  1. Could be best place for him (even for a short stint), but Bergevin first would need to admit the extension was bit wacky and way too long a deal and that may not ever happen? Nygren with 7 points in 9 games, is he possibly going to get a look if Diaz or Boullion get banged up? Boullion on the PP isn't a great option and Nygren's shot would likely result in some more offense. But, can he defend at NHL level yet?
  2. Nice to see Nygren and Beaulieu spark their PP and Nygren had 6 shots.
  3. I guess he might add more than Blunden or Leblanc but ?? and those two (and most of NHL) are alot better defensively, so other than depth and playoff experiance he might not be of much use. But if he is ready, he will be in lineup and he did only play 8 games so who knows, could be a slow starter and isnt totally washed up yet?
  4. Yes I am with you, to toss book at the gutless shoves from behind, late hits, childish fighters, cross checks to the neck, kneeing etc. But to go overboard on a solid check, with no "flying" Craig Ludwig-type elbow, in open ice, 1st time offender, just seems unfair. And I am not a fan of Parros-Shelley-Scott type players one bit (and think they will be gone from the game once the old timers are gone and will be a better game), but fair is fair and 3-5 games for repeat offenders drilling guys into the boards, how can 7 be justified? The guy with puck had to of known he was coming across the ice (Scott is hard to miss and fellow Bruins should of yelled a warning at least, maybe just happened too fast?), same as when I saw Geoffrion get smoked, all could see d-man backing across the ice lining him up (a la Subban), watching the play I assumed Geoffrion was going to try and avoid him, but he simply was more focused on puck, thought he sneak by him, misjudged and hit went horribly wrong. Subban best be prepared for similar type injuries on apposing forwards, with the way goes for the huge hit almost every game, sooner or later he will catch a smaller player completely unaware and will turn ugly. And all are lucky Chara never ran around looking for hits like that (Pacioretty hit aside) or he would leave a trail of destruction as bad as or much worse than Scott Stevens did. But it is a contact sport and all know that when signing up to play and if don't keep your head up, your at high risk of a lot of pain.
  5. How frickin many Habs are Olympic bound? 31-30 79-74 76-61 14 81 67-27 1/2 the team possibly?
  6. A bit over the top bud. When did the official roster get posted? I missed that press release. 17 d-men at summer camp, PK was one of them if I recall correctly? Of those 17, 9-10 of them will be shit out of luck and watching games from a beach in Florida or Cuba, but I think PK will be in Russia. And is almost comical the reaction one Toronto media comment gets from Hab fans.
  7. Too bad for Scott, I know many like to say he is a goon and deserves it, but 7 games for simply overpowering a guy with his head down, in open ice just is crazy for a 1st time offender. But 2 (or several) sets of rules for different type of players and again NHL shows it bush league highly subjective tendencies.
  8. sure, just seems many expect a player to be X and if dosent play like X they say WTF, he is a bum/bust (like with a Diaz, no one said he a super fit as a top 4 d-man this early in his NHL career), when it was unrealistic expectation fan(s) had that is more the issue.
  9. Right on, once I realized he was gonna be a UFA, I was hoping he would get signed ASAP Just super to see all locked up
  10. What is concern? Him going to AHL and playing more would not hurt him one bit. But he simply is doing too well and DD would likely be waived and demoted before 49 ever is.
  11. I thought I recently heard Chelios has since said, he wanted out of Montreal at the time, due to constant criticism and team leadership set-up? So was either trade or lose him and was going leave one way or other.
  12. White still leads Habs regulars in PIMs, good on faceoffs and taking important defensive zone ones (with Eller moving to wing), 4th in forward PK time, but only playing 10minutes/game. So if he is overrated, I think you simply have too high expectations from a 4th line centre (I would also guess is being kept on a short leash by coachs)?
  13. Cant see Habs making any deals in near future and Oil didn't bother drafting any goalies this year, so doubt they now want a kid who will be in junior for 2 more years? And trading a French goalie prospect wouldn't make the locals very happy at all; unless, David Perron was part of deal, which may be very interesting addition for Habs?
  14. I think you don't need to say "may" and Olympics is a negative for Habs season, other than padding career resume and national pride for several of them; which some will say is good enough reason for them to go. I kinda hope Luongo, Crawford and Mike Smith stand on their heads for next 2 months, but if Price deserves to go, great for him, hope he does well and I will cheer him on and pull for another gold like everyone else.
  15. Reway had another 3 point game, 10 points in last 5 games and Gregoire chipped in another goal and 7th in Q scoring. Thrower with GWG, now just 1 goal shy of last years' total (6) and on better pace than his 18 goal 11-12 season, great to see; whereas Bozon has struggled with new team and coach demoted him to 4th line for a bit to try and light a fire under his ass and commentators said Kootenay coach had "he has a lot to learn, needs to play the right way" type comments, so not good sign (but only been 3 games). Bozon was pretty invisible in yesterdays game and he was -2 on Red Deer 3 goals. Seems been a while, but at least 1 Scandinavian prospect scored, de la Rose got 3rd goal. Fucale (numbers wise) has sucked last couple games and now with.894 save% for season (but respectable W-L and GAA).
  16. But irrelevent as Oilers nor Habs are doing that deal and Toews aint going anywhere! All i was trying to point out is that, there are deals that can be made for Subban. If you would prefer Toews & Kane for PK, there you go, a deal Bergevin would do (not realistic but) I think Eberle is easily best OIler and Hopkins i also like very much and I would make that deal in a second, but again it aint happening cept in fantasyland.
  17. Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins for PK Morin & B Schenn for PK Toews & Saad for PK So are options that Bergevin would consider, unrealistic but some team may offer a lot? 0.1% chance he is gong anywhere, but who knows, GMs can make some odd choices? And as they say, if #99 can get traded...
  18. Got to assume Subban gets $50-64m deal ($7-8m/year). Yemelin will get a raise, but how much ($4m/year-5 years?) Even if wanted to resign Markov, will there be room and what might he want, 2year @ current salary? If not, will create another hole in top 4, with the 2-3 kids filling 3rd pairing.
  19. Is there a better d-pair in the NHL than Markov-Subban? Weber-Jones maybe almost as good? With those 2 on the ice together, good stuff happens. Bournival 2nd on team with a +5, 7points in 10 games with 12minutes ice time, the kid is doing vey well. A good sign to have Holland go to Hamilton, hopefully Pacioretty is returning? Murray had another solid game and is throwing body around very well Hopefully Emelin knee heals quicker than Markov's did in 11-12 season, any word on his rehab status?
  20. wrist injuries seem be one pain in ass to heal properly, hopefully nothing too major? Hamilton could use Thomas's offense and will be very interesting to see how he does, or more how NHL ready he is?
  21. 29 blocked shots, that is impressive Diaz critics silenced for a minute; DD still snakebit but seems to be "trying".
  22. Caught a bit of it and yes he said Emelin is likely first d-man to get done even though he is currently injured, but didn't hear if talks yet or much else? I hope so, you know what kind of player he is and you know the Habs want to keep him, so maybe can get a deal by signing while injured and risk he will come back 100%?
  23. I wouldnt assume all d-men playing now will remain healthy and seems can never have too many d-men. But if all do stay healthy, a cheap offensive d-man who may help someone's PP, could be of value to a struggling team lacking offense (like Nash., NJ, Philly?)
  24. Yes of course, I had thoughts of maybe Souray-Mara-Ludwig and drew a blank on 74, must of been too obvious for me maybe? I wonder how soon he will be back, just couple weeks hopefully?
  25. Holland almost got 10minutes and seems to be gaining coach's confidence. So seems coach's are being conservative, letting him gain more confidence, while still playing sheltered minutes and some PK time. Seems a good recipe to me and he still is just a temp fill-in for couple more weeks. Therrien has really surprised me so far, I have few complaints and is unlike Martin who just seemed so dour most of time.
