I wouldn't take "The Hockey Guys" prospect evaluation based on that, they missed the mark
-
Would you resign Galchenyuk to center the 3rd line?

to close this thread, I would like to add that I would PTO Chucky to training camp this year and offer him a two-way deal if he proves he can play 3C at the NHL level. I liked how much energy he showed in his AHL games against Laval and his NHL games against Montreal. He is not washed up yet, and may be worth a try for nostalgia's sake -

2020-21 Laval General Discussion Thread

yellow is for prospects, grey is for depth and black for AHL fillers -
thanks for clarifying. yes, Evans will probably be overmatched in games against powerhouse teams like TBL, BOS, etc but he played really well in the playoffs and didn't look out of place. I would wait until training camp to assess how well he projects to play. I think the Habs have sufficient depth as it is at centre
-
that first season, Kotkaniemi was the best centre available to play 3C in the NHL. McCarron, Audette, Weal were still around. deLaRose lost to waivers. Thompson could not have played 3C Habs were stuck, and MB decided not to trade prospects to improve the team. Prospect that at the time included Suzuki, Poehling, Romanov, Norlinder
-
I like your line up, even if different than mine. Let's hope Poehling wins that spot, that would be awesome for the Habs
-
hogwash. Habs were not anymore exposed than Vancouver, Buffalo, Ottawa and others with pending RFAs With Tatar leaving, Hoffman is a sensible addition, specially since he performs better in the playoffs.
-
agreed, that would be great for Poehling; it also aligns with the contract he just signed
-
that comparison would have meaning if we had traded KK for Dvorak, but we did not Danault at 21 (2014-2015) only played 2 games, 0 points FO 30%
-
you like hyperbole in your posts... overmatched? it depends against which teams. Suzuki's MAJOR responsibilities? not anymore than last year... Jake Allen last year's stats are close to Jesperi Kotkaniemi's stats, although at a lower PPG (.28 vs .36) but also with worse wingers. Evans should match KK's production from last year, and have a much better FO% and goals against than KK. % of expected goals should be on par or better if he plays with Toffoli and Gallagher. Evans may or may not replace KK's number from last year, but he is no pushover if Evans is not up to the task, there may be a trace if Evans cannot win a spot

I just have an imperfect picture. I am not sure who is signed to AHL conttacts. 1. percentages in front of payer's name is likelihood of making the NHL based on draft position 2. W means waiver aligible, E means waiver exempt. some have a 'year for until when they are 3. number just before name is age -
Drouin has not given interview yet. He made a comment during his golf tournament that he would e ready to play centre if the tam needed him to. He did not claim he was going to do it.
-
with this trade, the Habs have adequately replaced and improved on Danault. They did not lose any prospect, got an extra draft pick (3rd). And only look weaker on D from the loss of Weber. They may still make the playoffs and surprise They have salary cap room and trade chips to improve the team
-
I have a different lines: Scoring line: Hoffman-Suzuki-Caufield Secondary scoring: Drouin-Dvorak-Anderson Two-way line: Toffoli-Evans-Gallagher Energy line: Lehkonen-Paquette-Armia Dea, Perrault Edmundson-Petry Chiarot-Savard Romanov-Wideman Kulak PP1: Hoffman-Suzuki-Caufield Drouin-Petry PP2: Anderson-Dvorak-Gallagher Toffoli-Wideman
-
agreed, I like this trade. Cup window still open a bit more than with KK

NHL, players agree to return to Olympics in 2022, 2026

We’ll have time to talk about Mailloux’s re-insertion into the OHL to fill those weeks and the latest recovery reports on Byron and Weber 🤪 🥴 -
exactly! Most on this forum are not convinced Kotkaniemi is a legit 2C on a cup contending team

first, thank you for reading my post; and second, let me clarify it. with the addition of SEA, there are less centres available in the league. Demand is high and trade value up. You are right in your estimate of what it used to take to trade for a 3C, except this off-season. On the overpayment... let's see who we have on the top 9 that may be a trade chip (I'll remove Suzuki, Caufield): Hoffman, Drouin, Anderson, Toffoli ,Evans, Gallagher all fine wingers and a good 4C, but no 2C. Trading any of these, a 1st and a "filler" should get us a 2C on a previous year. This off-season, given the Habs' situation, they will probably need to overpay I do not know what it will take, but I am posting my best guesses.
