Favorite Movies: Star Wars (Primarliy the original trilogy, but also the ones I like), Backdraft, Rudy, Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, Rudy, Pirates of the Carribean, Field of Dreams, Signs, and Braveheart are the ones that come to mind first. Favorite Directors: Spielberg used to be good. George Lucas has amazing movies, but his directing isn't the best. M. Night Shymalan is usually good. (PS: I HATE Tarantino.) 16. Red Sox over White Sox in 3. Yankees over Angels in 5. Cardinals over Padres in 4. Astros over Braves in 5. Red Sox over Yankees in 7. Cardinals over Astros in 4. Cardinals over Red Sox in 5. EDIT: First round is still best of 5 games. Did another sport recently change the first round from best of 5 to best of 7? [Edited on 10-4-05 by Fanpuck33]
  17. Jan Hrdina is slated to be the #1 center, playing with Nash and Vyborny. Personally, I have no idea where Brule will fit. I would think they want Fritsche on the 3rd line, so they probably won't want two rookies on the third line. They brought in Hrdina specifically to center the first line from what I've heard. And putting Brule on the 4th line doesn't make any sense. [Edited on 10-4-05 by Fanpuck33]
  18. With or without Brule, the Blue Jackets are going to be contenders for a late playoff spot. They made great UFA signings with Berard and Foote, and with Nash and Zherdev still coming into their own, things are looking up for the Jackets. With a decent team in front of him, Marc Denis will finally put up some good numbers. Brule might take Marchant's spot as the #2 center, but that seems unlikely to me. He was a solid scorer in juniors, but most of the scouting reports I heard concentrated more on his edge than his scoring. I think he'll contribute offensively, but I don't think he will be an offensive force.
  19. What's better is that he calls the Leafs UFA signings "blind faith" and that their D has holes, and questions Belfour's effectiveness. He basically says the only thing Leafs fans should be excited about is the progression of youngsters like Stajan. Did I mention he picked the Leafs to finish 5th?
  20. Thread closed. We are getting sick of the name calling and racial stereotyping going on here lately. It's unacceptable.
  21. There is Crosby/Brule publicity? That's interesting, I haven't heard a single word about Brule vs. Crosby. The publicity is squarely upon the shoulders of Crosby. As for Brule's upside, I think the Jackets would be quite happy if he turned out like Darcy Tucker. With playmakers like Nash and Zherdev up front, they need a scrappy third liner who can mix it up while adding some points.
  22. I hope they aren't bringing him in for a 10 game tryout in place of the injured Rick Nash. I was really hoping to see Nash when I go to the home opener on Friday. I haven't seen him live since his rookie season.
  23. Come on, you don't run up 300+ PIM a year by not being tough. That's a lot of fighting each and every season, and it has never slowed him down. Size doesn't matter as long as he can hold his own in a fight. Look at Tie Domi. I'd say he's one of the better enforcers of the 90s, and he's 5-11 and not much more than 200 pounds. And how about Kasparaitis? He's the same size as Vandermeer and he's been known throughout his career as one of the best checkers around. Barnaby is yet another tough guy about the same size as Vandermeer. Anyways, here's my lines: Zednik-Koivu-Kovalev Perezhogin-Ribeiro-Ryder Bulis-Bonk-Higgins Plekanec-Begin-Sundstrom Markov-Komisarek Souray-Dandenault Streit-Rivet Theo Danis Press-box: Ivanans, Dagenais, and Boullion. I don't think they would have kept Perezhogin to be a spare player, and he's not a good fit on the 3rd/4th line. Therefore, I think he'll play on the 2nd line. They already know what they can get from Dags, so if Perezhogin doesn't work out, Dags can step in and shoot some pucks. As for Streit over Boullion, that's a toss up. I've never seen Streit play, but he sounds pretty decent. [Edited on 10-3-05 by Fanpuck33]
