  1. Suzuki. I think Suzuki thought Xhekaj was going to slow up at the line, saucered it through Xhekaj's legs
  2. Unfortunately, rookie Juraj Slafkovsky didn't practice on Monday. He was slated to undergo medical tests related to the upper-body injury that forced him to miss the Dallas game. We could get an update on Slafkovsky's condition from head coach Martin St-Louis after the morning skate. - NHL.com

  4. I’m not sure it’s much of a question really. Edmundson - Matheson Guhle - Savard Xhekaj - Harris Kovacevic i think Wideman is the odd man out, Harris plays both LD and RD. With Edmundson returning, you can manage Xhekaj’s minutes a little better, but I like what he brings to the team.
  5. I think the best case scenario of the trade was to get the 1st round pick, Monahan establishes himself as a top-6 forward again, trade him at the deadline for the best possible package. Worse case scenario was they get the 1st, Monahan doesn’t establish himself as an NHL player anymore and he walks in free agency because nobody would give up anything to acquire him. I honestly don’t think resigning him was or is in the plan. I don’t think anything other than a great performance and the willingness to sign a cheap contract would have him signed in Montreal for the rebuild.
  6. I'm not sure if Monahan is an answer at center regardless of the situation. He's 28 now and will be in his early 30's before the team really becomes possibly contenders. For one, I'm not sure he wants to stay around for that. Secondly, if he has any form or production turnaround, he'll be far more valuable as a trade chip. By the time Montreal is ready for contention, Monahan will probably be available via free agency or trade, and the cost should be less than what he fetched this season being traded. If that's even the guy they want at that point. As for Dach, they must of saw something somewhere that warranted the steep price they paid for him. The 13th overall pick and a 3rd round is a steep price to pay for a 21 year old seemingly on decline towards a 3rd/4th line role. Granted, it was a weaker draft year, so the picks were worth less in theory. Dach still is 21, a lot of players don't have 2 seasons under their belt at that point like he does. He also does show flashes of a solid player.
  7. He isn't, but he's the most at fault. Can't come in to cover a guy and skate away from him as he's getting the puck.
  8. As useless as Drouin is in his own zone, he's not as bad as Dadanov is like everywhere.
  9. So refs didn't call the slashing call on Suzuki, the direct result of that was that loose stick broke up a partial breakaway and an injury to Gallagher by stepping on the stick. A missed penalty doesn't affect the game? Also, why didn't the linesman pick up the stick once the play went to the Montreal's zone for the 3 on 2? It is their job.
  10. With how physical Dallas is being, you can see Xhekaj is just looking to annihilate someone.
  11. This injury may be a good thing if it's only minor. Keeps him out of the lineup to sit in the press box and watch the game instead of just being put in the press box due to back or lack of performance. Completely different view and experience of the game to learn from.
  12. Slafkovsky's first! EDIT: Added a video of it for record keeping purpose.
  13. American Thanksgiving is usually the earliest date where teams start making decisions according to their standings. Typically it's a good indication of where a team will finish in the season. It's not perfect, or a sure thing, but a strong indication.
  14. Unless he's like top-10 in points, or wants a reasonable contract, he'll fetch a nice prospect and/or pick at the deadline.
  15. I thought on a waiver claim, the season of the claim the team who waived the player was on the hook for 50% of the salary and cap?
  16. A lot of rebounds are ending up about 3-5 feet from the front of Pittsburgh's net. There's never anyone there to get it. Also, that penalty call on Xhekaj was weak at best.
  17. Dadanov is looking at option B right now if he doesn't improve. Getting sent to Laval. It's not something that will happen right away, but if he doesn't improve, I could see at the 15 game mark it could be a possibility. Montreal clears just over $1m off their cap hit, $2.5m if he gets claimed.
  18. Lucky break on that post. How is Dadanov this bad? Like, how did he get a $5m contract being this bad??
  19. So the Habs have Drouin ($5.5m), Hoffman ($4.5m) and Dadonov ($5m) all not playing good enough to have a spot in the lineup. At least 2 of those deals are in their final year. If Hoffman can get going so at least he’s trade-able, that would be great.
  20. I haven’t kept up with the rule changes, but isn’t it a penalty for pulling the helmet off of a player? They have to goto the bench if they lose their helmet, so there must be a penalty associated with pulling the helmet off.
  21. Not sure if anyone else caught that, but on the Hoffman slashing penalty, Carlson threw his stick down. He wouldn’t of lost it from the slash alone, so he sold it. Should have been an embellishment call, but I wouldn’t expect a ref to catch it, I had to rewind it 3 times.
  22. I think mentally is the most important. Once he gets his groove and figures out what he can and cannot do at an NHL level, he can lean into his strengths and I still think he could be a solid stay at home defenseman. Maybe a second coming of Hal “skills” Gil.
  23. The virtual board ads got turned off during the PP because they were bugging out pretty bad.
