You suggested a much bigger trade which included adding Marchessault and getting rid of Laine, effectively locking us into that ling term, big money winger spot for.4 years instead of 1 with Laine. And for a guy who is small and aging. You want to do Mailloux and Roy for Stamkos? Id say yes to that but im not taking on a long term bad contract too.
-
Yes thats part of my thinking too. And why im willing to move him for a short term answer at #2 c
-
They were fired, not after the pick. But more than 6 months later when the team was in last place. Ownership signed off on the pick. Its nearly three years later and he hasnt been traded and has signed a contract, and has been called up to the NHL twice. The, he will be traded cause of PR, argument falls flat after all of that.
-
I agree, if it was because of his past, HuGo would have moved him before signing his ELC, before playing in Laval, and before making his NHL debut as a Canadien. I think the reason why he might be moved is cause he has value and you have to give something of value to get something of value. Roy and 2nd aren't throw in pieces to my offer, the value is in Mailloux.

Good answer. You still haven't said who you'd trade. You get asked a question, and instead of answering, just be a dick and attack others. Easy to criticize others, not as easy to provide original thoughts though. Guess you can't compute.
-
Who are you giving? And no struble or xhekaj arent getting it done imo The snark is also not needed.
-
Sure, if in exploring this Malkin (for whatever reason) has limited himself to Montreal and no where else, you lower your offer. My offer was based on what i would pay in a scenario with two or more teams bidding on him. Hes still 0.74 PPG on a team that loaded up the Crosby line and had no depth. I think hes worth the bandaid and being a vet Russian would also have off-ice benefits for Demidov too. We have no other Russians on the team.

I too would like to make a trade where we give up nothing of value (a third pairing D, Josh roy and a 2nd) and get Evgeni Malkin in return. I included Mailloux not to throw him away but because i felt i needed an actual valuable piece to get a first ballot HOFer back

Penguins apparently want NHL ready players and prospects instead of picks. Maybe Mailloux Josh Roy 2nd. Hfboards style offer.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6411170/2025/06/16/penguins-evgeni-malkin-retirement-nhl/?source=emp_shared_article Apparently the Penguins wont offer Malkin a new contract after this season. We should see if they want a trade for him. He'd be a great second line centre for a year and a good mentor for Demidov.

There will always be players who develop.late and end up better than scouts could have guessed. Im not sure how much of this is scouts being on their game, how much is development teams and how much is luck. I suspect its a little of all 3. But this is a draft where there is less depth and quality than the average draft IMO. Once you get past the first 7 or 8 guys it falls off in a way most drafts dont.
-
All.those.teams willing to trade is.cause after about 7 or 8 guys, the draft is garbage. Which is also.why its unlikely any one will take an offer of the habs 2 first rounders to get a top 7 or 8 pick. Even in a normal year this is rare. With this draft class its just a lopsided deal. To compare. A guy like Hage is going probably about 10th in this draft.

On talent, a top 10 prospect but hasnt played much due to a back injury. He could fall depending on what his medical shows. But if hes falling due to a bad back do we want him? If the back is fine, he doesn't get to us at 16 Its the type of thing teams will know and fans wont

Signing Three-Year Deal for Vinzenz Rohrer
Commandant replied to dlbalr's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
He seems to be developping nicely. Good for him to earn an ELC. -
Friedman said today (32 thoughts) that Granlund is gonna get paid (and likely more than Dallas can afford).
-
I agree with Brian. there is a less than zero chance that they trade Mctavish for Matheson and Mailloux and a third line C prospect. None. that proposal is very one-sided.
-
I like Lavoie. good insider. bad vote? sure. Schmuck? no.
-
2/3 tva guys had Hughes over Lane. Same for non-tva guys. Only one person had Lane and no Hughes, Ren Lavoie.
-
I dont think he is even available. Its just a hypothetical. But yeah thats why Id do the deal.
-
Let the wings have him. Another team inside the division can have him.
-
Ceiling? 80-90 point, two way centre, with size and physicality.
-
For McTavish yes. Wouldnt be a lot of guys id do the deal for but hes one.

We know what Guhle and Matheson are. They are top 4 NHL defencemen. Matheson can play both special teams units, and Guhle is a key on the penalty kill. We dont know what Mailloux is. Although im pretty sure he isnt going to be a PKer, at least not in the immediate future. Overall though when we choose between the three its the classic meme from Family Guy. We could have a boat. Or we could have the mystery box. It could be anything, even a boat. In this case we have two top 4 defencemen.... and a prospect who could be anything, with the ceiling of becoming a top 4 D.
-
100% agree Also trading him leaves a defence group with no vets and he is a leader in the room. Its something that is almost never considered when people say trade Matheson. On top of that, we've already lost one key part of the PK unit in Savard. Who replace Matheson if he goes? Guhle and Carrier can't play the full 2 minutes of PK time.
-
Guhle- Hutson, with Hutson on the right was a strong pairing.
