I'm glad we won but that third period meltdown was not pretty. I am still fuming over that lazy Koivu penalty and nearly shit my pants when he was on the ice for the last 30 seconds of the game. Get it together Saku. -

Has Koivu been benched? I haven't seen him since that brutal penalty he took. If so, he deserves it. What a dumb, selfish, blatant penalty. -

I am so impressed with this game. Things may be different if Alfredson and Heatly were playing, perhaps we will find out in the playoffs. If Koivu and Higgins ever remember how to score this team will be seriously dangerous. It might be worth the experiment to see how switching Koivu and Lapierre would work out. -

That is a fair division of the responsibility. -

That was some very entertaining hockey. I don't think the Ottawa goal was Cube's fault. Huet put him in a very difficult position with that pass. I can't believe the pace to the game. It sure is fun to watch. -

What a frigging goal!!!!!!! The pace to this game is insane so far. -
Gainey given permission to speak to Hossa's agent. Per the Team 1200 in Ottawa, Murray Wilson (commentator for the Habs on CJAD, former player) apparently said that Don Waddell gave Bob Gainey permission to speak with Hossa's agent, Don Baizley...probably regarding a contract extension. I was just at HF and saw this. If true then WOW! http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=474364

Put hockeybuzz in to google and you will find Eklund. Not very credible but he is entertaining.

I think when Brisebois is healed he will replace Streit on the blueline. Streit will move to third line wing and little Kostitsyn will replace Ryder on the first line. Ryder will be traded or benched. How can anyone not love Ovechkin? He does everything and does it well. He was throwing some serious body checks last night, skating, scoring, working, digging in the corner for the puck and all with a freshly broken nose. Alex Ovechkin is definitely the Hart trophy winner. -
Trading Ryder makes sense. He is an unlikely returning UFA and he is not scoring. Replacing Ryder with a guy that can score a few goals just makes sense. We really don't have to give up anything of big time value to the Habs to do this IMO.

Keith Tkatchuk would be a perfect fit for that line. I'm not sure what the asking price would be though.

Do we really need our 2008 first pick ?
Prime Minister Koivu replied to JoeLassister's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Detroit seems to be doing a fine job of drafting with late picks. -
NHL All Star Game/Skills Competition
Prime Minister Koivu replied to Trizzak's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
The whole thing was pretty boring. There must be a way to make it more exciting. I would rather see the NHL all stars vs. the Russian Super League all stars or something like that. -

I missed the first period because I thought it was a 7:30 game so I tuned in at 7:40 when the puck would drop and it was intermission From the two periods I did see I was really happy. I think Smoke has finally found his place on this team. This is two games in a row with Begin and Kostopolous where he was creating chances and even scoring goals. Koivu has played better the last two games and last night he showed some jump and drive. We haven't seen that for a while. Hopefully he will be a beast for the rest of the season. The Kostitsyns are so much fun to watch. These guys are going to be gems for us for years to come. They are not only talented but they have some fire and don't shy away from getting dirty. I love Gorges. He makes mistakes but the guy is balls to the wall out there. I hope he stays with the Habs and gets regular ice time. We beat Jersey! :hlogo: -

I am excited too. That game was fun to watch. Everyone looked good and you could tell that the players were having fun out there. 6 points out of first! Kovalev - WOW Kostitsyns - WOW New Jersey. That is our test. -
Habs need to work on Final Minutes Drill!
Prime Minister Koivu replied to Habsfan84's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Come on! Saying that Koivu has stunk up the joint for the last while is not bashing him. It is the truth. I don't think that is unreasonable or extreme in any way. Most people here don't take that opinion of Koivu's performance over the last while and equate that to he sucks and should be traded or stripped of the "C". I love Koivu, look at my name! That doesn't mean I can't have an honest look at him. Am I out in left field here? -
Jokinen would be just perfect for us but who do we have to deal? It would take something like: Higgins, Chipchura, a minor leaguer and a first. Can we afford to give up that much?

Prime Minister Koivu replied to Habsfan84's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
It is funny but true. Saying anything negative about Huet will get Brobin in to a serious tizzy. Even stating a fact will not be tolerated! Koivu is much the same with some other posters. I do not subscribe to the idea that Koivu is the reason that this team has sucked for the last 10+ years but I do see that he is slipping. Brutal play by Mr. K. for the last while and last night he was the worst of all time. Third line duties or press box please. -

Prime Minister Koivu replied to Habsfan84's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Koivu stunk last night. He wasn't just in his slump but he out right sucked. He has been playing this poorly for the last 7 or 8 games. He can't hold on to the puck at all, he can't make a good pass, he can't skate. I don't know what is wrong with him right now but perhaps Carbo should give him some rest. -
Game Day Thread Canadiens @ Thrashers
Prime Minister Koivu replied to JMMR's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Huet played great. Forget about his adventure in to the corner, we all knew how that would turn out. He has played fairly well but it is time for Halak to get a start. Too many games in a row for Huet leads to a brutal game. Halak vs. Pittsburg please. -
Higgins back with Koivu starting tonight!
Prime Minister Koivu replied to SAKS-AVENUE's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
I wonder if Carbo will make another "good solid decision" and break up the slowest line in hockey? Lats - Smoke - Ryder What a waste of a line. -

Prime Minister Koivu replied to Cataclaw's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
We always suck against the Rangers for some reason. I was flipping between a very exciting football game, a very exciting Ottawa and Detroit match up and a not so fun to watch habs game. Forget the score, Ottawa dominated Detroit. -
I think the point is kind of mute. I really don't think that America is ready to vote for a woman or an african american as president. Republicans will win again. It doesn't matter who the republican candidate will be or if you believe that the republican party is in meltdown.
