  1. Jerabek is also on a one year ELC. He'll be UFA next year. If he's any good, he's going to need a raise, and if he sucks and we let him walk, his replacement is at best a small saving from his 925K
  2. Price isnt the only raise. Danault needs a raise next year McCarron and De La Rose will need small bumps. Also Our current roster with 16.4 in space is 18 guys. Add 3 (Rad, Markov, Chuck) and its 21. Still need 1-2 more to be added to the cap, call that 1.5 mill or so. if plek gone, add another 700-800K for his roster replacement. And you also need to leave yourself 1-1.5 million or so in space for callups. You'd be cutting it way too close IMO..... You need to leave a bit for 2018... or have a contract that expires in 2018.
  3. him vs Jerabek for the NHL vs AHL spots.
  4. Good move to make Laval competitive.
  5. $1.2 million retained by Vegas on Emelin too.
  6. If you trade Pleks, and give Markov 2 years the problem is you have no space for Price's extension. Plek coming off the books is Price's money. If Plek is moved to make room, great, but Markov better be 1 year so that there is room for Price's money.
  7. So big focus on Laval, I like. 2 Cs and 2 Ds for the AHL team Alzner wasn't over priced Still need to get one (and hopefully both) of Markov/Radulov signed.
  8. There is a lot of talk about how Julien forced Seguin out of Boston. Here is a video on the Bruins backroom discussions on the Seguin deal. Lots of Bruins upper management talking about trading Seguin and lots saying that he's soft, not committed, not good defensively, etc... and a trade should be made. But the one guy who isn't present, Julien. Should finally put to rest who was forcing Seguin out of town... Chiarelli and Neely.
  9. Did any team give a tryout to Tyler Boland.
  10. Yeah, a top 6 fwd, a top 4 D.... none in 5 years. In fact the current habs team doesn't have a single player who has a guaranteed roster spot developped by Lefebvre... not one. I really don't understand this need to blindly defend management no matter what that you show. At least with Therrien and Bergevin you can point to their win/loss record. With Lefebvre there is nothing... his win/loss record is shit, and his list of players developed doesn't include a single major success. The results literally can't get worse.
  11. Don is just defending Lefebvre again. No impact players developed in 5 years 1 playoff appearance in 5 years Tell me again how this can get worse..... my grandma could coach the team and get similar results, and she doesn't know a thing about hockey. If Lefebvre is fired tomorrow, its almost impossible for a new coach to get worse results.
  12. We heard that from Zacha a couple years ago right after the draft. We'll see what happens in the summer. Denials at this stage can be denials, or they can be bargaining chips.
  13. He's on the third line cause McDavid and Draisaitl are REALLY ####ING GOOD.
  14. 13 million is 17% of the cap In 2007 the Penguins signed Sidney Crosby for 17% of the cap at 8.7 per season. In 2008 the Penguins gave an Identical contract to Malkin. in 2009 they won the cup. Will they win the cup? who knows... but contract wise, this plays out like Pittsburgh. The guy who will eventually (and not this off-season necessarily) but eventually must go is the third line C... RNH becomes their Jordan Staal trade.
  15. McDavid's cap hit is the exact same percentage of the current cap as Crosby's was in 2007. One year later the Penguins gave an identical contract to Malkin. They won the cup. The guy who had to go with the cap squeeze? Jordan Staal when his deal was up. The guy who will be traded eventually (if not this summer, but eventually), so that McDavid and Draisaitl can man the top two lines at big money? The third line centre... Ryan Nugent Hopkins.
  16. JDLR plus Leblanc and Hudon.... are massive red flags on Lefebvre's coaching. Massive. You've already done a good job on Hudon. At 20 years old Leblanc was an NHL player with 7 goals and 7 assists for 14 points in 40 games. He did not look out of place. He didn't make the team the next year cause he Gallagher passed him, and Leblanc was AHL eligible and Galchenyuk was not. They wanted to keep their new third overall pick... okay fair enough, but he was still really close to NHL ready. What happened next? He regressed in every AHL season under Lefebvre. Didn't get better, he spent the next three years getting worse. Next Hudon..... in juniors he was an elite defensive player. Picked twice for Team Canada at the World Juniors and given the role of being the shut down forward on the team. Went to the AHL, his scoring kept happening. His defensive game has stalled and gone to shit. He's a defensive liability which is why he can't get an NHL job despite great AHL scoring. How does this happen. How is a kid excellent defensively at one level and makes no progression on that aspect of his game in the AHL. 1 guy... maybe its the player. 3 guys? I look at the coach. ... the fact he's developing no one? DAMN RIGHT its the coach.
  17. Gallagher played less than 1/2 a season, he was only there cause its a lockout. Andrighetto, Hudon, McCarron, Lernout, Beaulieu.... not one has proven yet that they are a top 4 defenceman or top 6 forward ... Lefebvre doesn't develop the goalies.... he's not a goalie coach.
  18. If you have 20 players and each has a 10% chance of making an impact the NHL and you produce 0 NHLers, its a FAILURE of the development team. Its not about one individual player... its about the fact he has been given a number of prospects and not been able to succeed with any of them.
  19. Hamilton drafts Joni Ikonen 28th overall in CHL Import Draft. with Andaleur owning the Dogs and part of the Habs, he just might come over. (though staying in Frolunda still seems more likely).
  20. you read the whole post where I put together how to spend the 21 million without him leaving, right?
  21. Away That said, I have a feeling that one of Chucky/Drouin is their planned solution at C. I still think its Drouin, so when we talk money I don't expect another C acquistion unless plek is gone. 21 M 4 m - alzner 5m - Chuck 5m - markov 6m - radulov that leaves 1 mill for call ups. If they trade Plekanec, maybe they grab a Bonino type. If not I think our Cs are already on the roster
  22. Do not want Brodin or Scandella for Chucky. Those trades are clear losses for the Habs. Just play Chuck at Center
