  1. Letting Streit go was a mistake in 2008. Forced us into the Schneider, MAB, Wisniewski moves, and 2 of those cost us assets to do. Signing Streit in 2013 would be a mistake IMO. Not what we need now
  2. So its not on ice. Its not the arrest. What is this, a game of twenty questions?
  3. Marko Dano, a Slovakian who always comes up big internationally... gritty RW. http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/06/04/marko-dano-2013-nhl-draft-player-profile-53/
  4. I'd trade Price for first overall, and I love Price. But the idea of Galchenyuk/Mackinnon/Eller down the middle is too much to pass up. That said, I can't see it happening.
  5. Draft Combine, Heights and Weights, as best as I could come up with http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/06/03/nhl-draft-combine-2013-heights-and-weights/
  6. Emile Poirier, #52 on the board. A left wing with Gatineau. http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/06/03/emile-poirier-2013-nhl-draft-player-profile-52/
  7. Dillon Heatherington. http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/06/02/dillon-heatherington-2013-nhl-draft-player-profile-51/
  8. Connor Hurley, another American forward headed to the NCAA. He's got real all around skill http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/05/31/connor-hurley-2013-nhl-draft-player-profile-50/
  9. Jacques Beaulieu fired from Sarnia. Team says it is NOT related to on-ice performance, but will say no more on the advice of their lawyers.
  10. Oliver Bjorkstrand, a RW who had a major role in Portland's WHL playoff run and Mem Cup bid. http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/05/30/oliver-bjorkstrand-2013-nhl-draft-player-profile-49/ Two things to remember about year end awards though. How good a player is now, is not how good a player projects to be in the NHL. Teams are trying to pick the best player in the NHL for them trying to project the players future in 3-4 years, not the best junior player for their junior team. If it was about taking the best junior player, then Corey Locke would have been a first round pick.
  11. Having three second round picks and two thirds, I wouldn't be afraid to use pick 55 on him. That said, Montreal has the ability to make one of these swing for the fences picks due to all the extras we have. Keaton Thompson, heck of a skater, for the USNTDP on their defence. http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/05/29/keaton-thompson-2013-nhl-draft-player-profile-48/
  12. Jankowski would be a loss, he's done good things out west since being hired... Gallagher, Dietz, Thrower, MacMillan, are guys we've taken from out west.
  13. Rumor I've heard is John Madden, but that hasn't been confirmed
  14. Dallas' draft post 2005 (when Churla joins) is excellent. Their GM work in the same period is shit. As much as we hit a home run in 2012... so did Dallas... the only difference in quality is the fact that we get Galchenyuk at 3rd overall, and they don't have such a high pick. Past that, they did just as well as us. Some other picks that I really love in Dallas since Churla was there... Jamie Benn (one of the biggest draft steals of the decade)... .James Neal, Matt Niskanen, Jack Campbell, Brett Ritchie, Philip Larsen, Only one huge mistake in Scott Glennie How much of that is Churla? I don't know the answer to that.
  15. Timmins is Director of Scouting. Churla is beneath him as chief amateur scout. This doesn't effect much for Timmins. In a short period of time we went from 8 scouts to 19.
  16. Yeah, in terms of talent I'd have him in the first round. The difference this year is he and his agent are dropping a lot more hints that he wants to come to North America and that his deal is up at the end of next season. The big thing thats changed is that he was traded by Metallurg at midseason to Salavat Ufa, and that, along with his still limited ice time in the KHL may be influencing his decision.
  17. Anton Slepyshev, big Russian forward, very skilled, KHL Factor alarm bells. http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/05/28/anton-slepyshev-2013-nhl-draft-player-profile-47/
  18. Hudson Fasching, a power forward out of the US National Team Development Program http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/05/27/hudson-fasching-2013-nhl-draft-player-profile-46/
  19. Realistic move is from 25 to 15 at most (and thats by moving 25 + 34 + 36). I don't think its worth it. Make the picks you have, draft is a crap shoot, some will bust, some will hit... quantity is the key, unless you get surefire guys... and teams aren't trading you the surefire guys like top 5 for quantity.
  20. Detroit's struggle is coming.... Datsyuk is supposed to be leaving after next season.
  21. There is no way we have enough picks for a top 5 pick which is where Nichuskin is likely to go now that he's made the strong commitment to come to North America. Teams don't trade top 5 picks for a 'quantity of picks'... they might trade down 1 or 2 spots, but not to 24 or 25.
  22. William Carrier, Power forward in the Q http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/05/26/william-carrier-2013-nhl-draft-prospect-profile-45/
  23. I hope Mantha falls to us, but I think he'll be gone in the late teens. He's got size, skating, and a great shot... but his intensity and consistency is questionned by some. --------------------- Linus Arnesson, a defensive D out of Sweden. http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/05/25/linus-arnesson-2013-nhl-draft-prospect-profile-44/
  24. The killing penalties thing was stupid on our coaching staff's part, no other word to explain it. In 2011-12 he played the 2nd most penalty kill minutes on the team, and we finished #2 in the league on the PK. We actually were better on the PK after Hal Gill was traded and he took over his spot on the 1st PK unit.
