  1. although I have an issue with any person being referred to as garbage, I agree that the salary structure has too many contracts that do not meet expectations. They come from a team built to win in the playoffs, where some players were meant to get you in and others meant to get you through. The Habs are on a completely different context, rebuilding to win a cup in the next window. That makes anyone 26 and older an asset to ripen and trade: Drouin, Anderson, Dvorak, Dadonov, Hoffman, Gallagher, Evans, Armia, Edmundson, Matheson, Savard, Wideman, Allen are all veterans that should be traded at some point for the best return.
  2. watched on PVR, and I have to say how happily surprised I am on their win. Good to see Hoffman and Dach score, great to see Gallagher show the kids that we should all care and put in the best effort. the 3 or 4 posts saved Montembeault and clinched the win. Karma will Karma at some point I was happy for Pezzetta
  3. That thug!!! Probably hanging out with the Laval gangsters like the Kostitsin brothers
  4. you didn't write that, I know. I just couldn't resist replying using the stock trading lingo I tend to spend hours looking for potential trades; and to be honest, the Habs are carrying lots of dead weight at this moment including Anderson. He is playing at the same level as Armia!!! Last year he did better and looking back, he was a better asset to trade then. I am hoping that by the 30-35 game mark Anderson and the other trade chips have regained their value
  5. It seems Monahan is not as engaged physically as Dach, for a big forward. He is definitely not as physical as Anderson. Monahan seems like a center version of Armia since he was moved from the Suzuki line. For asset management, I need Monahan to get points, but if he continues to play with soft players, he will not get points... what will St-Louis do ?
  6. in stock trade terms: I don't want to short Anderson, let's wait for the rebound and trade on the news not on the trend
  7. well, from the "team tank" perspective, this is disappointing:
  8. watched on PVR, and liked the production from the Hoffman (2g, 31s PP) - Dvorak (1a, 50%FO, 31s PP) - Gallagher (2a, 31s PP) line I read before the game that DET had a big team. They have a few big players (Soderblom, 6'8") and the Kubalik - Copp - Perron overpowered the Habs; but the Habs managed them fairly well. Allen stole the game, is it 4 games the goalies have stolen so far this season? It seems close to that number. Monahan (-1, 45%FO, 1.29s PP) needs better wingers if the Habs want to maximize the return. Anderson is missed. It is interesting how they distributed the load between Ds, PKs probably had a lot to do with that. It shows who they view as the most reliable defenders:
  9. I agree with you, over performing is a nice way to put it. To reply to the thread: I would NOT add any player that would lessen the chances of drafting high. I would trade assets at any time in the season to support development of the future/young core
  10. I got it from these websites, they are probably wrong. I see now that he is playing RW https://thehockeywriters.com/joshua-roy-2021-nhl-draft-prospect-profile/ https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/483757/joshua-roy
  11. i did some terrible things in my youth that would probably get me cancelled now. I changed, turn my life before going to deep down the path I was on. I do not care about the Bruins, and I have not read the news on this kid. All I can add to what you shared is that in 2022, there is a minimum expectation of decency and respect that was not shown. The handling of this situation by the Bs is horrible.
  12. Go Habs Go, let's make this another entertaining loss
  13. I was thinking earlier this season how the new coaching philosophy would benefit talented high-IQ players at the detriment of bottom-6 players that need the coaching structure. IMHO Pezzetta, Pitlick, Dvorak, Anderson, Armia, and anyone in Laval will struggle in St-Louis' system where they may be fine if overcoached in a Julien/Ducharme system
  14. I think it is up to us, the forum members, to start the thread for the articles. Like we do for GDTs I do it from time to time, but not enough
  15. Interesting article on the need for two top centers for a teams to become a cup contender (Google translate): "But most of these clubs had at least one top-notch attacking defender, plenty of depth at every position, team play, leadership and an above-average will to win." https://www.lapresse.ca/sports/hockey/2022-11-07/rondelle-libre/poste-de-deuxieme-centre-qui-sera-l-elu-a-long-terme.php I agree that keeping Dach on RW and betting on Beck/ (I am adding Kidney/Roy instead of Mesar) to come up in 2-3 years would be a good way to go.
  16. Hello DJ Smith, Armia is the same for the Habs: if you watch the games closely, Habs are not losing because of him. Can you ask Dorion to call Hugh-Gort? Just look for the two-headed GM/Hockey-Ops savant on google if you've lost their contact info
  17. 22 - Cole Caufield 14 - Nick Suzuki 77 - Kirby Dach 27 - Jonathan Drouin 91 - Sean Monahan 63 - Evgenii Dadonov / 55 - Michael Pezzetta 68 - Mike Hoffman 17 - Josh Anderson 11 - Brendan Gallagher 20 - Juraj Slafkovsky 71 - Jake Evans 40 - Joel Armia 21 - Kaiden Guhle 58 - David Savard 44 - Joel Edmundson 72 - Arber Xhekaj 54 - Jordan Harris 26 - Johnathan Kovacevic 6 - Chris Wideman
  18. Good article by Lebrun on The Athletic: Could this be the year aging Penguins , Blues and Capitals fall off? PIT 4W-6L-2OL 10pts STL 3W-6L-0OL 6pts WSH 5W-6L-2OL 12pts https://theathletic.com/3769975/2022/11/07/nhl-aging-penguins-blues-capitals/?source=emp_shared_article
  19. Great list! My take-away is that I want the Habs to build a strong core of elite players like TBL and PIT and to a lesser degree CHI in their hey-day (let's avoid the contracts and A-h*le culture) Out of this list, CHI'10 had a strong core built on the old model of one elite player per skater position and the first time the cup run didn't rest on an established elite goaltender (Niemi 22GP, 16W-6L .910 GAA). Hossa won his cup and the team was disbanded and saddled with bad contracts. But they won 2013 and 2015 Crawfod played really well 16W-7L .932GAA & 13W-6L .924GAA. The top-10 scorers in the playoffs were the veterans The LAK'14 had size and a one-two punch at center, Doughty won his Norris later (2016) but made the rest of the D (Green, Martinez,Mitchell and Muzin) look great. Quick was 16W-10L .911 GAA Of the more recent teams that were in the finals, TBL and PIT had solid to-draft cores COL, STL. WSH and SJS have been cup contenders for years but have not been able to repeat performance (we'll see with the Avs)
  20. Richard and Stephens are not performing to expectations. Will Slafkovsky help ?
