  1. Subban I can see; I don't agree with it, but I understand it. Eller? I don't understand at all... is he hurt?
  2. If it was two ancient guys... Like if we were saying Price for Iginla and St. Louis (yes I know different teams, but work with my hypothetical).... I'd say no. Because Stamkos is so young, it makes it okay. Stamkos vs Price you can go either way on. They are both Franchise players IMO. But Stamkos + 2-3 years of St. Louis puts it over the top.
  3. The two guys who excite me are Stamkos and St. Louis... they are the two guys on Tampa's roster who we just don't have an answer for. The one guy they don't have an answer for is Carey Price. The rest looks like a wash to me. Hedman/Subban; Connolly vs Pacioretty; the rest of their prospects vs Beaulieu, Leblanc, Tinordi, etc... So the question is would I trade Price for Stamkos and St. Louis? Yes I would, and you can see on my profile how much i like Price.
  4. What actions did PG mess up in the summer? Erik Cole is probably one of the top 2 value for dollar UFA signings of July 1st... the other being Fleischmann in Florida.
  5. Before being fired, Martin said that Gionta has been playing hurt all season, and that he finally aggravated it. As for Subban he's 22 years old, playing the most minutes on the team... in the toughest matchups and is -2 on the season. Yes he's made mistakes lately... but lets not make this more than it is.
  6. If he's a 45+ point defenceman... then 4.25 million is really not that expensive given the cost of UFAs these days. Especially guys who are proven producers on the PP. Also everyone freaked out about Kaberle's age... he is 33. Hamrlik was older than that when we signed him, and many wanted a 5th year of Hamrlik. We've got 2.5 of Kaberle.
  7. Its not confirmed. But think about it for 2 seconds. Here are the facts as we know them. 1) Kaberle and a 2nd were offered to Columbus for Brassard... Columbus turned it down. 2) Dreger reported that Rutherford made some offers of Kaberle + a 2nd to try and get rid of him when he was offering him around the league. 3) Gauthier traded Spacek for Kaberle. I highly, highly doubt that Rutherford said to Gauthier... Hey, I'll give you, "Kaberle and a 2nd for Jaro Spacek" and Gauthier said, "thats fine Jim, keep the 2nd... we'll just take Kaberle".
  8. Does anyone know if Gerard Gallant (an Acadien from PEI) can speak French?
  9. Keep in mind each team can only designate 3 overagers too. But if any of those guys were offered, their Junior clubs would make room for them.
  10. Kaberle and a 2nd was offered to Columbus for Brassard. It was not offered for Spacek. If Rutherford ever offered Kaberle and a 2nd, he was looking for a real asset back... not a 38 year old D whose body appears to be breaking down.
  11. He'd be considered an overager in the QMJHL; but yes he could go back there. Same situation as other guys who spent 2 years post draft in Junior though... Leblanc is QMJHL eligible as an overager this season (hence why Shawinigan traded for him in the summer when his shoulder was hurt). Highly unlikely. He has 4 years in the QMJHL and I cant think of any team who has sent a 1st round draft pick to the CHL over the AHL when they had 4 years experience and it would be for an overage season. Really would only be if he's had some type of injury and they don't want him in Hamilton. Tinordi is also eligible to go back as an overager, as would Gallagher etc... but the thing is we can be 95% sure that aint happening.
  12. Draft rules are your age on September 15th. AHL/CHL eligibility is by your age on December 31st.
  13. Beaulieu is a December birthday... so he's eligible for the AHL next season if the Habs choose to go that route.
  14. Tinordi or Zucker will be the captain. As a 3rd time WJC member I think Zucker has the edge, but I'm pulling for former U18 Captain Tinordi.
  15. Yeah that was some shitty reffing. Kronwall jumps, hits Kesler... Kesler comes up angry and gives him a shot.... no penalty to Kronwall, 2 minutes to Kesler. Canucks come down shorthanded... Hansen runs over the goalie, Edler puts it in to the open net while Howard has been wiped out. Good Goal. It benefitted the Canucks in the end... but it was a giant mess of refereeing.. bad calls both ways.
  16. We are adding a lot more than just those 3 though. Beaulieu, Gallagher, Ellis and Pateryn will also be in Hamilton (unless they are in Montreal); and Kristo is likely as well. It will be a very young team, but there is no doubt its getting a serious talent injection.
  17. Watch them before the change and watch the last 3 games. Focus specifically on the breakout. You'll see the change, its drastic.
  18. The Breakout gets worse and worse as teams get film of the changes Cunneyworth made. Having the two forwards fly out of the zone as soon as the first forward gets the puck, isn't working. We don't headman the puck quick enough, and the forwards reach the blueline where they are forced to stop to avoid the offside. Then when the pass finally comes, they aren't moving their feet and we can't gain the zone. The Hawks were just stick checking us at the line all night. PATHETIC Short quick passes work 100x better than these low percentage plays.
  19. Brutal giveaway by Subban. Zero reason to go to the backhand there. What was it you said about firing JM? Careful what you wish for.
  20. Bad Defense on the first goal.... Bad goaltending on the second.
