  1. I wonder hoe much the pandemic affected the capacity of evaluating teenagers leading to their junior years and juniors. Florian may be one of those kids that was not in most scouts radar and that maybe why he dropped. I am just surprised when I see him go on a scoring spree.
  2. Laval vs Toronto , tonight at 7PM https://theahl.com/stats/game-center/1025875 I am curious to see how Kidney does at center, he has not been that visible on the wing (the few games that I've watched). I also wonder if Mysak can do better with Davidson, and Bourque. That's not a good line... poor kid.
  3. I am a bit more cautious in trying to guess how the younger Wifi ((Bluetooth?) may develop. But I like the points you are making. Skating is still a big part of the equation for success, but your analysis is very interesting that is why I was bot so high as others on Caufield, and buy a I glad he is proving me wrong
  4. I do not buy into the opinion that Xhekaj is a goon. I believe that he is in the same vein as Anderson and Brady Tkachuk where he is intense and has the body type to push through the other team. I believe that playing lots of minutes in all kind of situations is the way for him to learn to stay out of the penalty box. Like Weber-like Ds, having the physicality in his toolbox makes him a great player to keep in the lineup
  5. we agree on this, that is what I am saying in different words
  6. I would be happy with someone like Noah Cates: https://lastwordonsports.com/hockey/2023/07/10/noah-cates-inks-new-contract-after-solid-rookie-season-with-philadelphia-flyers/
  7. I poster a few days ago that I would trade the young LD that fetches the best return. Xhekaj and Guhle included if the player coming back improves the prospect of a cup run in the future. I just don’t want to relive the fan snarky reaction if it turns out like the Sergachev deal. I do not want to relive that episode
  8. I forgot the suspension. I was wondering the same yesterday.
  9. Pearson is pending UFA, they should trade him if they can get anything in return instead of loosing him for nothing. Ylonen is a pending RFA, and Stephens, Xhekaj, Norlinder and Barron are up for contracts too. They may be willing to move any of them instead of signing them to a new contract if they can get something more suitable/fitting for the team's plans. Sometimes teams prefer to trade RFAs so that they new team can sign them under their terms.
  10. I think Hughes is an outstanding amateur hockey evaluator and able to project players' future better than anyone the Habs have had in two decades... maybe more I think that the current state of the Habs rebuild allows him to be patient on trades, and that has allowed him to get great value on most trades. I am not sure how he will do under pressure, but it is looking promising. I think Gorton is a good staff evaluator, able to hire the right people for roles. I am not sure how good he is with regards to talent evaluation, I have not been paying attention to the videos the Habs media has shared because they are heavily edited: hard to tell how much is a setup adn how much is real. the future of the rebuild is looking good so far, the present (on the ice) is what was expected
  11. And Condotta going back to Laval. It is about to get interesting for the Rocket now that they squandered the opportunity to up in the AHL standings Fun stuff
  12. he is waiver eligible, and Anthony Marcotte was quoting André Savard as saying that he believed that Gignac would get picked up by an NHL team, if not this season then next. He is having a great season in the AHL
  13. Kapanen is a "dark horse" prospect, IMHO, much like Struble.
  14. They did, giving Newhook the extra time; it they also granted my wish of signing Gignac to a two way deal. He will be stuck in Montreal for the rest of the year unless they do not think he would risk being snatched on waivers
  15. looks like Galaga, the arcade game, doesn’t it? added
  16. I am very happy for Gignac, I've been mentioning him as the most deserving center in Laval that should be rewarded with a recall.
  17. what a lost opportunity... damned penalties!
  18. I haven't checked TOI for these three (Struble, Harris, Xhekaj) lately, but to me: whoever can effectively play over 18min a game and provide some offence is a lock on the second pair. If Hutson it is, then great, but he is far from reaching that level. In the meantime we have Matheson to eat LD minutes. At this moment I consider Struble, Harris, Xhekaj as trade chip like Romanov was. Whoever ca get the return the Habs need to improve the forwards, that is whom should be traded.
  19. I may have missed it in previous posts, by why $64k ? Why not the $765k question?
  20. Out of the centers on expiring contracts he is the closest to the value to Rostolvic. CBJ gets a bit more offensive and an actual winger at lower cap. mince pickings
  21. To CBJ: Tanner Pearson ($3.25M/pending UFA) To MTL: Jack Rostolvic ($4.00M/pending UFA) Habs get someone who has played center in the past Jackets get a winger for a player that was playing the wing.
