It also suggests that scoring goals against teams like Denmark and Great Britain is a little easier than doing so against NHL squads. So I'm not sure how big a conclusion to draw from it.

This actually is an assist, as they ruled it got deflected.

Three goals late (one into an empty net) for the Huskies in a 6-3 win. Teasdale adds an assist. Both Habs prospects go 1g1a
-
3-3. Fonstad adds an assist on the tying goal.

Suzuki had 5 shots through 2 periods.. most in the game.

Social media like Twitter is less than 10% of the total fan base, its not a representative sample of fans.

I'm not a fan of Maatta, he's never been as good as his rookie season, and he gets overrated a lot to me. I think that 4m is overpaid for a third pairing D. I'd just assume sign Benn for 2 more years than get Maatta. His lack of footspeed isn't a good fit in the NHL the way the league keeps getting faster. TVA had an article on Habs LD targets... they were sign Gardiner or Edler... trade for Alec Martinez or Shayne Gostisbehere.

+1 for use of the word "nincompoop"

I make the best trade I can make, no matter who I'm making it with... division or not. If I get even a small bit more from the division rival than outside the division, i'm taking that small bit more. Better is better.

Again, they have to think that they are winning the trade. If both GMs are fully confident they are winning the trade, they shouldn't be afraid of who they trade with. Have some cajones.

The world has changed. People want their sports faster and faster in 2019 than they did in 1987. The availability of thousands of tv channels, and information at your fingertips with the internet is changing the world.

Here is the thing. Last night's hand pass was obvious... and I want that reviewable cause I don't like that obviously wrong calls are allowed to stand, especially in key moments. But we've been down this road. The offside challenge came cause Matt Duchene scored a ridiculous goal where he was 3 feet offside. They made the rule, and now the unintended consequence is that we have these stupid reviews for things that are a milimetre offside. I think video review shouldn't be for every single little thing. It should only be clear and obvious errors by a ref. I don't want 4 minutes of stoppage to see if a guy's skate was a centimetre off the ice, 40 seconds before the goal was scored. But I don't want someone scoring a breakaway when they are three feet offside, or that clear hand pass last night.

I'm not afraid of making trades inside the division. You have to win the trade though, you have to extract a real price for taking Marleau or Callahan. My whole thing is that if you think you are winning the trade, you shouldn't be afraid of who you are making it with. Heck its better in the division, as you are hurting the rival by extracting a key piece that helps you.

O'Reilly had 8g as an 18year old rookie. When will Suzuki's rookie season be... 20 (next year), or 21 (one year in Laval). So its comparing apples to oranges I'm not looking at an exact match... year by year. You also have to consider in your average that O'Reilly's rookie season at 18 drags down that average, as does his 2nd year when he is also at 26 points. Those are two years that Suzuki is in the OHL instead of NHL. Take out those seasons... and the lockout shortened year (20 points in 29 games... so on pace for 56) And you see that 55 is his lowest season, not his average. He's a consistent 55-65 point guy, with one outlier season (this year) of 77. If Suzuki becomes a consistent 55-65 point guy, thats a pretty good player. He was a 13th overall pick. He wasn't Connor McDavid, or even a Mitch Marner at 1st and 4th overall.

A 60 point player out of Suzuki would be a great return. I don't think he's going to be some elite PPG player. But if we get a really good forward, (a solid first line wing, or a solid #2 C), then we have to be happy with that return.

I don't blame Carolina. I think that all the teams in the Metro had their flaws this year. Washington had flaws, the Islanders had flaws, Carolina, Pittsburgh. The best 2 teams in the East were Tampa and Boston. Once Tampa went out on the upset, the path to the finals for Boston was cleared IMO. I'm hoping its San Jose, cause they have the best chance to stop them IMO. That said, I do think St. Louis has a chance as well (but Boston would be favoured).

I still think Kotkaniemi fits that bill, especially if you consider someone like Patrice Bergeron to be an elite superstar (and I do consider Bergeron at that level). Kotkaniemi has already shown the defensive game at 18, that is off the charts in terms of advanced stats for someone his age. It was close to an elite level performance. Add to that I think his offence can get there. If we are talking about a 75 point 1st line centre, who is also a guy who is seen as one of the top defensive forwards (selke calbre), then thats a superstar in my opinion. Its taking Plekanec in his prime, making him even abetter offensively, and even better defensively. To me that would be the type of piece you can build your offensive group around. (And who a guy like Suzuki would really complement whether it be on his wing, or as the second centre).

Connor McDavid was doing at 16 and 17 what Suzuki is doing at 19.... Thats not really comparable. Even Mitch Marner, was one year younger than Suzuki. So no, I don't expect the PPG superstar level of prospect here. That said, he could be a guy who can put up 60+ points in his prime, playing on the first or second line. Thats not what I expect out of his rookie season, but what he can do in 2-3 years from now.

Yes, little less than 3 weeks to get ready. Should be a fun match.

Nope, but I'm a Spurs fan, and the next day they were like... Down 3 goals? Hold my beer.
