If the Habs offersheet for one of these centres for about 5.5M-$6.1M, they loose their 1st round pick and their third; but gain a decent centre back without loosing picks in the 2022 draft: Elias Pettersson, Casey Mittelstadt the Habs could offer sheet for these players, for less than $4.1M (second draft pick lost) Nolan Patrick, Logan Brown

Gosh! Darn Carolina Huricanes!!!! You had to mess up with MY line-up proposal

I was off internet for a while and I come back to THIS! How interesting, with the 2022 draft in Montreal next year, I would take the 1st and 3rd pick and walk away from Kotkaniemi. His performance this year was already the maker/breaker for the Habs to be in the playoffs, and I much rather take the picks than to go into the season riding on an unproven 21 year old. I agree with you, the extra picks and the prospect pool depth at LD gives the Habs an opportunity to upgrade their 2C and to take a gamble at 3C with Dea, Poehling, Perrault or whoever can fill that hole for one season. I think Kotkaniemi was already playing well at the 3C level, but his low FO% numbers and tendency to "fall like bambi all over the ice" and lack of extra gear makes it easier to accept him leaving. The fact that he signed the $20 bonus offer sheet shows that he doesn't give a f*ck

your line-up and what I had proposed are very close. I have been looking at potential center upgrades and I am now comfortable with this updated lineup (highlighted are differences with yours): Scoring line: Hoffman-Suzuki-Caufield "Show me" line: Drouin-Kotkaniemi-Anderson Two way line: Toffoli-Evans-Gallagher Energy line: Lehkonen-Paquette-Armia Perrault, Dea Proven top-pair: Edmundson-Petry "Rock 'n' Sock Connection": Chiarot-Savard and a strng 3rd pair: Romanov-Wideman Kulak Price Allen PP1 Hoffman-Suzuki-Caufield Drouin-Petry PP2 Anderson-Kotkaniemi-Gallagher Toffoli-Wideman Notes: Paquette has very good FO% numbers and with Lehkonen and Armia he should win many faceoffs as they are both strong in puck pursuit and protection. Evans has better PPG numbers (16/60, 0.27ppg) than Paquette (93/424, 0.22ppg) but over much less time. Since Evans is still progressing and Paquette seems to be past his peak; Evans is slotted at 3C and Paquette at 4C Habs lineup is stronger than last year's, with a declining Tatar eing replaced by Hoffman and an improved Suzuki replacing a declining Danault. More scoring depth and decent D pairs. what we may loose in Weber's absence we gain in better bottom pair defensemen. The powerplay seems to be better (on paper) If Suzuki and Kotkaniemi peorforms at the same level as last year, or they improve!, the Habs will make the playoffs.

Yes, I think we all get it now. My take on the value of “the asset” comes from what Chantal Machabée said in 98.5 fm (Habs French radio broadcaster) after the weird media scrum with Geoff Molson. The conclusion was that Mailloux will never play for the Habs

thanks for clarifying @Commandant happy trails
-
no, just that discussing that topic got Commandant banned and we have not seen him since. I enjoy this forum and I will avoid the topic (that got him banned) as much as I can
-
yes, I think it was @dlbalr posted that it would be either a hicher AHL salary with the cheapest NHL salary of an increase of the NHL salary
-
I am guessing that will be the opinion of many, if not most, on this forum Within the Quebequer fan base that is definitely not the case I have a personal preference J do not want to share because I do not want to be banned from this forum... as far as my trade proposal goes, I am really happy with it

The only comment on Habs 2021 1st round I’ll make is that I believe that he is only a trade chip and that he will never play for the Habs based on the French media coverage on the week following the draft, that is what I believe
-
that is a very good contract for the Habs!

Looking at hockey trades, I came up with this one: To MTL: Chytil ($2.3M/2yr) and 2nd draft pick in 2022 To NYR, Poehling(waiver exempt) & either Mailloux(RD) or J.Olofsson(C) This gives Montreal a 3C with NHL experience, solidifies the center position. Chytil was viewed as a reach by NYR, slotted in the second round by most. NYR seems to be high on Morgan Barron who seems to be ready to step in to a bottom 6 role in 2021-2022 This gives the NYR a waiver exempt center so that they can decide to play either Barron or Poehling. It gives them alternatives when looking to resign Zibanejad or Strome and depending who they accept in the trade (Mailloux or J.Olofsson) they gain prospect depth where they are thin.

Would you resign Galchenyuk to center the 3rd line?

You are right, it is wishful thinking that is why I am sure a trade is coming -

Koivu was the perferct 2C, Pleks was the perfect 3C, Danault was the perfect 3C, the Habs have had centres playin gout of their ideal spot for years. Until Poehling or his replacement takes on the 3C, Evans is our best bet -
Where does Anisimov fit in comparison to Bozak and Staal? A 13th forward? or a poor man's 3rd-line C? https://www.yardbarker.com/nhl/articles/free_agent_profile_artem_anisimov/s1_14825_35689715 Numbers are not great, but he may be a depth center that can provide depth ANISIMOV 2018-2019 78 games 13g25a38pts 54.3FO% 2019-2020 49 games 13g16a29pts 55.0FO% 2020-2021 19 games 2g7a9pts 40.9FO% BOZAK: 2018-2019 72 games 13g25a38pts 54.3FO% 2019-2020 67 games 13g16a29pts 55.0FO% 2020-202131 games 5g12a17pts 56.8FO% E.STAAL: 2018-2019 81 games 22g30a52pts 51.1FO% 2019-2020 66 games 19g28a47pts 49.5FO% 2020-2021 53 games 5g8a13pts 49FO%

https://editorinleaf.com/2021/08/22/toronto-maple-leafs-sign-galchenyuk/ Chucky is still out there, and was seen recently in Montreal https://www.danslescoulisses.com/fr/alex-galchenyuk-a-ete-apercu-a-montreal/ (although, in the french article, the writer hopes he is not coming to the Habs as a centre) -
Good come back My point was that Staal on a cheap contract is as valid as Bozak on a more expensive contract. We know how well/poorly Staal can play but we do not know it Bozak would fit in the roster over the term he will probably want but what the hoogle-poodle-doodle do I know
-
and ever since 1967
-
OK, thanks!
-
If Bozak was as good as most suggest, how come he is still available? again, I have not seen him play; I just want to understand why he is so well regarded

Inaugural Trois-Rivières Lions off season (2021)
alfredoh2009 replied to alfredoh2009's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
They did not receive Qualifying offers and seem to be decent AHL, ECHL fillers that may provide good depth in the ECHL Brad Morrison, C Drake Rymsha, C Jesper Lindgren, RD Luke Green, RD -
I have not seen Bozak play, so I do not know how good he is. But the numbers do not show that he is miles better. Staal suffers from back problems and is not very good when hurt; but when he is is good shape he is effective. A heavy checking line of Paquette-Staal-Armia or Lehkonen-Staal-Armia would be very good
