  1. watched the 3rd. Rocket players seem NOT to be playing collectively. Too many chips off the glass and dumps behind the opposing net without being able to gain puck possession. Dobes looked nervous and green, handled puck like a grenade. Looking forward to the Marlies game.
  2. the TSN 690 post-game folks were saying that Guhle probably has a concussion based on the visor. they also cited some practice stuff that hinted towards that theory, but I don;t remember exactly what they mentioned.
  3. yes, it is done. I like how the new owner handled it. OTT finally has good ownership:
  4. ok, let's compare: Mailloux is physically better built for the NHL and a better skater. MAB was not drafted. Now, MAB produced much more in the minors. Mailloux's development has was interrupted and he is trying to get back on track. I am hopeful Mailloux will have a better career than Marc-André
  5. And he is shooting a lot which means he is carrying the play and/or generating chances —- by extension it means he is attacking and not defending
  6. Roy seems to be doing great. On another post quoting EOP, He seems to have impressed those that follow Laval and the Habs prospects. Based on the HabsWorld report, Mailloux is also doing well. I have not followed the Rocket too much this season, and when I check up on the team and dismiss the goaltending stats or the wins/losses. I am looking for indicators of the development progress of the prospects.
  7. going into the 10th game, the Canadiens have a better standing than expected. When sorted using Hockey Refernece's "SRS" (Simple Rating System: a team rating that takes into account average goal differential and strength of schedule. The rating is denominated in goals above/below average, where zero is average.) they are 22nd: closer to expectations. Special teams have improved recently, but they are taking too many penalties. The goalies have done better recently, and they will need to continue playing this well if they Habs are hoping to remain so high in the standings.
  8. I was a skeptic of Caufield’s chances of succeeding, and I am glad to have been proven wrong. If the Habs young veterans and prospects had a good doze of gritty and big players to protect Hutson I would be as excited as many fans. I am cautiously optimistic given his clear talent. I hope he develops into the player we all hope to see
  9. could not find it in the NHL CBA, and searching I found out they were eliminated to prevent cap circumvention. It used to be:
  10. Stupid me, I forgot to check Cap friendly, I though he was still under the last contract. I still think he can be resigned to a cap similar to Dvorak's (around $4.5M/yr)
  11. this season is going to be a series of hot/cold streaks. Some players are still going to show youth inconsistency, and some veterans will not go all-in (like Savard) and risk an injury on a season where they have no chance to win the cup. but I am more optimistic than you on the future, if a handful of prospects develop into elite NHL players. Guhle and Barron are developing well. I was so impressed with Baron the first season when he was traded for. After some time on Laval, he is not showing more maturity in his game. Caufield is just such a joy to watch, he has improved significantly when playing without the puck. I am very happy how he is able to play along the boards, despite his size. He is very good a retrieving pucks and creating turnovers. One of Dach, Newhook will establish himslef. It depends on how healthy they are and how much opportunity they get to play lots of minutes. For the rest, I do not see elite talent there, there are some very promising prospects but for the most part, it will be up to HughGort to trade some of the prospects and maybe some picks to get more talented players: the type needed to win in the playoffs and drive the play during the season. I am hopeful.
  12. A 2 year deal with an option to resign will be fine by me. His current contract is a bit too rich. I expect the Habs to be able to dig him for Dvorak money
  13. but why go after Nylander, when we have Monahan. Not one-to-one match, different players: but Monahan is a better fit with the Habs and would be cheaper to sign
  14. Yeah, Habs have been competitive in most game. I dozed off a couple of times watching this game (it was very late) but loved what I saw Despite some turn overs , the Habs showed that if everyone was healthy they would be a legit bubble playoff team
  15. two prospects having a good season. One that is my favorite ... I'll let you guess which one... b b b
  16. watched the recorded game, but fast-forwarded most of the 1st. TVA play-by-play guys were saying how Slaf was a turnover machine tonight. He didn't seem to me as being worse than Gallagher or Anderson. Guhle was great, Allen was great, Monanhan had a great game too. It is unexpected to see them in the top 10 of the league, despite all the injuries. When they loose. it has been bad, but their record is really good:
  17. I don't know if others posted that too, but this was one of my proposals some time ago
  18. I don;t have time, but I would look for pending UFAs that would be a better fit than a veteran in the Habs roster: to flip with that team in a trade and sign deal. Habs could dump a contract with a bit of term and get a player that fits better with the rebuild.
  19. How would that make a difference. They didn’t hire inexperience people that would learn on the job. The new team was brought in to change the trend
  20. I posted in this forum the discussions on RDS that he was floating more, specially when he started being over-used. I thought at the time that he may be managing his energy and posted a quote from MSL to that effect. This year, he seems to be continuing that trend. That style of play is different to what MB and TT wanted to be like.
